Vista Internet Security 2012
Anyone else exposed to this little gem? Looks like a renewal for the Windows Security software, but it’s actually a nasty piece of malware that eventually blocks you from going anywhere on the internet other than their site. Hopefully with your credit card.

Re: Vista Internet Security 2012
First, if you use Vista, you deserve limited utility.
Second, I'll bet Malwarebytes will fix it.
Might have to start in Safe Mode with networking, or, if there's another computer available, DL it to a thumbdrive and tranfer it to the Vista machine running in Safe Mode via "Nike Network."

Malware Bytes FTW
With all the horseshit around here, you'd think there'd be a pony somewhere.

If you have malware that keeps you from navigating freely (ie. automatic redirect), sometimes starting in Safe Mode (with networking) allows you to get to sites and DL files.
As an alternate, you can use adifferent machine, DL the current Malwarebytes version, and use the Nike Network (walk across the room with a thumbdrive... in the Old Days, we used floppies) to install it (in safe mode) to the infected machine.

Yes, I did have to bring up the PC in safe mode. I didn't have a choice on the operating system that came with the PC. And I've not really had any issues with Vista as an operating system for my home PC. None whatsoever.

Spelled "Malwarebytes" wrong as well, it's one word.
FTW meant, it beat the crap out of that Vista Internet Security 2012 malware.
So far anyway. Some of the other ones get dug in like an Alamaba tick. (Predator reference)

What's also funny (you might remember this because you're almost as old as I am), the makers of Geritol took considerable heat back in the early 70's (height of the women's liberation movement) for the TV commercial about the guy whose wife started taking Geritol, and he says, "My wife. I think I'll keep her."Papa Willie wrote:Goober McTuber wrote: Geritroll.![]()
