I rarely (by "rarely," I mean "never") do the radio thing, since I own a ... radio, but you suckered me with the band that didn't give a shit if you traded their tunes, so long as you didn't do it for profit.

Yes, the Dead were pioneers in the sense that they took the bluegrass ethos that "once the music is played its yours" and translated it to the rock world. VERY appropriate that they get some love today.
