And Cuntsberger chimes in with his first bad Cliche of the night: "Shades of the Bush push, there, folks, only there was no Bush."

WTF is up with the black streaks in the middle of Quinn's checks? Dude must've been thinking about blush for a date later instead of a football game.

My understanding is players are supposed to put that stuff under their eyes, not halfway down their face, in order to cut down on the "glare."

There's one of those ND drives where they came up short and had to settle for a FG...

Two more to go.

:-)

So far, ND's DBs haven't had a prayer against the size and experience of Jarrett, Smith, Turner and Davis. If ND doesn't get more or a pass rush than they've managed so far USC will name the score here...

Great to see Des Reed on that punt return. That had to feel awfully good for the guy...

Exactly Van. Nice return for him.

If USC scores a TD on this drive, this game is all but over.

ND was fairly impressive on their last drive, but no way they play catchup all day with USC's defense.

Grandma Holtz was talking all day today about how ND "was looking toward this game, all season," along with predicting a win.

As if USC wasn't. Damn, SC is just toying with them. At this rate, it's gonna get ugly mighty fast.

Damn, your team looks like world beaters tonight. Nice effort. If they play like this against tOSU, look out.

Uh oh...Looks like a possible shoulder separation for Darius Walker there following that fumble...

Hopefully he just got the wind knocked out there but the way he was holding his right arm against his chest, it may be more.

ND couldn't afford to come away empty there. Huge trouble now...

If this game approaches the ND/scUM score, the Domers can kiss the BCS goodbye.

Of course, as I'm typing, SC recovers the fumble...

Whole lotta football to go. Not counting anything just yet.

But yeah, it's November. Amazing that Weis hasn't lost a road game yet at ND, or any November game, and neither has USC under Carroll. Somebody's streaks will end tonight and it's not looking good for the visitors so far....

Yup, and there it is...

Blocked punt...follow up TD...

We still have a ballgame.

To feel safe, USC will need to score in the high 30's...

What empty seats? You mean the seats in the Peristyle end, behind the temporary bleachers? The ones with the retired jerseys and banners covering 'em?

Those aren't empty seats. That portion of the Coliseum's seating has been closed off ever since Al Davis came to town in the 80's and reconfigured the Coliseum...

Way to fall asleep... after taking a 21-3 lead.

This game has turned into... Opus Dei vs Taliban.

I'm not sure who I want to win this.

Why do people ask about the empty seats every year?

It's the same answer every year. And if you take a good look at how the stadium is set up it's more than obvious.

Huh? To what do you refer there?

Anyway, we're still on track for 31-16. :-)

ND's had to settle for one FG and one TD despite four short field opportunities. I don't know if they can survive this one with their rushing attack pretty much consisting of broken field scrambles by Quinn.

Rhema McKnight looks scared shitless, especially on that first drop when he heard/saw/felt Ellison coming...

USC's offense managed to lose all their rhythm when they got backed up on their own goal line following the Walker fumble. They were out of synch from that point forward. Half time arrived at a good time for them. They need to re-restablish themselves with the opening possession of the second half and the second half is usually when USC dominates defensively, if they're going to dominate. An opening drive score would be crushing but even a decent little drive with a couple/few first downs would be key. They gotta put ND's D back on their heels again.

ND's getting good protection for Quinn. That bodes well for Brady in the second half. What doesn't bode well for ND though is the way they keep having to go for it on fourth and long, and coming up short. Playing with that sort of desperation and that sort of a lack of efficiency, man, if they keep it up they're bound to turn it over.

ND needs to hold USC to ten points in the second half. Any more than 31 for USC and it'll probably prove to be too high of a mountain for ND to climb here...

ND plays with massive balls. Gotta always respect their effort. For all their effort though they still seem like they're a step slow. They just seem to play with very little margin for error, giving up the edge in team speed the way it seems here...

Two interceptions by John Booty, errr, I mean John David Booty.

WTF is up with that dude's name, btw? Doesn't SC have players with initials and stuff? And don't they have other players with middle names? John DAVID Booty. Oh, OK. :meds:

Talk about stupid-shit broadcasting, aside from an oxymoron.

How about just calling the dude Booty for Christ's sake?

...and USC's offense has settled right back down.

Tough, tough opening defensive drive for ND. That one hurt.

I know they have to pick their poison with USC's quartet of receivers but man, they've gotta bite the bullet and start doubling Jarrett. Booty's too locked in on that guy and ND has nobody who can handle him in man coverage.

Make Smith and Turner beat you. Make Booty at least check off.

That shit has always bugged me, although it's far more prevalent among actors than athletes. David Ogden Stiers. Neil Patrick Harris. All three kids on Home Improvement, et al. As far as Booty is concerned, yeah, I know he's from Looziana, and them folks down there like to use all three names. But I kinda thought the rule was that the first name had to end in a -y, not the last. You know, like Billy Ray, or Bobby Joe, or Billy Jack. Goin' that route with two biblical names just ain't right, 'less, of course, he went by Johnny Dave, in which case he'd get a pass.

Stupid challenge by USC. No chance of getting that one overturned and now they only have one time out left. What were they thinking there??

Clutch conversion by ND for the TD. That would've been the ballgame had they come away with zip there...

No worries, Cuntsberger didn't say it. He won't realize it's a close game until ND is going for 2, with 5 seconds left.

You must've missed the entire month of October then m2...

Besides, I don't know what game you're watching but the one the rest of us are watching is showing a USC offense which other than for a brief shaky spurt at the end of the second quarter is dominating and a defense which has held Brady Quinn well in check on the way to what's again a huge lead...

What more were you expecting?
