Nice little bit of retardation you've got there, Mikey.

Don't see the difference between LOCALLY MANDATED emergency response and FEMA?

You've well-earned yourself a giant

Do you even know FEMA's role?

Apparently not.

(I'm pretty sure the guy dangling from the helicopter isn't local either)

Even more obvious now that you don't.

So I guess you're on board with Romney's take the the Federal Government has not place in disaster relief.
Not surprising that idiots tend to attract other idiots.

Exlain to me why the fed should take money from the states, which grossly reduces the states' ability to respond to disasters on their own?

I mean, who would know more about responding to a disaster in say... Montana -- the State of Montana, or a federal organization that's proven its feebleness time and time again?

Trivia question for you -- after Hurricane Katrina, who had "boots on the ground" faster -- FEMA, or Mercy Corps and the Red Cross?

Fuck that 10th Amendment... Mikey's got a better idea.

Not my idea you tedious dumbfuck.

FEMA under Obama is a lot different than FEMA under Bush.

Do you think New Jersey or New York has anywhere near the resources to respond to this disaster on their own? Try asking Chris Christie about that.

http://www.businessweek.com/articles/20 ... igh-praise

FEMA's role is to provide the resources when asked for by the State authorities, not to run things, and that is exactly what they are doing.

Get your head out of your ass and take a real look around. You might find a world that's a lot different than you think it is.

No, it isn't. It's not even the slightest bit different.

Correct and that is exactly why Katrina was such a gigantic clusterfuck.

Not much into basic logic, eh?

I'll explain, for the economics-challenged: When the fed takes the resources away from the states, they quite obviously aren't left with enough to handle things on their own.

Typical big-government douchiness -- give everything you have to the feds, because they know what's best, and can do it better.

Nevermind a loooooong, long history of extremely clear evidence to the contrary. Just be a good little sheeple, and go under the assumption that if something the fed is doing doesn't work, then throw more money at it, and ignore the obvious shortcomings.

Why do you hate disaster relief? Doesn't take a rocket surgeon to understand that the more levels of bureaucracy are involved, the administration expenses multiply exponentially, which means less resources all around to provide actual disaster relief.

Big-government liberals really are a stupid lot.

C'mon, dins, NJ and NY are tiny little states with microscopic economies. They couldn't possibly fend for themselves. Everyone knows that that fed gubmint hacks are so much smarter than state, county and town ones are. :meds: :meds: :meds:

Man, I haven't seen conditions like that since...

yesterday.

Would have kept fishing if the rivers didn't blow out (that means "approach flood stage" to you greenhorns).
Ever been to the right coast?

You are correct that 50-60 mph winds and huge surf are known as "winter" on the left coast and "storm of the century" on the right. And it is why more people live right on the coast in 1 town on long island than live right on the coast in the entire state of oregon. there is also that little topography dealio where 50 ft inland is at 100 ft elevation on the left coast and 4 ft eevation on the right coast. That just might factor in a bit.

Sin,

Gulf Coasters
My brother, who lives in NYC, had an apartment at Battery Park when 9/11 went down. He and his wife saw the second plane fly by on the way into the WTC while they were eating breakfast. He has a long and interesting story from that event.

A few months later he and his wife, who is from Spain, moved to London and were there in 2005 for that terrorist attack.

They moved back to NYC soon after the London episode and were living on the Upper East Side a couple of blocks away when Cory Lidle crashed his plane into an apartment building in 2006. People originally thought that might be another tourist attack.

Things have been pretty quiet for them the past six years. Until this week anyway.

I just hope he doesn't move back to CA anytime soon. I'm not ready for a 9.0 earthquake. Or a volcano erupting in the Salton Sea.

Yeah, tell him everyone in the southeast hates Spanish folks or something.

Couldn't let that typo go. Pretty funny.
