I would say it worked out pretty well for him. The fanboy stuff goes out the window once you become a coveted high school recruit.

Of course Schmick would admire Miami in the 80s when the players were taking cash from 2 Live Crew.

Hey, if the school you grew up rooting for also happens to be the best fit for you and your path to the next level, then great. But to expect every recruit to limit their options solely to in-state schools purely out of "loyalty" is beyond stupid. These kids are making the biggest decisions of their lives, there should be a little bit more thought that goes into their decisions beyond "I used to watch them on TV". What if the coaching staff at your beloved school is not good at developing talent? What if your style of play doesn't fit their scheme? Why do you hate free enterprise?

On the official Schmick-sense sliding scale of infraction enforcement, those Miami teams he respects would've earned sixth death penalties.

Schmick can also thank Miami for unsportsmanlike penalties that he "loves" so much.

Your 'Canes are the reason those gestures are now a foul.

Thank them for adding new rules.

I for one am shocked that USC fan would have a healthy respect for one of the most dubious shitbag programs in all of college football.

They weren't anywhere near the best team in the country in 1990. But continue on with your points, you're doing a bang up job so far.

The politically correct cock suckers as you call them are the college football coaches. Period, end of story. They are the ones who write the rules.

The officials aren't even consulted.

Miami finished #3 but was #4 or #5 coming into that game with 2 losses. Had they beat Colorado or GaTech, the other would have won the NC.

You do realize that the “lowly” Texas team they were playing only had one loss and was ranked ahead of them, right? The Cotton Bowl was also more prestigious than the Fiesta Bowl at that time.

So what exactly was your point? They had two losses and lost the right to bitch about what they "deserved." Best team at the end of the year? Who fucking cares?

schmick wrote:domer fan tried to say what I had posted about Miami being the best team in the country at the time of that bowl game was wrong and that they were "not even close to the best team", he was wrong. Miami was clearly among the best teams in the country that season and on the field vs Colorado or Georgia Tech, who split the title, they would have easily won the title. The Canes could have beaten texass 100-0 if they wanted to, even with the refs clearly on texass' side
You just fucking contradicted yourself. Were they the best team, or among the best teams?

They weren't the best team in the nation, Colorado was. There were plenty of teams that you could say were "among" the best, including ND who beat Miami.

At the end of the season, Colorado was the best team in the nation. The bowl game where they beat a team who handed Miami one of their losses was evidence of that.

I know part of the reason you don't want to give Colorado credit is the fact CA kids made up a good chunk of their roster.

I hear ya schmuck, errr, schmick.

But imagine what college football teams around the nation would be like without players from Florida.
What were we just talking about?
