Wow, really thought VT got jobbed on that TD reversal. Not enough to overturn that call.

The ball can't initially hit the ground prior to possession.

This was taught to us when we played in 3rd grade.

The right call was made... and Michigan wins.

That was just the Sugar Bowl? I thought for sure when I saw one team with some yellow, one team with some burgandy, some inept offense, and shitty clutch FG kicking that is had to be an epic SEC rematch for the MNC.

It didn't. He had possession, his elbow hit the ground, then the ball hit.

That was a catch.

Psst... he landed out of bounds and NEVER had a foot on the ground in the field of play.

Game over.

was the exact same call as hemingway's catch against iowa, except then you were all getting in line to say that was an incompletion. ponderous.

he's a pretty good receiver no doubt...tough call on that reversal, but given they didn't take too long in the review booth tells me it was an easy call for them....

it looked like a catch to me...

That's because you're a dipshit.

Your body can't simultaneously hit the chalk while making a catch.

Who cares? We should have been watching Boise State vs. Kansas State.

I was about ready to ask the same question. He was clearly in bounds. However, the nose of the ball does look to have hit the ground.

sometimes it's just a fucking catch. too bad for receivers they don't have enough time to lay a concrete foundation under the ball in order to demonstrate I'M HOLDING THIS BITCH!!! i thought it was a catch, but turns out the referees and an element of human error have a say in the game. i'd lay vtach's loss more at the beamer's feet, though. michigan gained what, 180 yards of total offense? they had 150ish in 54 minutes around the time he did that dipshit fake punt? worst case scenario he's asking his defense not to give up 50% of that total in the final 6. michigan couldn't even fall forward at that point unless they could sight the end zone without binoculars. add to that vatech's final drive where they carved their way down the field in 15 seconds only to get into the red zone and go off tackle get tackled. probably would have won it there had they taken their chances.

anyhow, i'm pretty fortunate to be friends with a bunch of reasonable michigan fans, so the myopia is short this side. most of us felt pretty lucky to pull this one out, which fine since it replicates the bend-don't-break most of the season's been. i'll take it since our defense definitely isn't as good as the numbers suggest, which makes me feel only better about hoke's coaching abilities. presumably when he's had time to recruit actual linebackers rather than failed-slots-turned-defensive-backs we'll...be able to beat michigan state.

Surprised that VT didn't kick the FG to go up 9-0. Big momentum shift when Michigan stopped them on 4th down.

shit, i just got done fucking the family dog because i promised the world before the season begun that's what i'd do if we won 9. i was so happy with 11 i fucked it twice.

still, the big ten, and we avoided wisco and penn state. i'm confident we would have beaten penn state but probably had zero chance against wisco's beefy line. things lined up perfectly for hoke's first year: a million returning starters from an explosive offense; half a million on defense who, even though they were ranked 400th in prep michigan football last year, freshman starters and all that; quality starters at key positions; an easy schedule; and teams who should have beaten us self-destructing. i mean, we could have just as easily beaten michigan state had a play or two gone our way instead of ours, but the only way we were even in that position was because they thought punching people in the balls was worth more than the 20 personal fouls they suffered.

next year: we're losing molk off the line next year. season went to shit two years ago as soon as he went down, and he injured his foot in pregame today. you saw how fucking useless the line was today with him at 50%, even with a future nfl first-rounder at left tackle. losing too much off the defensive line next year but a lot of freshman promise in the linebacker corps even though all those guys will be replaced by junior year by the guys hoke has signed to the 12 class. secondary has become pretty veteran. countess will be a star but the rest are just solid. michigan's had shit safety play for 15 years now so i'll take solid.

i don't know what bama's deal is but just by virtue of reputation i'd throw money down one you guys -10. bet we make it interesting late 3rd or early 4th since that's what we always do but 90% of loose balls will have to bounce our way for us to win.

Are you familiar with gravity? It's not just a good idea, it's the law? Seriously though, I thought the call would stand, but there was one replay that really showed the ball trapped and moving. That play didn't lose the game though. I'd blame the felon kicker and his understudy who couldn't tell time. They went as far as a third string kicker could take them. Who the he'll has three scholies tied up on place kickers anyhow?
