Up 21-3 at halftime ---> lookin' good.

Buffalo with 5 second half possessions and 5 TDs to show for it.

They showed the blueprint for attacking the Raider defense.
Spread 'em out with 4 and 5 receiver sets.
Get rid of the ball on time - before the rush gets there.
Open up the field for more running room for the backs.

Gashed Oakland in the 2nd half.

The Raider defense looked used up in the 2nd half.
Very short week ---> travel east.

Excuse?

Yeah, they just didn't get it done, and had multiple opportunities to make game-ending plays on defense.

Tough loss.

Lots of good stuff from the offense, though.

Tough game next week v. the JETS.

Scott I watched this game and the Raider defense didn't know what was going on. They were looking around at each other in confusion. I blame the defensive coaching staff for this. Even the booth announcers knew what they did wrong. It's embarrassing.

As bad as the Raider D looked in the 2nd half, they looked that GOOD in the first half.

Few points:

They were out of gas.
Short week ---> travel east.
Not an excuse, but just calling it as it is.

Bad defensive adjustments in the 2nd half.
Buffalo went to the spread and quick pass release (negating the pass rush of Oakland, which is their strength) and Oakland, for some reason, stopped pressing the receivers at the LOS.
You've got to jack them off their route and shake up the timing.
Don't know what the fuck the Raider staff was thinking about.

Even still, Oakland had a 4 pt lead late and missed FOUR chances to close the game.
Two dropped INTS by Oakland and 2 fourth down Buffalo conversions.

Bad games today by R. McClain and C. Johnson -- and prolly a few others, as well.

Yeah, the west isn't looking too sharp, once again.

pops, while I agree with your above post... did you see that last Buffalo score? There was like a 15 yard gap in coverage and they suckered the potentially covering linebacker in that led to an easy game winner. Yes, they were gassed, but come on... that was a sucker play and Buffalo nailed them with an easy game winner.

It was a poor defensive alignment and McClain got fooled on the play, also... BADLY.

Just tuurrrible[Barkley] for a defensive to take it up the @ss so blatantly on a game-deciding play.

Like some of the Raiders players might have done, I came out of halftime a little cocky. Told some friends this is gonna be the first 2-0 start since 2002. Started feeling relaxed as the second half began.

The cursing started full bore as Buffalo took their first lead and by the end of the mess, I felt like rearranging the living room. I loved that long TD strike to Moore but I knew there was too much time on the clock and the porous D would have trouble keeping the Bills out of the end zone for a 5th time in the half.

Some promising things on the offense, especially after the debate leading into the game about whether Oakland truly had any weapons. We heard about Denarius Moore all through training camp but it didn't mean anything until he put up in a game. He did that yesterday. Campbell quietly went about having a great game. Hagan is a reliable vet to have around. Taiwan Jones finally got his hands on thge ball for a single carry.

Sure would have been nice to see them return home 2-0 with two road wins, especially with the Jets and Pats coming up.

We've had this argument before -- and to refresh your memory... I won.

Please back away from the 1950's terminology, Daddy-O... if that's hip.

For the 8000th time -- NO formation ever run in the NFL even vaguely resembles a modern spread.

If you'd like to see an actual example of a sprea, you'll have to tune in football on a saturday -- maybe then the light will come on.

I really couldn't care less what it's called, Dins.

It's 4 or 5 receivers - with the QB gettin' the ball out of his hand before the rush can get there.

And the way Oakland chose to sometimes lay it's corners off the receivers, as they did at nut-cuttin' time, was playing right into their hands.

Watching Raiders-Jets and regretting not starting Moore. He's the real deal.

The guy is a baller, no doubt.

For a rookie, he has excellent skill to go along with his obvious physical ability.

Fluid, natural, runs his routes SHARP, quick as hell, catches the ball well, fights for the ball, is very competetive.

How the hell was he a 5th rounder?
