RIP. He brought the blues into mainstream.

Amusing story about Mr. King.So my mom about 7 or 8 years ago went to a beauty parlor which was owned by his girlfriend. As my moms getting her hair done in walks by BB King and his gf asked him what he's been up to and he responded he just went and bought some things. She proceeds to get on him about spending his money foolishly which he replies "hey it's my money I earned it and I'll spend it how I please."He then pulls out a wad of bills and proceeds to hand each lady in the shop and hundred dollar bill.My mother included!Think she ended up giving it to my grandfather.
RIP Mr King
RIP Mr King

I have to go with Sam on this. I'm a Howlin Wolf, Willie Dixon, John Lee Hooker kind of guy. I respect B.B. King, and love what he did for the blues, but he was never my go to guy when I wanted to hear blues.

RIP to the king of the blues. Lucille is one of my favorite sounding guitars. One of those you recognize from the first note.
And rack BB for being a medical miracle as long as he was drawing breaf. No fukking way a morbidly obese diabetic balck dude is supposed to make a run at 90.

Very true.Wolfman wrote:RIP. He brought the blues into mainstream.
Sad day indeed, I've seen BB a few times and he was always great. The first time I saw him was at a small club, he handed out picks and pins at the end. I still have the pin, a little guitar that says BB King on it. While I loved BB, like some here, there were other blues greats I preferred, Albert King, Muddy Waters, among them. That didn't mean BB wasn't great, he certainly was, along with being the nicest guy.
Although this Youtube doesn't show BB's band, its still my favorite of him.

Carr ----> Cooper, TD!! is what they are hoping to see for many years to come.
TE Walford in the 3rd is hoped to give Carr help, also.
It's been a sore spot for a while, and Rivera has had some moments, but not enough.
Looks like they've upgraded considerably at C, also.
And of course just about anyone would be an upgrade over Dennis Allen at HC.
Be interesting to see what Del Rio can accomplish in his second go-around as NFL head coach.
I'd guess 5 or 6 wins at this point.

That boys, is extremes in dynamics. Listen to how delicate he was playing at first - every note perfect, and then listen to the singing. Fuck. That is THE shit.
BB always seemed like a great, great guy. I knew he was sick, but I'm sure gonna miss him.
Johnny Winter used to do a pretty good imitation of BB's early singing style. This is 1955

Turns out he was poisoned by his attorney and personal assistant.
I have no doubt that this is true. I mean how could such a healthy young man just pass away unexpectedly in his sleep like that.

There's probably a good reason a member of the family wasn't given power of attorney......

Re: R.I.P. BB King... 1925 to 2015
I have a new favorite BB King tune, You're Mean, a studio cut from the Completely Well album, with a terrific band, Hugh McCracken - Guitar, Gerald "Fingers" Jemmott - Bass, Herb Lovelle - Drums, Paul Harris - Piano. This one is more instrumental than anything. Its the only time I've ever heard him sound similar to Albert King, including the yelping Ah's during his guitar playing. The other thing I like about it is its fresh for me, and rarely played even on Bluesville. The Completely Well album was released in 1969, and like most studio album's it has over dubs (if you like the Beatles you like over dubs), but it's from a period when he was in his prime, and is different from his live performances. It also contained the initial release of The Thrill is Gone.

Nice find Joe.
