I guess he could have just relied on a police escort causing traffic snarls and potential accidents. Just ask John Corzine.

Only 35 trips?!

If you wanna know how to run up a flight bill and screw your constituents, then you best ask a Democrat...…According to KMOX, which broke the story this afternoon, (Governor Jay) Nixon has spent more than $400,000 in taxpayer dollars on the state plane. That amounts to more than 250 flights, or an average of one every three days. What’s worse: the cost of Nixon’s flights are being incurred not by the Governor’s office, but by various state agencies—which diverts precious taxpayer resources from the missions of these agencies in order to chauffer the Governor around the state….
…In 2009, the Associated Press reported that the Governor had even billed taxpayers almost $1,300 to fly to a college basketball game—a trip which had absolutely no public purpose…

Naw, Sam, it only takes a United States Senator. Why should the fun of jobbing the taxpayers end at the state house?
To her credit, Claire DID scratch a check to cover her travel expense - after the Politico nailed her.
She also ordered her husband to "sell the damn plane" - after it had been discovered that she neglected to pay almost $300,000 in personal property taxes on it over a three-year period.
Old gal's feisty, and possesses the political moxie to withstand all this. Trouble is, she hitched her wagon to Obamacare too, and her seat comes up for election in 2012. Anything with a pulse will have a better'n even chance of sending her packing...

The guys an ego maniac for thinking he should be able to use a state heli to go to his kids game. Dip shit should budget the time in his day like the rest of us or better yet just tell the snot nosed kid hes too important to show up for his dumb game and to send him the bill for his therapy.
I hear the idea of taxing mileage on our vehicles might be picking up steam. Between the three people in my house that drive Im sure we put at least 40,000+ miles a year on our vehicles. A penny a mile would be $400+. Honestly i could see it being a nickel...$2000 for me.
Fees for doing /visiting stuff seem to be popular right now. Wa. state just passed some law stateing i have to buy a new pass to visit any state park. $30 i think...it can go along with the forest pass I buy every year...and the fishing/hunting license thing i buy every year to hang off my mirror. Its getting to be that anywhere i go in my state i have to hang a pass off my car mirror...and im never really sure which pass i need so i just throw them all up there at once.

From your link:
88's post:Mr. Davitt said the $18,200 reimbursement by the Democratic committee would cover 14 of the 272 flights the governor has taken in the helicopters this year. The 14 flights, all nonofficial, include a trip to a politician's wedding. The payment figure is based on a charge of $1,200 per hour.
The only fact that wasn't straight was a difference in the bill rate for the aircraft and that doesn't change the bottom line which is $18,200 for 14 private trips. There is no "right wing party line" here. There are only facts.Hmmm. Let's do some math, shall we? $18,200 / $2,500 = 7.28 hours of paid helicopter time. 7.28 hours / 14 non-governmental trips = .52 hours (34 minutes) per trip. A trip usually involves travel to and from a location. Meaning that the Democratic party reimbursed the State of New Jersey for 14 helicopter trips made by Mcgreevy that lasted an average of 17 minutes each way.
