Not that I necessarily agree with that misery quotient. I'd rather have been close but no cigar than to have never been close at all. Losing in the playoffs is much preferred to having never even made the playoffs as far as I'm concerned.

Whatever you urban dwelling maggot. Around here, you have to drive 40 miles to get to anything basically. Sports city/ sports state/ sports metro area. You drive 180 miles to see pro football, baseball.

I literally lived within walking distance of the San Diego Sports Arena and a 10 minute drive to the old Jack Murphy Stadium off I-8 and the 163. Nobody cares because there are better options for all to waste their time and money... like the beach.

And here I could have sworn I paid $105. But maybe I'm remembering wrong because it's been so long -- all of 2 days ago. $86 for the tags, $19 for the smog test (in which they test absolutely nothing, usually just press the "bypass" button on the machine and take your money ASAP).

I believe it's $19 more if the address is in Multnomah County (Portland), and $19 less if the address is outside the DEQ smog zone (Portland metro, Medford), since you don't have to test.

The $25 thing went away a long time ago.

Oddly enough, frequently visiting the Sports Arena gave me the idea to come up with the monikor "zztop" when trying to figure out a name for Smackchat. I saw those 3 guys put on one of the greatest and loudest shows ever at the Sports Arena.

We used to go to Madre games at the Murph/Qualcomm when a decent visiting team like the Braves were in town. We would get a military discount and show up blasted (shocker to Screwey) in the 2nd inning and leave by the 7th after checking out the girls in bikini tops during day games. Maybe the issue with attendance might partially be related to the bottle neck entrance to the parking lot. Not sure if you've been to Chargers or Madre games, but parking was always an issue.

I haven't been to PetCo as I haven't lived there since the early to mid 90's.

Yeah....we had season tix to the Chargers for years. Never left later than 10am for a 1pm game. Just a nightmare trying to get in if you're not there early.

Petco's got different issues. Gotta deal with the downtown traffic and parking. I usually just take the trolley to the Padres games these days.

Back when I was teaching traffic school in the 90's a first conviction for speeding for simply going 10-15 over would get you a $104-136 fine. I'm hearing now that's now going to dent your wallet $400-500. I'm definitely watching my speedometer while I'm down here in SD.

Access to Petco is a dream compared to the Murph. In the rare event that we go to a game we just drive all the way to the Imperial Ave. exit off the 5 and basically drive straight to the parking structure by the trolley station. Never a problem getting out of there either.

Forgot about LA having two MLS franchises.

Actually, the Rochester Rhinos have had a lot of success in the USPSL (I think that's what they call it now -- I remember it better as the A-League). One level down from MLS.

Since we're mentioning second-tier pro leagues, I'm somewhat surprised that Buffalo has no MLL team, although the Rochester Rattlers may have territorial rights including Buffalo.
