So, out of 19 entrants (including us losers), a whopping 4 managed to break 50% (barely), and 2 of the 4 came from the losers bracket?
Well done, BTPCFB Pickem Players... let's give ourselves a big hand!

Props to Spray.
I'm just glad I didn't finish dead last. After starting out 1-8 or whatever it was, I was certain I would.

Pretty sure your numbers are off, but the point is solid.
I'm too lazy to do the math (which I'm sure I've done before), but it works out to around 58% to break even.

Actually, quick math-in-head after beers (take that for what it's worth)...
If you bet $1 on 100 different games, and hit 55 of them...
You lost $45 up front. You pay 5% juice on $55, so the payout is $$52.25 + your $55 back.
Pretty sure $107.25 is > $100.
53% makes you a few cents. 52% loses a few cents.
Regardless, you ain't getting rich, but you have a great chance at getting poor.
On the other side of the coin, a sportsbook doesn't have a rule that says you have to play 10 games a week, nor are you compelled to bet on one particular game (you can bet on one half of one game, if you like), so our game isn't an exact replica of the book environment... but close enough to point out the losing proposition it is.

But my original point was that out of 19, if we all flipped a coin, one would expect around 8-9 people at least to hit 20 or more.

When I started, I made the "playoff" every year for several years. Now, I haven't sniffed it in a few years.KC Scott wrote:

Enjoy the Title, Spray.
