Actually, basing an argument on "We're a GREAT team because we crushed a D1AA opponent who beat New Mexico just as much as Missouri did!" is much, MUCH funnier.

But, nothing is funnier than MisterMagoo State losing to a Div II team(Notre Dame)... which almost lost to Div II LSJU!!!

Here's something funnier...
California Golden Bears at Tennessee Volunteers
1st 2nd 3rd 4th Final
#9 CAL 0 0 3 15 18
#23 TENN 7 7 21 0 35
September 2, 2006 - Neyland Stadium
35-3, before #23 decides to call off the dogs to spare #9 any further embarrassment. Morever, we ALL knew it was going to happen, too. Well, anyway, everyone but you knew it.
Comedy gold, Jerry.

Wasn't the spread around 20? USC pushed. What's the big deal then, m2?
You'd shoot wads all over your chimes if your team beat ANYBODY by 20, and you know it.
edit: scratch that, they won by 17 and pushed.

USC beat Nebraska who "skull-fucked" mighty Troy St. who would bitch Portland State who is ranked higher than Arkansas neither of which would stand a change against FSU who almost lost to Troy who got run by Nebraska who lost to USC...carry the 2, divide by 6 and click your heels = it's way too early to know much of shit about anything. Run that through the computer.

3-0, ranked #2 in the coach's poll and #2 in the AP poll...
vs...
3-1, no major wins in your lifetime and once again they put their foot down and re-established themselves as the embarrassment of the conference.

Hey dipshit... Cal just beat the #18 team in the country, by 4 TD's.
Cal 49- Arizona State 21-.
Would you like to still play at Van's level? Or would you like to pick it up a bit?

Look, pastey little twigman, nobody really thinks CAL is a horrible team. Like many others, they're a decent little team, who manage to hang around the bottom half of the top 25 every once in awhile. That's about it. Usually nothing more, and routinely less.
If, in that in ren faire, fairy tale little world of yours, you want to believe CAL is anything more than that, fine. Cool. Indulge yourself. But if you really think your nightly mashings of the keyboard are going to convince ANYONE to agree with you, you're wasting valuable wind chime crafting time.

m2, just to keep things clear here, you're still attempting to pimp Cal, on a CF BBS board loaded with fans of teams like USC, Michigan, Texas, OU, OSU, FSU and ND.
You know, teams that have actually won games in the month of January; games with the letters "BCS" as part of the title.
National titles, conference championships, major bowl wins and countless NFL stars.
You're pimping...Cal. Cal, of Taco Tech and Tennessee fame, and, well, little else.
Check that. Make it "nothing else". Cal has never won a big game in your lifetime. Even their ONE notable win, their double O.T. win against USC at home three years ago, hey, Cal managed to parlay that win into precisely nothing.
You're a funny guy and all and I often enjoy your goofball shtick but make no mistake, pimping for Cal means you're pretty much insane.

Portland St
Meaningless individual statistics
Adrian Peterson is better than any Cal back, ever. Yes, even Russell White :chuckle:
Tennessee
Portland St.
Taco Tech
Portland St
Zero national championships in your lifetime
Zero top five finishes in your lifetime
Zero Heismans in your lifetime
Zero BCS Bowl Game wins
Have you even won any Rose Bowls in your lifetime??
Relatively homely cheerleaders
Gayest fight song in the land
Little Brother UC university that stole your girl, your song, your lunch and any chance of glory
Less revered academically than your rival across the Bay. Less successful athletically overall too
So many asskickings over the years at the hands of USC that you reflexively bend over and spread 'em at the mere sight of cardinal and gold
Portland St
Taco Tech
Tennessee
Abject failure, always, over and over, whenever the lights are brightest

Not bad for a guy who's only played one full game all season, and has missed 6 quarters out of a possible 24 with injuries.
And he hasn't even had the chance to pad his stats against Portland State...yet.
Speaking of...gotta give some props to Portland State. A once proud program in the also-ran divisions, they took a big dive after joining the Big Sky. Unfortunately, they lost to 1AA powerhouse Montana over the weekend. But, their OOC schedule this season is:
D1 doormat New Mexico (W)
D1 top 25 Cal (L-blowout)
D1 top 25 Oregon(will be a L-blowout).
Pretty funny that a 1AA team that's in the rebuilding process has a tougher OOC schedule than any SEC team, all road games.

Dins, check out the OOC schedules of Rice and Troy.
In one three week stretch Rice played roadies at UCLA, Texas and Florida State.
Rice.
Troy was just about the same, with Florida State, Georgia Tech and Nebraska.
Mind boggling.

Troy and Rice don't have trumped up "legend" status to protect.
But props to Portland State, for finally acknowledging that Cal and Oregon have elevated themselves to where they have earned a visit from the Vikings OOC. We're all just lucky that Portland State has now lent validity to Oregon's prior BCS appearences by granting them a game.

Not really. These schools generate a lot of dollars from playing these games. The OOC genius that is Van, of all people, should know this. These schools have scheduled like this for years, and will continue to do so.

Mgo, I'm not saying it's mind boggling that they scheduled those games. Obviously, we all know why they do it.
I just think those are two mind boggling three game roadies.

Wha?
I resent any implications that suggest that Oregon
might be pandering to
financial interests by playing a "at-home and at-our-home" with Portland State....the largest school in the state which resides downtown in the largest city in the state, where the bulk of Oregon's
finacial base fan base resides...
It's not true. It's all about the spirit of competition. Sure, there may be evidence to the contrary...sure, both games are in Autzen, rather than the 20,000 seat building Portland State plays in...
But it's all about the football.
Oregon playing Portland State, I can understand...may not approve, but I can certainly
understand it...it's about the money. Cal? I'm not sure what the motivation is, outside of the easy W. Who in the city of Portland does Cal need to impress?

I won money on Oregon covering this Sat, with what was essentially a pick'em over ASU.
What the fuck were the oddsmakers smoking on that one? The idea is to get people to pick 50/50, not 100% in favor of one team.
May go with them again against CAL. I'm assuming that'll be close to a pick'em too.

I have no idea what's going to go on in the oddsmakers' heads, but looking at the Sagarins, which are about as accurate as horoscopes IMO, Oregon should get about 1.5 at Cal.
Lead-pipe that one. Not a big fan of road favorites, but if it's within a couple of points, and there a significant disparity between home-crowd-population-bases, then they're alright.

M2 may have singlehandedly affected the betting line on this game...no easy task for one man.
But his efforts to make the entire CFB world root for team Anyone-But-Cal surely must have produced at least a little bump on the CFB landscape.
Normally, I'd automatically pull for Cal over Washington...but now, I'm more inclined to put my rooting interest behind a giant meteor hitting the stadium during the opening kickoff.
