RACK the TuneTownians!
The Chat/Radio feature has been part of this board for about 5 yrs or more now, and was established by IndyFrisco, who subscribed to the service provider that hosts the application allowing us to broadcast. Indy also was kind enough to pay the annual subscription fee for the first few years that we had access to the server. RACK Indy for that. Due to his decreased presence around these parts over the past couple years, and the fact that he had no obligation to pay for it anyway, he opted out of doing so a year or so ago.
I’d mentioned this to the TuneTown listeners a few times over the past year, and was pleasantly surprised that several of them offered to contribute to the cause. Mind you, we’re not talking about a huge sum of money here – only ~$100/yr – but still, the fact that the message board and everything associated with it has always been free to users is something that all of us have come to expect and pretty much take for granted. The thought of actually having to pay to come here to dish out and take abuse is something most of us wouldn’t consider.
I’m a pretty terrible fundraiser, mainly because I hate doing it. But some of the Friday listeners had asked on multiple occasions if they could help, so I conducted a mini-pledge drive via PM earlier in the week. Within a matter of a few hours, I had received enough contributions to pay this year’s fee. Within a few more hours, I had enough to pay for next year’s as well, with some left over for the year after that. I won’t say that I was surprised, because I have a pretty fair idea about TuneTownians’ quality of character. But I will say that I am most appreciative of the generosity displayed by them. I won’t mention any names to protect the identities of the guilty parties, but you know who you are, and just know that you have my gratitude and appreciation.
Hefty RACKS to all of you! And thanks to all who drop in when Wolfman, BSmack, and I get in there to spin.

Nice job you guys. Like Sam I don't get in too often (almost never). I keep planning to drop by but the time frame is just too early out here on the left coast, as I'm usually up to something else on Friday evening like eating dinner or going out somewhere with the OL.

I've never heard of semen refered to as gack. Again, probably some term that old timers like yourself use. No shame in that.

BTW...going for a real stab from the past tonight.
Rita Coolidge, who was something "back in the day", lives in the same *small* town I live in. I wouldn't recognize her at the grocery store, though.
She's giving a benefit performance tonight at the High School (they have a really nice performing arts center) for the local Boys and Girls Club. So, we're going to go up there to check it out.
I'll try to report back later about how this 70 y.o. Delta Lady, former g.f. of Leon Russell, Graham Nash, Steven Stills, Joe Cocker, etc., and ex-wife of Kris Kristofferson is doing.

I once heard Jim Rome use the term gack on his radio show.
It was back when people listened to it, but still well within Screw_Menstruation's lifetime.

Re: RACK the TuneTownians!
He is 30 minutes from the 215/15 split. He's lucky I'm cutting him some slack. Big bear is over an hr to the 210. Nice try.
Re: RACK the TuneTownians!
I don't quite understand your obsession in thinking that Fallbrook is part of San Diego when I'm actually in an unincorporated area of San Diego County that's 26 miles (driving) from the closest point in the San Diego city limits.
And Diego's analogy is perfectly apt. Maybe a better analogy would be to say that Oxnard, Ventura, or Corona del Mar are part of the second largest city in the US.
I guess Paterson, NJ is part of New York City?
Do you realize that the 215/15 split is in Murrieta (Riverside County)? Is that part of San Diego too? Dumbass.
Better yet, I didn't have to pay for Petco Park.
BTW...who, besides you, GARA?

BTW-BTW
Give me a couple of good restaurants in Paso Robles or within a reasonable drive.
Also, how is Cayucos in June? Is there a decent relatively cheap accommodation there?

I appreciate that Sam but I'm looking for something more along the lines of steak or seafood, or maybe Italian. You got anything like that?Sudden Sam wrote:There's a really good fried chicken place in Sylacauga.Mikey wrote: Give me a couple of good restaurants in Paso Robles or within a reasonable drive.
If you like to drive like I do, Alabama is a reasonable drive.
Re: RACK the TuneTownians!
Il Cortile Ristorante is THE place to go for Italian with Bistro Laurent a close second and Buena Tavola third. Villa Creek is more CalAmerican and is excellent as is Berry Hill. Basil is top notch Thai. Something a little more relaxed would be Chico's. This being said, take the quick five mile drive
south to tempelton and hit McFee's if you have never been there. The food is magnificent.
Cayucos in June is like Cayucos at anytime, not a place I would stay at very long. It's nice but there are better places close by. As far as a place to stay there, there are mostly small non branded hotels. A better hotel spot would be Morro Bay which is 10 min south.
And I've been to fallbrook. It's very nice, but it's just so close to so many people. That's why I fuck with you about it.

Driving up the "back way" to Paso on Hwy 58 and thinking of stopping in Creston on the way in. Have you ever been to the Loading Chute?Moving Sale wrote:Il Cortile Ristorante is THE place to go for Italian with Bistro Laurent a close second and Buena Tavola third. Ah Creston, where LRon Hubbard died. Loading Shute is good. Not excellent but if you are already out that way It's your goto place.

How about:
"Driving over from Interstate 5 on SR 58, would you recommend a certain steak house in Creston? Thanks so much in advance for your esteemed opinion."
Re: RACK the TuneTownians!
Yea I kinda skimmed your post. 58 to creston? Unless you are driving up 229 for some reason keep heading west on 58 into Santa margarita and hit the Range. Now THAT'S some good eats.
Re: RACK the TuneTownians!
Might try that at some point but my interest in Creston is more for the wine than the food. We'll be stopping at a couple or three places in the area (Shadow Run and Chateaux Margene on La Panza Road, Still Waters, maybe B&E on Creston Rd) on the way to Paso and will probably need some food. Loading Chute seems pretty convenient to that route.Moving Sale wrote:Yea I kinda skimmed your post. 58 to creston? Sounds good
Enjoy the drive on 58/229 cause it's about an hr or two out of your way.

Re: RACK the TuneTownians!
Actually, according to Google Maps, from my house if I go up the 15 and then veer off on the 138 before Hesperia and take it all the way through Palmdale and Lancaster, and then west to Lebec to get to the 5, it's pretty much a wash (depending on traffic), time and distance-wise, compared to going up the 101, which is how we usually do it. Plus, an interesting drive and I get to miss all of OC and LA.
