The Doinks just released Kyle Orton.

I'm ok with Tyler.

couple bad throws, tipped balls. One horrible decision...

He's no Tim Tebow yet, but neither is Kyle Orton.

or Ricki Stansi.

Ridiculous signing. This season is over for the Chiefs.

He pretty well sucked at Pitt. Why would he be any good in The League?

I don't know if it is.

Maybe looking toward next season?

You get a guy who can probably do a better job for you than Palko - for the last month-and-a-half of this season.
And he gets to know the KC drill.

Who's your quarterback next year?

Orton is basically the same age and overall ability level as Cassel.
He might actually be a little better than Cassel.

If you don't somehow bring in a guy who is clearly above these two, maybe they have a competition for the starting gig.
Either Orton or Cassel would be pretty nice backup to have.

Maybe you keep Orton and release Cassel outright?

Just thinking out loud for Grief fan here.

Not only that, but he's spent a few years getting VERY familiar with one of the Chiefs hated division rivals. Having that kind of intel can't suck. You know, like maybe a few insights into how to stop Tebow?

Also, the team the Chiefs were due to play in 10 days is another one of Orton's old teams AND desperately needs Orton's services. Even if Orton doesn't play a lick for the Chiefs, denying him to the Bears until after week 13 is only common sense for a team that is still only 2 games off the lead in the weakest division in football.

If I'm the Queefs, I'm drafting a QB in the first round. If all the underclassmen come out, you'd be stupid to pass up on this class.

Are you both kidding? Orton blows goats. Is anybody in the AFC West or anywhere else even remotely worried about this signing?

   Rack the CHEFS for picking up that $2.5 Million remaining on his contract, though. He's going to be an unrestricted free agent next year, so I imagine there'll be plenty of sentiment for the CHEFS to re-sign him.

I'm sure the Chiefs will figure out a way to draft Todd Blackledge v2.0.

Orton is a "serviceable" quarterback but throws way too many interceptions-makes bad decisions.....Denver benched him because he'd given up on the broncos and in turn the broncos gave up on him.....

Why are Chiefs sticking with Tyler Palko?

When the Chiefs claimed Kyle Orton off waivers from Denver last week, it seemed to signal that Kansas City believed it still could win the AFC West title this year.

But Orton did not suit up in Week 12 against the Steelers, after a delayed arrival in Kansas City because of “family obligations.” Now, it appears Orton won’t be in the lineup this Sunday either, when the Chiefs head to Chicago.

“Tyler (Palko) is our starter,” Kansas City coach Todd Haley said during a conference call with the Chicago media Wednesday.

If that’s true, and not just some half-hearted ruse perpetrated by Haley to throw the Bears’ preparations off, then what was the point of all this?

http://nfl.si.com/2011/11/30/why-are-ch ... nfl_t2_a15
This poor fishhack hasn't yet arrived at the obvious conclusion: Not only does Kyle Orton blow goats, he also blows Tyler Palko.

And why not? The money's good and the hours are easy.

Props to the Chiefs. They had a good game plan and executed it well on both sides of the ball. Red zone offense kind of sucked but the defense made up for it.

Can't say I'm terribly upset with a loss here. That whole unbeaten season thing seems to be a huge distraction. Not sure who's left on the offensive line, though.

Looks like KC found their coach of the future (Crennel) and QB of the future (Orton). Have fun with that.

Orton made reads and plays that Cassell could never make. Of course it helps when you have time to throw. He was barely touched the whole game.

Love your passion, Van. Your USC backup blows goats comparatively, though. 'Sayin.

We're movin' on without you. I saw more poise out of a Kansa City quarterback today since the days that Trent Green took snaps six years ago.

I've watched every play of every game Cassell has played in for the Chiefs. If his primary receiver isn't open he panics and takes off running, either to be sacked or to throw the ball away.

Today, I watched Orton check off Bowe and find Breaston for a big 1st down while the pocket was collapsing around him. No way Cassell makes that play.

KC, quit pretending that you know the intricacies of an NFL QB's real-time options/decision making processes. You don't. You're just watching on TV, the same as the rest of us. You aren't breaking down game film with the OC. You haven't a clue as to what any QB sees on a given play, much less what his progressions are supposed to be with X-amount of protection.

It's not just you either, even though you're once again trying to come off as Mr. Know-It-All. When it comes to knowing QB reads while watching from our living rooms, we're all equally clueless. If you want to say that he's not as accurate, fine, that can often be determined merely from watching TV. Pretending that you can grade his ability to make reads, given a nearly infinite number of variables?

Sure, Mr. Armchair QB.

Wags, make up your mind. You just said...
Apparently not quite sure which game he was watching wrote:Of course it helps when you have time to throw. He was barely touched the whole game.
If any NFL QB not named Tim Tebow is given all day to throw, he's not going to tuck and run if his primary receiver is covered.

Apples and oranges scenarios, and it doesn't matter whether it's Cassel, Orton or Tom Brady. You have no idea what reads he'll make given X-amount of time to make them.

KC, when it comes to NFl QB minutiae, are you not also a couch potato? Last I checked, everyone here is. What, are you claiming to be some sort of NFL savant who knows the ins-and-outs of not only K.C.'s planned progressions but also their opponent's defensive schemes...on the fly?

Are you truly this lacking in self-awareness? You don't know dick about any of this, so quit pretending that you do. Who cares if you watched every K.C. game this year? You still have no idea as to NFL QB reads and how any individual QB might handle them.

Give it up already. Despite your usual egomaniacal bluster, you're not fooling anyone.

KC Onanism wrote:it's pretty clear you only watch the ball when you watch a game

Riiiiiiiiight, KC, 'cause when YOU watch a game you somehow defy the laws of physics by watching what's happening in the secondary at the moment the ball is snapped, despite the fact that the camera doesn't even go there unless and until the ball is thrown there!

See, KC Selfsuck, TV cameras do tend to follow the ball, and your TV screen doesn't include the secondary.

Now, if you're telling me that you're talking about watching games in-person, then I'll simply call you a liar, with 100% confidence. You do not take your eye off the QB and immediately spy the secondary upon the snap. No fucking way. You wouldn't have a clue as to what's going on with the ball if you did that, and you don't do that. You watch the ball, the same as everyone else.

Christ, what a laughable blowhard you can be.

Tru, my point has nothing to do with Cassel, who isn't my boy. He never even played for USC. The point is that none of us can sit on our couches and say with any degree of certainty what reads any NFL QB would make amid the chaos that is any given NFL play, especially a QB who has "all day to throw," as Wags described Orton today. Cassel may suck to high heaven, and it wouldn't change that fact.
