In the next 7-10 days, expect to read about the worst kept secret in Boston:

Gonzalez inks 7 yr/$154 million extension. Just waiting for the season to start so it won't affect their 2011 payroll.

Btw, Mikey: AGone isn't even in the top 2-3 first basemen in all of baseball, nevermind 2-3 top players overall. :meds:

Doesn't matter. Just keep throwing money at garbage and eventually they'll strike gold.

Blow Sux are in the running with the Tigers for least bang for the payroll buck.

Care to re-visit that statement?

He seems to be adjusting fairly well (to having some decent hitters behind him).

Gotta cut ucant some slack here. They hadn't seen much of Gonzalez in Beantown by February. At Petco Park he was a .300/35/100 hitter in spite of playing in a huge ballpark and being walked virtually any time he came up with runners in scoring position.

I haven't seen him play in Boston, but Fenway is made for his hitting style. He's a line to line hitter who hits a lot of line drives to left-center, many of which were caught at Petco. I'm not surprised at all that he's leading the majors in doubles. Prolly doing some major damage to the Green Monster.

Also very solid defensively (2 Gold Gloves), and the kind of player you want in your clubhouse. Well grounded, hard worker and not at all a showboat. Right now he's a serious MVP candidate.

Because you're putting too much stock in 3 months while my take (posted in March) was based upon a much larger body of work. You want to give this guy the MVP and crown the Red Sux World Champs... go right ahead. He still hasn't cracked the Top 3 in my book. Pujols, Cabrera, and Teixeira are better players. End of story.

My original take was posted in February, before he had ever picked up a bat or ball for you assholes, and based on a much larger body of work i.e. five full seasons in San Diego.

Your take was NOT based on a "much larger body of work", but probably one look at his numbers. I actually saw him play day in and day out for five years, and his numbers here were deceiving for a variety of reasons. If he had been playing for the Yankees or the Sux for the past five years he prolly would have had better numbers than Texiera. I may have been high on pain meds, but I was right then and the past three months have only reinforced that.

Go fuck yourself, BTW.

Uhh... yes it was. At the time I posted...

Based upon the numbers Pujols had put up over the previous 10 years, he was the best at this position. He is, by far, the best player of his generation and one of the best of all-time. There was no debating that.

Teixeira had a better career OBP, SLG, and OPS. He had a higher career 162 game avg in HR/RBI. He was widely recognized as the best defensive 1B in the AL. What more do you want?

Cabrera had put up better numbers, against better competition (the AL), in a similarly pitcher friendly park. Gonzalez is better with the glove. That's all you had going for you.

.
.
.

And FYI -- Joey Votto (a 1B) was the runaway winner for NL MVP in 2010. At the time, he was too young to put "ahead" of AGone. However... at 26 years old, he'd accomplished something Gonzalez never did.

Oh yeah... If one of you motherfuckers refers to me as a Sux fan again, I am going to fight you. I hate that shit fucking franchise with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. :brad:

Yeah, I'll have to admit he sucks pretty badly.

Somehow he's still leading the AL in BA and RBI with what...2 weeks left in the season?
I guess that's just a statistical anomaly, though, because he sucks so badly.

As I said, he doesn't crack the Top 3 1B in all of baseball. He's a distant 3rd on his own team for MVP, nevermind the AL. Go back and read your original take. There is no way he's one of the top 2 or 3 players in all of baseball.

fair enough. I haven't really paid attention other than catching a sports line here or there so I wasn't sure how severe it was especially since Youk is out. Would A-Hole be playing if Youklis was healthy?

Somebody seems a little bitter about his team's September collapse. Instead of blaming one hitter, who's BA is.338 for the month BTW, you might want to check your pitching staff's 5.98 era.

I suggest you go back and read this thread... or maybe take a look at an old thread of mine on page 1... or better yet you colossal dumbfuck, feel free to read any post I've ever had in this forum. Then get back to me about "my team."

I hate the Red Sux. Always have. Always will.

Furthermore, you complete fucking imbecile, I never said Gonzalez wasn't a very good player. He's just not in the Top 2-3 1B, nevermind the top 2-3 players. That is what this thread is about.

Can you even fucking read? We're debating a specific sentence in your POS first post in this thread. I never said he sucks. Those are your words, not mine. I never said he's to blame for the Sux's epic collapse. Shitty pitching and 24 errors this month out front should have told you otherwise. Speaking of which... John Lackey is about to make club history. No Sux starter in the last 100 years (with 150+ IP) has had a worse ERA than Mr 16.5 Million per year.

The Halos are just 2-1/2 games out as well...pulling for them to at least beat up on the Rangers in that last series so the Tigers can get home field back in the ALDS.

Big day for the Sox...get swept in the doubleheader and a Rays win...they could tied by the end of the day. The Yanks don't anything tangible to play for...they have homefield in the AL playoffs...but I'm sure they'd love to stick a dagger in the Sox.

The Sox are fucked, especially if the Rays win today. The Yanks can play loose and have fun. They know the Sox are puckering their a-holes, and NEED to win tonight. Advantage: Skanks.

it is a petty point, but Votto was not the runaway winner in 2010. His numbers were comparable to both Carlos Gonzalez and Albert Pujols. Only because Votto's story was better (took time away for depression) did the media buy him as the MVP.

Do you claim to be a fan of this team, Pink Hat? Do you claim to be an actual baseball fan?

Of course they traded this clubhouse cancer.
Of course they traded this over the hill loser.
Of course they traded this underperforming cunt.
Of course they traded this POS who hasn't done shit since '10, and even then, he barely played 100 games.

He's oft-injured, he hasn't produced in years, and 'yes' while the fans love him because it almost sounds like they're booing when they say "Youk", his teammates fucking hate him. As does his manager.

I knew he didn't get along with with Valentine. Was not aware he didn't get along with the rest of the team.

As for being a fan, sort of, but not much of one. Just kinda lost my taste for it with the '94 strike. I usually watch the playoffs and will tune in on the radio if I'm stuck in the car or doing something else around the house while listening to the radio. Have been to a few games.....when somebody else is buying the tickets.

I'm glad the White Sox picked up 'Youk' and his stupid looking dick target and ridiculous batting stance. They are Detroit's biggest threat in the AL Central, so hopefully this cancer brings them down a bit. Although they have a penchant for getting over the hill guys to produce, so it could turn out to be a great move.

Adrianna Douchegalez is the biggest pussy on the face of the planet. San Diego is better off without this broad.

1.) Complained last year that the Red Sox had too many Sunday Night games. Fucking faggot didn't like hopping on a plane after the game for a road trip. What a bitch. So you land at 4 a.m. where ever. You're not playing until 7 p.m. that night anyways so what the fuck is the big deal. Fucking cunt didn't have this problem playing for San Diego, I guess. Suck it up bitch, you're getting paid twenty something million a year. No one cares about your jetlag. Die.

2.) Texted Red Sox brass that he "wanted a meeting with ownership" because Valentine embarrassed Lester by leaving him in for 11 runs. Guess what, cunt... your team used 6 pitchers the night before and someone had to take it in the ass. He had the audicity to let ownership know that the team wasn't interested in playing for Valentine anymore. Anymore???? What about last month? What about the spring? You have sucked all fucking year. Maybe if Lester didn't suck so bad, he wouldn't have given up so many runs. Are you serious with this shit? Get fucked, cunt. Your team is the laughingstock of MLB. Even the Royals are laughing at you.

3.) Gets thrown out of a game because he got pissed off for "getting quick pitched." WTF. You were in the batter's box. If you're not ready to take a pitch, don't stand in the box. Fuck you and your bleeding fucking gash. Not to mention, you made contact with the ball on the pitch. The only difference between you and a washing machine is the washing machine doesn't bleed all over your clothes after taking a load.

Typical reaction of anyone leaving Boston to go to L.A.

And yes, the Dodgers are beyond fucking retarded to take on these contracts. Red Sox management has to be saying to themselves, "For real? They actually said yes? Including Crawford too? Dude, we were only joking! Bwaaahaaa!"

Actually the Dodgers are pretty smart because Time Warner paid huge money for the Lakers and Galaxy so what the Dodgers did was just up the ante for their next TV deal. It's going to be a bidding war between Fox and TW. Crawford will do well because he doesn't have to be THE GUY. There are others around him who will take off the pressure. Once he heals from his surgery he'll be fine. Beckett is the wild card as far as I'm concerned. He's good enough to win a game by himself but can he return to that form or will he remain a cancer and head case? Only time will tell. gonzo loves the NL West so he'll be fine because he's out of the pressure cooker that is Boston.
