I view our country as beyond great by viewing it in the small world that I live in. For instance, my newly acquired pup (a rescue that was surrendered due to parvo) and I have been through hell the last few days together. I got strep throat and thought I was going to die on Wednesday. I didn’t have the strength to drive myself to a clinic or my PCP and also they had zero appointments. I used Teledoc and had a nurse practitioner call me back and did a video conference in the confines of my own and she was able to diagnose with me strep and send prescription to my nearest pharmacy. That was great and save so much time and anguish of driving somewhere and waiting for hours.

The next thing that makes it so great is the County Animal Rescue performed the neutering of my pup on Friday and also attempted to remove an abscess from a bad microchip injection but they did a shitty job on the latter and I was really concerned of how it looked when I woke up this morning. I hadn’t assigned my doggo a vet yet because he’s only 14 weeks and still had vaccinations to get completed through county before I could complete adoption paperwork. But what I did know is the county is not fit or experienced enough to be removing abscesses from dogs. They made things for worse for the little guy and I had to take action somewhere else. I simply googled a vet near me and found one five minutes from where I live that had a 4.9 reviews score with over 200 reviews. I called them up at 11 and explained my situation and they told me to bring him in even though it was close to their closing time. The vet not only saw my pup but performed a 2 hour operation (after hours) of removing a baseball sized blood clot from pup and stitching him up. Then I made a phone call to my niece who drove to a PetSmart just ten minutes away from our neighborhood and got a protective coat for my pup so he wouldn’t scratch the stitches off or mess up the drain tubes he installed for the swelling and blood.

I am thankful for this country because of what I experienced within the past 48 hours for my own personal health and my dog’s as well. I just don’t know how else I would’ve accomplished this on my own if I was at most other countries.

Everyone's caught strep. Out here, 130+ kids were out in a single day. That's unheard of. Do what you have to do to heal.
