The Big Ben influence... Hines Ward DUI
DECATUR, Ga. — Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday in Georgia on a drunken driving charge, sheriff's officials said.
The former Super Bowl MVP and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" champ was booked into the DeKalb County jail just outside Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. and charged with driving under the influence. He was released on $1,300 bond.

Not sure what is worse for the Steelers rep, Hines being arrested for DUI or Hines being constantly referred to as the "reigning 'Dancing With the Stars' champ."
Good thing he didn't kill anybody. And I hope his attorney isn't blowing smoke about Hines being innocent. But if he is, I suppose Hines is going to have to ride the pine for a game or two. But at least he wasn't not arrested like Ben. Then he would be looking at a 4 game suspension.![Rolling Eyes :meds:](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Except the NFL doesn't have disciplinary authority over any player right now.

Goodell has already said that any violations of disciplinary policy would be dealt with after the lockout. At the rate these guys are getting arrested, he may be doing nothing but fining and suspending players for the first 2 weeks of training camp.Dinsdale wrote:BSmack wrote: But at least he wasn't not arrested like Ben. Good luck with the courts -- trying to retroactiely enforce a "disciplinary policy" against union employees that you've locked out would be... an asskicking in court.
Goodell can say whatever he wans, but unless the CBA has provisions for retroactive punishment (like the union will go for that), then yeah, he's talking out his ass.
Same deal in the NBA right now. Michael Beasley just got popped for drug-related offense #3, which would have gotten him a looooong suspension... ecxept he's locked out.

The union decertified. And don't look for any new agreement to be signed that doesn't continue the current disciplinary standards.Dinsdale wrote:Good luck with the courts -- trying to retroactiely enforce a "disciplinary policy" against union employees that you've locked out would be... an asskicking in court.
