Re: Sirius Radio - 50% discount
I just bought a new car with one year free worth of Sirius's Select Plan. I upgraded to the Premiere Plan to get OandA and a bunch of Sports Channels.
Tard -- NFL/Stern comes with the basic Select Plan. No upgrade necessary.

Re: Sirius Radio - 50% discount
You opted to cheap out for one of their Specialty Services where you get like "Mostly Music" or "Sports/News/Talk Radio?" 70 channels for $10/month and for a lousy $4.50 more you can get 60 additional channels? You truly are a Tard, Tard. Owen'ed.Toddowen wrote:Beefycakes- it's an upgraded service. At least that's how it works with my subscription.

Okay. Let's make this an apples to apples comparison. I am speaking in monthly costs... you per year. How much did you pay for the whole year. How many channels?

Re: Sirius Radio - 50% discount
Let me get this straight. Before upgrading, you got 'everything' but the NFL. Now that you upgraded, you pay $150 a year (or 100 for 'everything' sans the NFL and 50 for just the NFL.) Sound about right? That doesn't jive with any subscription they are currently offering.

And the Select plan that I spoke of (the one that gets you Stern/the NFL/a shitload of other stuff) is $160/year.

I've got my account on "auto-pay". Guess I won't qualify for the discount. Will certainly look into it at the web site.

I guess we had some better variety in the Bay Area in '69, though HTW does seemt to have been on a lot.Toddowen wrote:That's a true statement for September of '69. Every single station was playing HTW at the same time. Each of 'em playing it at least once per hour, prolly.
Had my buttons set to:
KYA 1260 - top 40
KFRC The Big 610 - top 40
KSFO 560 - Giants games with Russ Hodges ("The Giants win the pennant...the Giants win the pennant!!") and Lon Simmons
KNBR 680 - Oakland A's, and the Warriors with Bill King, who also did the Raiders and was one of the greatest radio sportscasters of all time. He was doing the A's in the 80s but I can't remember who did them in the early Oakland years.
Fifth button - can't remember. Prolly something that my parents liked. It was their car after all.
Tom Donahue basically started the FM album oriented rock format at KSAN in 1969 but not too many cars had FM radios at the time.

You guys are all getting ripped off. I bought a lifetime subscription back in late 2006 for $400. The only downside is that I don't get the upgraded internet stream that would allow me to listen on my iPhone. I think they want $3-$4/month more for that.

I think the "lifetime" subscription is good for the "lifetime" of the vehicle it was purchased for, not your lifetime. At least that was the lifetime as it was explained to me when I turned it down.MiketheangrydrunkenCUfan wrote:You guys are all getting ripped off. Nope, it's the 2010's. After shave has seen a bit of a renaissance.BSmack wrote:Is this the fucking 70s?Toddowen wrote:after shave
Ask Goobs. I figure he prolly slaps a little on his nads (or what's left of them) after a nice close trim.
Re: Sirius Radio - 50% discount
Holy shit. He's finally gone?!?
Now who's going to talk over their guests instead of actually interviewing them?

Mikey, the announcer you are forgetting is Charlie Finley's "mole", Monte Moore.

One of my fond memories was listening to Catfish Hunter's perfect game on my 13th birthday, on my Heathkit AM desk radio.

Re: Sirius Radio - 50% discount
I don't have a receiver built into my car. I just have an old school S-50 that I can listen to through the FM band in my car or plug into a dock in my house. I intentionally opted not to have it professionally installed in my car so I can move it between my two cars relatively easily if I'm so inclined. I've also taken it on vacation with me and used it in my rental car.Smackie Chan wrote:I think the "lifetime" subscription is good for the "lifetime" of the vehicle it was purchased for, not your lifetime. The only "catch" with the lifetime subscription (at least at the time I bought it) is that I have to pay $75 to transfer it to a different unit if my S-50 ever craps out on me. Well, that and the lack of the upgraded streaming that I previously mentioned. I can still listen to the old lower quality stream on a computer, just not on my phone. If my S-50 dies before Howard's contract is up, I might forego a standard receiver altogether and just pay for the premium streaming...
