McDaniels might be one of the few who can make Tebow a plausible NFL QB, if it is possible. The others? Andy Reid & John Gruden.McDaniels was the guy pushing for the Tebow trade...

Re: Mr. Tebow
Years would be good. He's only had FOUR STARTS and some situational play here and there, you fucking idiot. So, okay, exactly how many years do you want to give Tebow
He's done pretty well. His completion percentage needs to improve but he finds the endzone a lot (17TDs) and takes care of the ball (3 turnovers). Those aren't the numbers of a failed experiment. Period. EOS.
You can fuck off now, shithead. You don't know a goddamn thing.
Projects are not football lifers who spent fours years playing for Urban Meyer at the University of Florida. Guys like that are supposed to be fairly finished specimins who merely require a bit of time to acclimate to the different speed and expanded playbooks of the NFL game.
Good job kicking your own ass, you pathetic hypocrite.the biggest issue for any young QB in the NFL will always be the ability to make quick, correct reads. In that regard, his time at Florida did nothing to prepare him for what he'll need to be able to do in the NFL. His responsibilities as a Gator QB simply didn't involve any pro-style reads, and he was never under pro-style defensive pressure.

Not only that, but Orton is limited in what he can do... and we know about Tebow.
Fox has you guys at 20.5 pts a game - and that's pretty decent, given what he's working with.

the only problem with running that kind of an offense, is that you need a defense that can limit your opponents to 20.4 pts per game...Denver doesn't have that kind of defense....Fox opts for a slug-it out approach and in the long run, that's just not going to work with the personnel Denver has....

mvscunt, all you did there was reinforce not only the fact that I am correct, but also a large part of the reason why. On top of that, how convenient of you to gloss over my examples of Cam Newton and Sam Bradford, two guys who had enough talent to overcome the fact that they came from non-pro style offenses. Cam Newton never made a single read at Auburn, he played in a spread, and still he's kicking ass as a fucking rookie in the NFL.
So, basically, you're just making excuses for Tebow. Now, why is this? I'll tell you why. It's because once upon a time you actually pretended to know something about college football, back in the halcyon days of Texas being worth a bucket of spit. Remember those long-ago moments, mvsbandwagon?
See, I do, and so do the rest of the long-timers there. You never showed your face in that joint for years, or right up until the second half of Colt McCoy's senior season, when it became obvious that Texas would run the table. Suddenly there you were, pretending to know your ass from a hole in the ground while routinely getting pummeled in every thread due to your obvious Johnny-come-stupidly "I'm a college football fan! Yeehaw!" act.
It was during that same (very brief) period before you bailed once and for all—essentially, four minutes after Bama beat Texas, and Texas was never to be heard from again—that you decided to champion the Tim Tebow(tm) Cause. While everyone there except Sudden Sam was telling you that Tebow wasn't cut out to play QB in the NFL, you went on and on about his being a "winner," as if that and four bucks won't get anyone a cup of coffee at Java Queef's Mocha Madness.
So, you're stuck with having to ride that stupid horse come hell or high water. Never mind that the guy has just been horrible, or that nearly all NFL people said it was a wild reach to draft that guy anywhere near the first round. Like some estrogen-besotted coed flinging her panties at his poster on her wall, you've hitched your wagon to him, and now you have no choice but to defend him.
Even to this point...
Kyle Orton!
If Tebow was any good at all, don't you think Denver would've had him playing a whole lot sooner/more, especially in light of the fact that it wasn't as if they had him sitting at the feet of Tom Brady or something. Denver had nobody, and STILL they couldn't see their way to handing Tebow the grenade.
Jesus christ, mvscal, logic-fail much? If you'd just pull your fist out of his cock-chunnel and approach this as black-and-white pragmatically as you do most things, this one would be as clear as the nose on your face. It's only because you've backed yourself into a corner with all your Tebow Jock Sniffery that you now find yourself forced to defend this trainwreck.

For starters, that he came from a spread offense so now he should be given untold years to learn how to play QB.mvscal wrote:What excuses?Van wrote:So, basically, you're just making excuses for Tebow.
Considering Bradford and Newton didn't need this infinite "schedule" you're giving Tebow, yeah, I'd call that a major excuse you're making for He That Launches Errant Scuds.
Saying that he hasn't done jack yet because he's barely played? Beyond hilarious. Under normal circumstances the real mvscal—as opposed to the mealymouthed gimp who's refusing to call a spade a spade where his favorite Ass Hickey is concerned—would rightly chalk that little bit of reality up to the fact that he hasn't played because he sucks Dr. Phibes taint.
He graded out as "not worth drafting" by some and "a mid-to-late-round pick" by most...with the proviso that some of that was based on his potential as an H-Back or some sort of hybrid mongrel in a Wildcat formation. Other than Josh Daniels, nobody had that guy as a solid first-round QB prospect/project/fantasy.Did he not grade as a project QB?
Then it's a good thing you're not an NFL GM.He's ahead of schedule as far as I'm concerned.
So, anyway, okay, exactly what is your schedule for this guy? At what point do you finally admit that he was a wasted pick who will never amount to anything as an NFL QB? How many years are you willing to give him, and what will be your criteria?
Oh, shut the fuck up.You bring up Cam Newton but, in fewer starts and much less action, Tebow has won just as many games, scored more touchdowns and has far fewer turnovers. That's the bottom line in the NFL.

But noooooo, not mvscal! He had to go hop on Bevo Ballsack the one time it was fashionable to do so, and now he's forced to argue Tebow's stats over Cam Newton's, who's just killing it straight out of college...and with only a shortened preseason under his belt!

Felix, you clearly missed the part where I laid out the real—and only—reason mvscal is behaving so out of character regarding Tebow. It has nothing to do with Tebow playing for Denver and everything to do with mvscal having to jock the guy after backing himself into a corner in the college football forum.
mvscal's ego is so large that he'd rather root for a Denver QB than have to admit he was wrong. Along the way, he knows Denver poses no threat to San Diego, especially with Tebow playing QB. He can afford to be a bit benevolent there. It's merely passive AFC West condescension.

McGahee is out for Sunday and Tebow won't beat the Lions with his arm...the Lions are 9th in passing yards allowed per game and +2 in INT to TD through the air. All he did last week was will out a win against an awful team. He'll make a few plays and get the crowd into it but the Lions should be a TD or two better than them. If the Lions lose Sunday, I don't think they finish over .500. It's one of the last few "should win" games.

Great. So mv is going to give Tebow nine years to prove himself, in what's a win-right-now league. How convenient. That way he won't have to *technically* admit he's wrong until the point comes when nobody will remember this debate, and half you old fuckers will be 6 feet under.
Tebow will be approaching his early 30s, scruffy-faced and beaten down, Tebowing at the door steps of NFL owners just begging for a spot on the roster doing...anything. mv will say, "He just needs another year. Give him time."
The gauntlet begins today for Tebow. No more winless teams left on the schedule to make him look awful for 3 and a half quarters, yet handing him the victory anyway.
Let's see what Jesus Boy can do.

If I'm an NFL coach? Pretty much, the same thing. Last I checked, though, no one in the NFL runs a spread offense, and the Wildcat is but a fading gimmick. Unless Tebow is willing to line up behind the QB and in front of the TB, or maybe outside the tackle, he has no place in the league.
Man, Trent Dilfer is just lighting Tebow up right now, ripping on his lack of accuracy. "You throw the ball where the receiver is going to be, not where he is at the time you're throwing the ball! This guy simply does not anticipate."
Tom Jackson: "Accuracy? You either have it or you don't. It's not something you learn."

Re: Mr. Tebow
Tebow looked good on Denver's first possession. A good scramble and a couple nicely throw balls down field, one of which was called an incompletion in the end zone, which I actually thought was a TD. Then it was all downhill from there. Same deal as last outing - awful for 99% of the game, which is going to result in resounding defeat 99% of the time in the NFL.

Denver simply got too far behind this time.

Re: Mr. Tebow
I saw the stat:
Tebow has been sacked 14 times in 2 games.
Orton was sacked 9 times in 5 games.
This is a very big problem.
Sacks are a killer for an offense.
But they, as opposed to throwing the ball away (incompletes), keep the QB rating... up.
haha

Of course he does. Tebow is the best QB he's got. What part of Dungver is a shit team in rebuilding mode are you struggling to wrap your head around?Van wrote:pop, that's the beauty of it: Fox has to play him next week.

Re: Mr. Tebow
Oh, he had plenty of incomplete passes, as well. That stirring 56.8 passer rating didn't happen by accident. Yep, taking one's sweet time before (hopefully) getting off a wildly errant pass is a surefire recipe for NFL success.poptart wrote:I saw the stat:
Tebow has been sacked 14 times in 2 games.
Orton was sacked 9 times in 5 games.
This is a very big problem.
Sacks are a killer for an offense.
But they, as opposed to throwing the ball away (incompletes), keep the QB rating... up.
haha

Yeah, I think he'll start again next week.Van wrote:pop, that's the beauty of it: Fox has to play him next week
I still imagine Fox will step in and pull the plug in a few week, though, and go with Orton again - or Quinn, to finish off the season.
Re: Mr. Tebow
Looky there! mvscal finally popped back in!
So, are you ever going to spell out the details of this Pollyanna schedule you've laid out for Tebow's success? This is now the third time I've asked you to delineate the timeframe and criteria you're applying to this guy before you'll finally admit that he never had any business being given an NFL QB gig.
Let's hear it. Spell it out.

It seems very hard to believe that Orton isn't better.mvscal wrote:Tebow is the best QB he's (Fox) got.
