If so, then why don't you follow simple Commandment #1 .... ?

I am the LORD thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Is the Lord your God ... ?
Which one? Christianity's God (and Son, and Holy Spirit)? Islam's? Hinduism's? Buddhism's?

I'm assuming everybody's all praying to the same entity but I'm pretty sure strict followers of each religion would disagree, especially where that pesky little Son is concerned.

Myself?

Agnostic <------------

I don't believe a damn thing. I have no Faith, either in atheism or in a Higher Power. I can't. I have no proof in either direction.

The main difference is we aren't seeing shitloads of (Non) Holy Wars fought on behalf of atheism.

As for the "actual followers of Christ", well, I'm pretty sure all the marauding Crusaders and all the blood thirsty witch hunters and all the leaders of the Inquisition would've considered themselves devout followers of Christ.
You left out the conqiustadors.

And the fact is, even given (mearly for the sake of argument, since it isn't actually true) that all of the above were following Christ, they still wouldn't have the numbers to match Pol Pot, let alone Stalin.

They couldn't even match the numbers who died due to the French Revolution and the Napoleonic wars which resulted from it. Historicly, you simply don't know what you are talking about.

Atheism still wins.

But itis good to know that all ministers are nothing but derelicts and perverts.
Bullshit. Neither Pol Pot nor Stalin killed in the name of atheism. They killed for megolamaniacal reasons, political reasons. They didn't seek out Believers and then ride in waving the flag of Atheism and proceed to slaughter them merely for Believing.

Apples and oranges.

Pol Pot and Stalin both fall under "Gun Powder".

Bace, Dio is a prime example of "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."

Dio knows enough to know about Pol Pot, Stalin, atheism and history in general, sure, but he's having trouble connecting the dots.

Anybody who thinks Pol Pot or Stalin killed in the name of atheism is just completely missing the boat.

You could argue that Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Mao, etc. were "cults of personality" that killed in the interest of expanding territory, power, etc., but I'd have to say that a lot of the death toll getting heaped into the "religious" category should get the same "pass." The wars that ravaged Europe during the Reformation and the Crusades were most definitely fueled by kings, emperors, nobles, etc. seeking to expand turf, increase or consolidate power, and gain riches - the "Christian" thing was just a nice, convenient PR tack to help justify their actions and slaughter.

Not to mention the fact that Communist nations suppress(ed), persecute(d), or otherwise seek to utterly control the religious expression of Christians, Jews, etc. and only fully approve of a godless aderence to the state. Sure, none of those despots came right our and led throngs with a motto of 'Godlessness and Country!", but their actions in attacking Christians and Jews sure as hell marked them as atheist.

No, but seriously...they still do that shit at Husky and Seahawk games. When I go to Seachicken games(being the sauve, cool stud that I am, I'm always getting tix to all kinds of stuff tossed my way), it never ceases to shock me every time...as I sit in my seat like an anchor, refusing to engage in shit that got old in high school, and I opt to continue slurping my $8 beer instead.

MtLR, you pretty much made my point. The Crusaders killed in the name of Christ and Pol Pot and Stalin did not kill in the name of atheism.

Nobody's ever going to take up that position as a cause for war.

It's a cause for espressos and college essays.

Not really. Your point and that point in particular is and will always be pretty lame.

"Killing in the name of Christ".   People were killing before Christ, before a notion of a monotheistic God, and they will continue to kill until there are no more humans to kill or be killed.

That's fucking science right there.

To justify their actions in their own mind. Regardless of who or what is being used, people need to justify themselves when they do something, they inherently know is wrong.

But in the eyes of those doing the killing, it WAS in the name of chirst / mohammed.

The generals sat, and the lines on the map moved from side to side. None of them raised a gun, neither did the kings, noblemen, etc.. They used the name of a deity to get the killing done

What does that have to do with anything? Yes, people kill for other reasons too and they always have and they always will but just because this is true it doesn't obviate the obvious additional fact that people also kill in the name of one's God and one's Prophet...

Look, the bottom line is that if Bob Saget had never been born, thousands of hours of footage showing men being hit in the groin would never have made it to the public airwaves.

A Saget-free world would have been tough on Rayduh James, but the rest of us would have prospered, maybe even flourished.

Look Van think of it like taking a shit. You're gonna poop, it's gonna stink. You can say "I'm poopin' for Jesus" or "I'm poopin' for Mohammed" or "I'm poopin' for my Tribe" or 1/16 of the poop is for the tribe, or poopin' for THE Tribe whichever the case might be.

But the bottom line is poop stinks.

God don't kill people, people kill people. Poop ? Now sometimes that does kill.

Neither God nor poop made my list though, did they?

Kings and generals need a cause around which to rally a warring force and "God & Prophet!" is one of the most prevalent and successful call to arms methods in mankind's history. Reason being....sheep mentality. Highly religious groups do less autonomous thinking than practically any other group you'd care to mention.

"Those heathens are fucking with your Prophet!"...

Sure fire gold, to the puppet master.

Why even humor Tom in Special Ed Class?

Why not go for the throat and cite the US Marine mantra in the current conflict he supports?

"God, Country, Corps."

Tom has got to be in the running for the most misinformed, brainwashed lump of jello on the planet. If he was born Muslim, this guy would have strapped a bomb to himself a looooong time ago.

Mgo, just one little problem with that...

Dude's married to a (female) hottie and he's a devout family guy with a couple kids. Before that he pulled more world class (female) ass than The Flaming Lips could ever even comprehend.

Van, with a pic like the above, if I looked like that I'd be getting more high quality stank than I could ever hope to accomodate. Plus, if that were actually me, I'd be filthy rich and also one of the most talented, innovative and imitated musicians ever.
