Are you saying the you can accurately predict the rate of return on any investment or portfolio (excluding munis bought only for the dividend)?

If so, you're either deluding yourself, or you should be richer than Warren Buffet. The compounded annualized growth rate of the S&P 500 from 2004 - 2013 (adjusted for inflation) is 4.88%. This includes winners and losers.

Most of the "professionals" rarely if ever outperform the market. If you have a foolproof system to make us all rich, I wish you'd share it. KC Scott might even pay your for it.

I have no idea how you got your response from mine. All I said was a person in their 20s shouldn't be adverse to risk in their 401K. If they are maxing out their company match and not seeing decent growth, then something is wrong. Further, I have no suggestions on investing in the market. In fact I prolly don't know as much as I should regarding the market and investing, but we have a so called professional that handles that stuff for us. He only gets paid when we make money and he gets nothing if we lose or stay flat.

Anyhoo, it's safe to assume that they don't base that off how much he has in the bank, but what his gigs typically pay, including residual estimates.
