Hey Shoalz
Bout fucking time the Tiggers took out the trash, eh? Continually trotting out sub .200 hitters with deteriorating defensive skills was getting pretty old (Inge and Raburn). The pickup of Betemit from KC would seem like a ho hum acquisition to most, but for the Tigers, that was a huge improvement. Just gotta go after a solid 5th starter now, preferrably a lefty, and Detroit will be poised to pull away in the Central.

Re: Hey Shoalz
Betemit has skillet hands and was doomed to the bench once Hosmer and Moustakas got called up. The Royals got two good prospects in Cruz and Rodriguez, plus Aviles just got called back as well and can play more than the two positions Betemit played. Would you like Bruce Chen?

Re: Hey Shoalz
Defensively, the Betemit pickup is a wash, but offensively, the guy is Ted Williams compared to Inge and his .177 batting average. He is not the long term solution, but something had to be done at that spot if this team wants to make a serious run THIS season.
Re: Hey Shoalz
Inge is a disaster...glad he's gone. I gotta say, that lineup last night looked pretty darn good...
Jackson CF
Boesch LF
Ordonez RF
Cabrera 1B
Martinez DH
Peralta SS
Guillen 2B
Avila C
Betemit 3B
It's not the Red Sox or Phillies lineup but that's one of the better lineups they've been able to put out there in a while.
It's really their time to take this division over. They're 20-10 in the division and they seem to finally be over their complex with the Twins...10 straight wins over them now. I'd love to see them add another starter to round out the rotation. If they can't make the postseason, Leyland has to be gone.

Shit, I thought Raburn got demoted, but he was in the lineup again last night. Had a nice game though.

The Phillies? Yeah, their sub .250 team BA and middle of the pack in runs/game is very imposing.

hey... wait...
I got no comeback.
Re: Hey Shoalz
Okay, how about the Rangers?
Re: Hey Shoalz
sheeeet, i just photoshopped inge onto betemit during last night's 8th inning. he struck out instead of getting the gw rbi betemit put into center. since it was now a tie game going into the 8th and 9th instead of a one-run lead, leyland ran purcey out there, who promptly walked anyone who asked to.MgoBlue-LightSpecial wrote:Defensively, the Betemit pickup is a wash, but offensively, the guy is Ted Williams compared to Inge and his .177 batting average. too bad we play this game again next year when inge is back starting because someone thought it a good idea to give him $6 million per for multiple years.
Re: Hey Shoalz
Bad news is losing 2 of 3 from the Sox...good news is the lead is still 2 games over Cleveland but the Sox are inching closer.
Raburn is a decent second half hitter...he's done it the last two seasons. In '10, he hit .315 with 13 HR and 46 RBI in 70 games post All-Star break. In '09, he hit .310 with 10 HR and 22 RBI in 63 games post All-Star break. He's hitting .300 since the break this season. He shouldn't be starting if this team is healthy but he's an okay bat to have in a couple games a week.

True. They should just keep him in Toledo until the All-Star break, and then call him up.
