I had a strong hunch that regon's east/west style of defense would cause problems with Stanford's dink-and-dunk short out patterns.

It did. I also thought Stanford's pounding between the tackles would hurt more than it did.

It works a lot better when you're not playing from behind and turning the ball over.

Stanford has had several games where they had a slow first half, scoring-wise, but the power running game had its effects show up after halftime and they'd put up two or three TDs in the third quarter. In those games, though, they weren't playing catch-up in the second half.

Stanford is still better than Oregon, though, because they had more yards from scrimmage, more first downs and more time of possession.

But the real question is.....are they better than Cal?

No question that Cal's better. They held Oregon to 43 points this year and beat Stanford in 2009.

You're pretty smart for a dumb guy...

The one thing you left out ... is how Cal has beaten Stanfurd 8 of the last 10 games.

And Stanford won 14 of the previous 17, not including the tie in 1988. How far do you want to go with this?

OK then, 2-2 in the last four years. Nothing else could be considered even close to "recent history". No current players were around before that.

Is 2010 "recent"?

When Furd dropped the most points in Big Game history against that celebrated-by-you D?

Yes I do, as a matter of fact. I've heard the story at least 100 times, and it has nothing to do with this discussion.

Fuck off. I grew up in Palo Alto. Local history is Stanford history. The two Jr. High Schools I went to were both named after early Presidents of the University. Both parents and my sister are alumni. Prolly 50% of my high school class had parents who worked there.

You want to see the story here, then C&P it yourself.
