Cal is a very good team, at home.


They do scare me a lot, especially with the way USC is getting injured and playing lately

I know there's a forum for this, so I'll just make this short and simple...

It's pretty standard managing to save your better pitchers for the later on in the series when you'll need them most. Poor pre-planning resulted in Wright pitching in an elimination game. Wright should have never been pitching in an elimination game. Guess whose shoulders that falls on? Yep, it's the manager. That was ALL on Torre. Detroit trotted out their worst pitcher for game 1. NY trotted out their best. And we know how that ended up working out for NY in the long run.

Nah. You have a very good team and your program is healthier now than it's been in your entire lifetime. This is the Golfen Era of Oregon football. You're now a for real program, one that can be counted on to approach 10 wins just about every season in the near future.

Despite what the rest of the country might think, this is nothing new. I've spent the last 20+ years knowing that Oregon is one recruit, and one lucky break away from winning the championship.

Because that's what fans do.

Take it from a USC Fan...Oregon is a team that will do the Pac 10 proud.

Somewhere in there, there's a "what did one dirty program say to the other dirty program" joke...but it was drowned out by the din coming from Columbus.

The Yankees will likely pick up Barry Zito and maybe Jason Schmidt too

Zito, possibly(in a move that would be a another step down the path that's gotten the Yanks in their current mess). Schmidt? Doubt it. Schmidt is a U&L guy, and has essentially made it public that he would take well-below "market value" to go finish up with the Mariners(who are shopping for a new veteran ace).

Do you really see Peterson as being a huge impact back in the NFL?

Let's see -- powerful runner, decent speed, and the patience to utilize blockers the likes of which hasn't been seen in CFB in a looooong time. Obvoiusly, he's not going to be lining up as an 8-yeards-behing-scrimmage tailback, but I don't think that matters.

So yeah, I really do. A couple of dominant O-linemen(sin, Marcus Allen), and dude is all that and more.

Trailblazers...training camp started, and with the "new" version of this team, the minute they take to the hardwood, it's "season over"...DONE

Oh, there's some huge improvement in the works. First and foremost, we need for Arius Miles to get healthy and play well...so hopefully some other franchise is dumb enough to get ripped off trade for him.

But see, you must bear in mind that "the sporting world has made Dins its bitch." Following this to one of its possible logical conclusions, the initial speculation that Brandon Roy is the greatest thing since Grant Hill may prove correct, and Trailblazer Glory will be resurrected...by a stinking Husky.

Of course, having the #2 pick(and the best NCAA player in the draft) go down with injuries before training camp even started wasn't the best thing for the rebuilding process. Although they're talking about actually having that Spanish point gaurd dude on the main roster from the get-go, which really wasn't anticipated...he was supposed to be a no-cost, low-risk forst rounder, who might thrive in the developemental/Euro leagues. Now, he's almost assured a roster spot, and may even threaten for the starting job. Lost a draft pick, got an out-of-the-blue gamble to (maybe) work out.

Heck, might even win 25 games this year. Could be a lot more than that, even, but a lot of that depends on the physical, and more importantly, the mental health of Mebo Randolph.

If they choke on that one again, especially after the Tennessee debacle, I just won't wanna hear about Cal ever again.

Well, if they get sent to the Berkeley Bowl, it's a lead-pipe LOCK.

Oregon is definitely not done.

Now, if we somehow gag against UCLA at home next week, get back to me and I might agree with that. But, I seriously doubt that's going to happen.

Coming into this year I knew we would have a "good" team with great talent, but with the schedule we have and the experience we lost I figured us for 8-4, or 9-3 at best. 5 conference road games, to 4 home games. A road game at Fresno State and Oklahoma for Non-conference games. At USC, At Cal, At ASU at WSU and our rivalry game on the road too. We couldn't have picked a tougher schedule.

If we beat UCLA this weekend, that's 5-1, with the toughest half of our schedule done with. I'll take that any day.

We weren't ready to play at Cal, but if we get back on track, we should still finish with a very good year.

And the schedule sets up very nicely next year, with most of our key players returning with more experience and All of those road games at home.

10 wins last year. We should get 10 this year and looking very good for an even better year next year.

And if starters keep dropping, the "new guys" are going to have more experience going into next season than anticipated.

Getting back to the "Oregon is a lock against Cal!" thing, well, I'm not prepared to quite go all the way with it yet (don't even know the spread yet) but I'm thisclose to calling a pissed off Oregon at Autzen plus the points over UCLA the proverbial lock...

-Oregon playing in The Madhouse, where they're usually damn good.

-Soft UCLA playing on the road, where they're very often damn bad.
