Well, seeing how most Intel hardware is made in my local area, this is just horrible news. Wait, no it isn't. Guess that helps answer the question as to whether the explosive housing market will continue. I'll bet my buddy is bummed that the house he's getting ready to sell right up the street from the Big Factory is going to be in even higher demand.

Just pointing out that the U&L ALWAYS gets over. Deal with it.

Microsoft going to a PPC based Xbox360 and Steve Jobs embracing the x86 template.

What the fuck is this world coming to?

"Riots in the streets, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!"

They should have just made the move without making mention of it. It really doesn't make a damn bit of difference.

I assure you, that in the alternate reality of Macsters, it does.

Funny, yet true article.

Macs are fashion accessories. It is possible to be a Mac-based developer ('sup pp) but that is just not what most Macs are bought for.

When it comes to hardware, Macs are very inflexible. I suppose it's possible that this move will change that a bit, but I doubt it will. "Gearheads" are not interested in closed hardware systems, and "hackers" are not interested in closed proprietary software systems.

I have to admit it. I have stopped developing (much) on my mac. Since my contract job turned into actual employment, I decided they should provide me with a computer so I don't have to continually wear mine out for them. I got a PC laptop and I gotta say... it's pretty great. It could be that it's brand spankin' new (compared to my 2.5-year-old Powerbook) but it sure is a nice machine!

For some reason, Macromedia products (the code windows, anyway) are just monsters on the Mac. They are so nice and responsive on the PC... and don't even get me started about the IDE I use...

*sigh*

Right now I hate MACs. I just returned from a really nice 2 week vacation from Europe to a stupid fucking G4 worthless piece of crap OS 9.1 pile of shit server. Did I mention how much I hate it? Yeah, so the POS freezes without any errors. Hardware? Not sure. Software? who knows. Logs? Ha, we could only be so lucky.

For anyone not familiar with old Mac OS (aka pre OSX), they used a co-operative Multi tasking system in which the software and the OS hand off the CPU process on a volunteer basis. Now this is a stupid system. Windows 3.1 worked similarly, except it was actually a somewhat hybrid system in which the OS could actually get control for a few special tasks. Not so with OS 9 and previous versions. So if anything at all freezes, the whole system freezes. Lovely.

Anyway, I'm looking forward a long night of moving from this lovely macos9 machine to a nice Dell server. Hoorah for Macs.
