Need some help...undertand this is a risk with you clowns...

Post by Left Seater »

but the wife and I have been looking for a globe to track our travels. We currently have a framed map of the US. We track our vacation or excursions with push pins. We are looking for a globe that has a stand that is made of wood that will allow it to sit on the floor and be at about table height. We would like it to move on two axis so all sides can be visible.

We are also looking to match colors somewhat with the existing map.

So the point of all of this is, if you happen across one in a store or elsewhere, please drop me the link so that I can check it out.

Many thanks for any help.

My wife has one in her store right now. Probably an 18 inch globe on a table high stand. Used of course, but not in too bad of shape.

With your conservative views I would think a flat globe would be more to your liking.

Derron, any chance you could take a pic of that?

One made of stone or stone overlay would not work cause we use push pins to mark visits.

I was thinking basketball size or a little larger, but would consider others if they look good or match other items in the study.

No pins in central NY? You need to check out the beauty of the Finger Lakes, etc..

I don't have any globe suggestion but just felt envy when I saw your pins already Left Seater. I enjoy travel and outdoors especially and have a long list of places I'd like to see. When the economy turned down I was just scratching to make ends meet and even barely was able to even make any savings for the future. I had dreams of my wife and I traveling to many places in our retirment but now I don't know. Hopefully it will pick up and I can start those travel dreams again. What are a couple of the best places you've been to?

88,

Thanks for the link. Sent an email asking a few questions. Like the Queen Anne, but wondered if it came in a different finish.

Wolfman,

That is a place that we would like to visit. It is on our list with many other places.

Dan,

There have been so many great places that it is hard to list just a few. We loved Bar Harbor and the Dry Tortuga for the paddling options. The Kenai area of Alaska was amazing for the outdoor activities and rugged beauty. Madeline Island in Wisco in summer was a ton of fun.

Some other good times were just day trips from home, where ever that was at the time. Plenty of places around Central Texas are great and a good way to spend a Sunday.

Goober,

Looking for the older style where the water is shown in tan, and wasn't looking to spend quite so much.

Been a while since I lived near an ocean, but they never looked tan to me.

Whichever globe you settle on, just make sure Wisconsin is blue.

Nice zoo there, but haven't been to the Valley in 5 plus years. As a kid we used to cross over into Mexico all the time to shop and eat, etc. Now that is a risk I don't need.

I will take a picture of it tomorrow when we open the store. PM me your e mail and I will send it to you with price. I will pull it off the floor for a couple of days if it looks like something you might want.
