So, what part of what I said do you question? The gulf is simply too fukking warm to be enjoyable in june. The atlantic side is a bit more refreshing, would be nicer if it were a bit cooler. Next time I am there, I will take roger's advice and swim a few miles off shore.

Pensacola is not Ft Meyers Beach. I went and looked up the water temps at Ft Meyers and it was listed as 86, which actually isn't that horrible. Maybe there is something to what roger said and I just need to get out of the shallows. It may have even been a local thing. We were at Sanibel Island. Could be that that area is very shallow and has elevated temps from the rest of the gulf.
