Election thread.
So, an RNC insider who did everything he could to keep his distance from Trump loses and this is a sign that the Trump revolt is underway?
I suspect a fair number of republicans went fishing or cousin fukking or whatever it is that they do in their spare time yesterday.
Let's face it, the malignancy of the beltway has extended deeply enough into VA that it is a leaning blue state now. If the reps had run an unapologetic Trump supporter and lost badly, it might be more of a concern.
As for NJ, Christy was a freak accident. He came along at the right time and talked a good game, but now it's back to business as usual. NJ is nearly as fukked as Ct is fiscally, so it doesn't really matter. We'll both be in state bankuptcy court soon enough.

Yes, he should have been more overt in his bigotry, racism, and hatred towards minorities. That will certainly carry a blue state like Virginia!smackaholic wrote: Let's face it, the malignancy of the beltway has extended deeply enough into VA that it is a leaning blue state now. This is the result of two things.
North Virginia is the swamp.
Enough blacks were scared to the polls to ensure their kids would not have nightmares. This coalitIon is enough to swing the state. There is another problem. The Hampton roads area has hundreds of thousands of military residents that tend to lean R, but they are just there for 3 or 4 years and tend to maintain their home state residency. So they can't vote in Va.

Because even doing everything he could to distance himself from Trump he still has the R next to his name and that's all people needed to see. Elect a clown, expect a circus.
People will continue to pull the D handle for the next three years because the guy in the White House is a fool.
So people will vote in fools from the other party, and when they realize they are fools, they will run back to the R handle. Wash, rinse, repeat.
But this particular administration is so blatantly idiotic it will do more damage than usual to his party before he is drummed out.

Re: Election thread.
State politics, not as much of an indicator as elections on Capitol Hill. Then again, I'm not locked into a party, and vote candidates & issues.
I said it before and I'll say it again, if you always vote a particular party line ( Dem or Rep) you're part of the problem on the issue of shitty candidates.

The dems support sanctuary cities. They are against deporting people here illegally. Many of the MS-13 members are here illegally. So, by my math the dems are for protecting these thugs right until they rape/murder someone. Average monthly S&P return from 1/1/2017 through 10/31/2017
(first 10 months of Trump's reign)
1.42%
tremendous in fact more tremendous than anything you've ever seen...except for last year
Average monthly S&P return for 3/1/2016 through 12/31/2016
(final 10 months of Obama's term)
1.51%
tremendous+
https://ycharts.com/indicators/sp_500_monthly_return
The math is pretty easy.
This is the average of 10 individual monthly returns and not the cumulative return divided by 10 (which would probably be different). But it seems that Drrrrrn is the one smoking crack here.

Which is where the real problem lies. Congress is broken, there no longer is compromise by either party. Both sides of Capitol Hill choose party over country and throw the American people under the bus.
Hard to believe the Democratic stance on illegal immigration is going to pay off in the long run.

Congratulations loser you really are that stupid.
In reality, the S&P has gone up 14.2% between since January 1 (2271 to 2594) so your gains are pretty damn good.
From 3/1/2016 through 1/16/2017 the S&P rose 14.8% (1978 to 2271).
The compounding doesn't work the same if the increase isn't the same every month.
Re: Election thread.
