I guess I don't follow this shithole enough to know who are the self-important narcissists versus the "sarcastic" posters.

Van, what say you? BTW Van, I mean what category do you put yourself in?

1) Sarcastic
2) Self-important narcissist
3) Self-important narcissist that didn't go to USC
4) Self-important narcissist that is also sarcastic when talking about Can-Am tricycles?
5) Some of the above
6) Most of the above
7) Punt

AP, I'm curious...

Why is the 'Van didn't go to USC' angle so critical?

I don't read the college football forum (because D1 ball is a farce), so maybe I missed him saying that he did attend 'SC, but I don't remember ever reading him say (in the CdS) that he went there.

Did he say he attended? Link?

Thanks Van, for the reply.

And yes Mikey, Spray has gone nuts.

Pity.

Btw, AP can play a mean guitar.

pop, nope, I never said I went to USC. Not here, not on the college football board...nowhere. I was offered a partial scholarship to play baseball there, but at no time have I ever stated that I attended USC.

AP has nothing. His claims of "fraud" are entirely baseless and completely nonsensical. Considering how totally full of shit he is, I'm not even convinced he graduated from USC. Regardless, he's a fucking idiot.

I was in a Can-Am dealership two weeks ago, talking with a salesperson about the Spyder's demographics. She confirmed what their sales reports have been saying: lots of women, many first-time 'motorcyclists,' and everyone who still wants to ride but can't.
All of the danger of riding a motorcycle with none of the benefits. Wonderful concept.

Didn't you get the memo? You know, the one saying unless you actually attended a particular university, you're not allowed to be a fan of that school's football team? The Fan Club membership levels work something like this, although there may be slight variances from school to school:

Platinum Membership
Member graduated with an advanced degree (Master and/or Doctorate) from institution after having completed undergrad studies at same institution.

Gold Membership
Member graduated with an advanced degree from institution after having completed undergrad studies at a different institution. Split loyalty between schools from which Bachelor's and advanced degrees were obtained must be carefully scrutinized to ensure fandom is allowed. Especially true, for example, in cases where, say, a Bachelor's is earned at UCLA, with a Masters coming from USC. Very delicate situation.

Silver Membership
Member earned an undergraduate degree from institution, without obtaining a graduate degree there or anywhere else.

Aluminum Membership
Member attended classes at institution, but took no degree from it.

Non-membership
Personnel who never attended institution. These "people" may NOT, under any circumstances, be allowed to root for or in any way express support or emotional attachment to the institution's football team, nor any other sports team or organizations (including chess club) associated with the institution.

Hope this clears up the matter.

Hmmm, strange, I actually fit in none of those categories (and if memory serves, 88, among others, could say the same).

I received an undergraduate degree from the institution I root for, but received a post-graduate degree from a different institution. The institution from which I received my law degree has no football team, in fact, although it has a Division I basketball program (not very good right now, but has had some decent, albeit not great, moments in the past) and actually is a past CWS champion, even though I'm not really a fan of college baseball.

My impression is that most people who attended undergrad and grad schools at different locations are, first and foremost, fans of the school where they received their undergrad degree. But there are exceptions to every rule.

Nor have I ever subscribed to the "you can't be a fan unless you go/went there" thinking. The school I root for has only about 150,000 living (estimate) alums. It never would've received a national TV contract for football without the subway alums.
