ND will have odd rooting interests today
Indeed.

But let's get something straight, right off the bat:

Now, as to the upcoming game ...

I will again be rooting for ND. shudder. Yeah, you heard me right, fuckers and Lax. That's two years in a row I have to do this shit. Damnit, why can't USC just go the hell away? FUCK

Can anyone here, outside of Jimmah and Van, honestly say they want USC in it, AGAIN?

FUCK THAT and GO ND

God, I already hate myself.

Chime, in bitches, and let's all hope and pray that Cuntsberger isn't doing this game, although I fear that prayer is already in vain.

Fuck me, and GO ND.

Anyway, RF, since you started the thread, okay, this'll be the "ND-USC: Call your shot!" thread I was going to to create anyway...

So, call your shot...

I say the difference here will be USC's defense. They're on a roll now and they're hungry. First, they're going to completely shut down ND's running game. Then they're going to bring everything at Brady. He'll get some yards, somewhere around 250, but he and his receivers are going to pay dearly for those yards in the form of sacks, hurries, hits and turnovers.

USC's big receivers will torch ND's corners and USC is going to get some explosive play from its running game.

This time, USC starts fast, gets up early and their D shuts down ND in the second half.

Weis suffers his first road loss at ND.

Van, I tend to agree with you. The difference right now is SC's defense and how well they're playing. I honestly think SC wins this by 2 TD's. But then again we don't play them on paper so hopefully it's a good game.

Lax, yeah, about two TDs, that's what I'm thinking too. What I think will happen is ND is going to end up having to settle for FGs a few times and that's why I've got 'em scoring 16...

As for the game itself, USC's defense and their speed need to be the difference. They need to at least get some pressure on Brady and not let him stand back there all day.

Booty is the other factor. He needs to be on, and be on early.

Finally I offer this Thanksgiving Day/pre USC-ND prayer:

Dear God,
Please don't let Lane Kiffin fuck this game up. Help him with diversified play-calling and be somewhat unpredictable.

I'm sure I'll have more later. Thank you. Amen.

it's only recently that this has becone a media blowjob great rivalry.....last 15 years no one really cared. Neither team was that great.

same with OU-Texas....alot of those games were not on national TV in the 90's. trust me, i know.

BUT, as the networks would have it, it was Clash of the Titans and Harry Hamlin revisionist history every gawddamned year.

it's like Paul Hackett or John Robinson the Deuce never happened....or Bob Davie etc.

it's a good rivalry when the teams are good (which is my point), but it's not *automatic* that it's one of the best.

Greg...the key for ND's defense is to put pressure on Booty. Their DB's may be able to cover for a short period of time and if Booty is pressured they won't have to stay with Jarrett, and Smith for that long. Hopefully Booty can get sacked a few times and be forced into making bad decisions.

Van, you're right. I'm having nightmares already.

As for the "call it," I still believe USC will win, I just don't want them to. Hell, they probaby will cover, short of an injury or the OU-Oregon crew calling the game. Actually, scratch that. If I were in Vegas this weekend, I'd take ND (+8 ) and SC would probably fuck me.

Yep. CW needs to use a combination of blitz packages, early and often -- risky to say the least, unless he blitzes only linebackers and/or a single safety or corner. If it's the latter, the remaining safety is gonna have to pick his poison because USC's starting receiver tandem is the best in the nation.

biggest key to game is USC defense, improving in recent weeks.

Notre Dame can't stop anyone on defense, a pathetic bunch for a top 10 team. I still say they are overrated, all USC has to do, is make a couple stops early, put up some points early, and it's a rout.

Go SC. Unfortunately, tomorrow's game won't have the same ramifications as the past few meetings: i.e. a trojan wrapping up the Heisman Trophy by going ape shit on the Irish. Fortunately, I can still enjoy an entire city in the fucking shitter because their overrated football program got dry fucked.

Well, the city a shitter anyway, but the Irish losing makes it tolerable.

$C wins this one big... at least by 4 TD's.

This is Notre Dame we're talking about, after all. The most overrated team... not just this year, but for the last 15 years.

Jesus, freakin' UCLA almost beat them in South Bend. If you almost get beat by UCLA... you're not a very good football team.

Who ever gets Notre Dame in a bowl game this year, is assured of one thing...

What scares me about this game is that, after pretty much sleepwalking through the entire month of October, USC is playing much better since its loss to Oregon State. OTOH, this is the same team that was tied into the fourth quarter with KAL, of all teams, as recently as last week.

ND doesn't have the benefit of a bye week immediately before USC this year, but does have the benefit of hitting the soft part of its schedule immediately before the USC game. That's been able to give the team a much-needed confidence boost, and I'm willing to bet that Weis has been able, over the past few weeks, to throw a wrinkle or two into the game plan that we haven't yet seen.

The downside for ND is that this game probably has no ultimate impact on our bowl situation (we're probably headed to the Sugar Bowl win or lose), although it most definitely has at least the potential to impact whether we finish as a Top 8 team. It's also our biggest rivalry game, and a win here would guarantee us our first 11-win season since 1993, and a shot at our first 12-win season since 1989.

The heart says:

ND 38
USC 10

The head says something more along the line of:

USC 31
ND 24

Terry, wooo, with the SEC CCG loser and Texas (much more than likely) now both out of the BCS bowl game picture what's your Bowl Picture look like NOW???

Assuming USC wins out, this is how it looks to me...

-Ohio St vs USC in the title game

-Big XII winner vs Boise St in the Fiesta (Just writing that makes me laugh out loud.)

-Michigan vs...LSU in the Rose?

-SEC winner vs either LSU, the Big East winner or ND in the Sugar?

-ACC winner vs the Big East winner in the Orange?

Man, if I'm the Sugar I'd MUCH rather have an all SEC Florida-LSU rematch in the Superdome rather than having a two loss/last game of the season rivalry game loss ND.

If I'm the Rose I'd still much rather have Michigan-ND over Michigan-LSU, but then again ND would be ranked lower than LSU and ND would be coming in off of a loss and LSU would be coming in strong.

The funniest scenario now would be to see Arkansas go ahead and beat Florida anyway, giving the SEC four two loss teams and Arkansas, the SEC champ, ranked (probably, depending on how far they fall behind Auburn now) lower than at least two other SEC teams.

Also, OU losing to Okie St to hand the South back to Texas would be hilarious. Three loss Nebraska with bradhusker talking his shit against dead in the water three loss Texas, for all the SEC marbles...

Comedy.

This is all some funny shit, especially if USC loses and Arkansas beats Florida. Then we'd have Michigan-OSU, Part II, in the game nobody but Michigan Fan wants to see. The Rose would feature USC against...who?

ND!! They'd be the most attractive team available, by far. They'd be the only other one loss team. So, if you're the Rose and you have first pick of the non contracted teams, who would you pick? Boise St? LSU? Or...ND?

That would seem like a no-brainer. Gotta take a one loss ND there.

Jesus...A Michigan-Ohio St rematch for the title game and a USC-ND rematch in the Rose Bowl. A USC loss to ND and an Arkansas victory over Florida, both of which are highly possible, and this sister kissing bowl season will turn out to be the mother of all suck.

Van, I honestly don't think you'll see a regular-season rematch in any bowl that doesn't have an impact on the national championship. For that reason, I don't see a ND-USC rematch in the Rose Bowl, nor do I see a Florida-LSU rematch in the Sugar Bowl.

USC, Michigan and Florida still have a shot at the BCS championship game, although Florida's chances took a bit of a hit with Arkansas losing to LSU. Having said that . . .

If Ohio State vs. USC in the national championship game:

Rose: Michigan vs. LSU, Florida (only if Florida loses to Arkansas) or West Virginia
Sugar: Notre Dame vs. Florida-Arkansas winner
Orange: Big East champ vs. ACC champ (projected Louisville vs. Georgia Tech)
Fiesta: Boise State vs. Big 12 champ

If Ohio State vs. Michigan in the national championship game, same scenario as above, only swap Michigan with USC.

If Ohio State vs. Florida in the national championship game:

Rose: Michigan vs. USC
Sugar: ND vs. LSU
Orange: Big East champ vs. ACC champ (again projected Louisville vs. Georgia Tech)
Fiesta: Boise State vs. Big 12 champ

That's how I see it, anyway.

Cal would beat Notre Dame by 3 or 4 TD's easy...

Terry, seriously... you should share your drugs.

If Notre Dame was in the PAC 10, they'd be in the bottom half of the conference.

I need to revise my prediction from $C winning by only 4 TD's.

Terry, again, there is NO way Florida can land in the Rose Bowl. None. They either win their conference, at which point they go to either the title game or the Sugar Bowl, or they lose to Arkansas and fall completely out of the BCS. Regardless of who wins the SEC's CCG LSU will now get the SEC's second BCS slot.

There's just no way the Rose Bowl would pass on a one loss ND team who's ranked #3, not in favor of any one loss Big East team or any two loss SEC team who didn't win their own conference.

Are you forgetting that this is Notre Dame we're talking about here? ND doesn't even need to be equally deserving against other teams, in order to win out. Make it a case where ND is overwhelmingly more deserving and more attractive than the other teams, which is what ND with only one loss would be compared to anybody else who's available...it'd be a no brainer. Rematch with USC or not, hey, compared to either USC-Louisville or USC-LSU a USC/ND rematch where ND is ranked #3 is still the far more attractive game that's more guaranteed to fill the stadium and draw higher tv ratings...

Van,

On second thought I'll agree with you about Florida. But on ND, there's no way they get to the Rose Bowl, not this year anyway. There's no way the Rose Bowl rematches ND and USC where there are no national championship implications in doing so. The Orange Bowl did get a regular-season rematch in '03 (Miam-Florida State), but the Orange Bowl had the last pick that year. There's no way, with other options available, that the Rose Bowl takes ND. Right now, USC is looking at either LSU or West Virginia as a Rose Bowl opponent if that scenario pans out.

That's not to say that there's no way ND could ever play in the Rose Bowl. For instance, if KAL had beaten USC, ND would be in the Rose Bowl against KAL under that scenario. Too bad it didn't happen, because it would be a great way to shut mtoodles up. Speaking of which . . .

Killian wrote:Douche bag,

Let me in on that hungus action with a 35-point spot as well.

So what say you, mtoodles? You have a rare opportunity here. By merely putting your money where your piehole is, you have the opportunity to silence ND's entire fanbase on this board forever. If you're not just talking out your piehole, that is.

We'll see what happens, but my guess is that after this . . .

mtoodles is crickets.

BBBBWWWWWAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets see, they beat Washington last year, they beat Stanford this year, they beat UCLA this year, Oregonhas proven to be a farce, ASU is terrible, Arizona is very average. The Pac 10 right now has 3 decent teams and a bunch hovering right around .500. ND is clearly above most of those teams and we'll see how they fare tonight vs. the BEST team in the conference, and maybe even the country.

On paper, that looks to be the case, but I'd like to see something like the Texas-aTm game score, if only to illustrate what a fucking moron Cuntsberger is. During Game Day, dude was predicting a shootout with higher scores than last year's game (simply shocking, I know).

Right now, my local ABC affiliate is showing an infomercial for some Time/Life music horseshit. I know the pregame bullshit will start at 7 p.m. CT, but I put the over/under on the actual game starting at 7:26 CT. Anybody know for sure?

It woulda been about a 46-yarder, and dude's longest is 40. They were in no-man's land - too far to kick a FG, too close to punt. But I'll still go w/ ND bein' SC's bitch.
