Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it. We have become a nation of gutless, dumbed down morons hopelessly addicted to catastrophic levels of government spending. Public education has failed and by deliberate design.
We are electing the new captain of the Titanic. We've already hit the iceberg but the band will play on for a bit longer.

Not into politics, but yeah they've given me all I need to know, and I'm damn sure not voting for Romney. :brad:
Former Justice Department official Patrick Trueman, who proudly participated in federal pornography prosecutions during their “heyday” in the late 1980s and early 1990s, told The Daily Caller that Mitt Romney’s campaign assured him that Romney would “vigorously” prosecute pornographers if elected president.
Trueman, the president of Morality in Media, contacted the Romney campaign earlier this year about the “untreated pandemic” of Internet pornography. “They got back to us right away,” he said.
Bob Flores, another former Justice Department official who prosecuted pornographers, accompanied Trueman to an hour-long meeting with Romney foreign and legal policy director Alex Wong, Trueman said.
“Wong assured us that Romney is very concerned with this, and that if he’s elected these laws will be enforced,” Trueman told TheDC. ”They promised to vigorously enforce federal adult obscenity laws.”
Trueman said he would like for Romney to speak publicly about cracking down on porn, but believes Romney avoids the subject because he “saw that Rick Santorum got beat up in the mainstream press for being so forthright.”
“With respect to Romney, I believe him,” said Trueman, “but I’d like to make sure he means it.”
Trueman said convictions for distributing porn that displays group sex, simulated rape, incest, psuedo child porn, violence or unusual fetishes — such as “scat” porn — are relatively easy. But, he said, “unless it’s just waist-up nudity of women’s breasts it probably can be found obscene somewhere in the country.”

That isn't even pretzel logic. It's just pure wishful thinking. I get it. I keep having this same conversation with my Dad. He thinks the same way.
Unfortunately, we're 16 trillion dollars in debt and the hole gets deeper by 4 billion dollars every day. We can't grow our way out of this hole and we can't tax our way out of it especially with our diminishing taxbase. It's over. Humpty Dumpty has had his great fall and all the Fed's horses and all the Fed's men will not able to put him together again.
The crash and burn is inevitable. We could shut down the entire Federal government, delete every department, agency and contractor and it would not suffice to balance the budget. We are now locked into a state of permanent deficit spending and that is a death spiral. Sure there will be people living in the geographic area formerly known as the United States and they might even call themselves Americans, but the country we know is a headless chicken running around spraying red ink all over the barnyard.
Change, if it comes at all, will be coming out of the barrel of a gun not the voting booth.

Just like Bubba Cliton never had sex with that woman since she just sucked him off. Jizzarofellatio sucks off the state for his college, but since 90% of it was paid by the state, it is not tax subsidized.
Typical liberal thinking.

The U.S. has one of the lowest rates of economic shift by individuals (getting rich by "pulling yourself up by your bootstraps" and climbing the ladder of success) in the industrialised world.

4 billion dollars every 24 hours and accelerating. Tick tock.
Why do you think all the global money has been pouring into US Treasuries if we're destined for a Greece like apocolypse?
Because there is nowhere else to put it. For better or for worse, the USA is the engine that drives the global economy. When we crash and burn, the world will crash and burn. There won't be anyone to buy cheap Chinese shit. There won't be anyone on the other end of the line for Indian and Filipino call centers. There won't be any buyers for high end European exports.
The global economy we know today was the step forward and the future our children experience will be the proverbial two steps back. It isn't the first time something like this has happened. The last time it lead to a thousand years of darkness and squalor before we began to relearn things that were common knowledge centuries before.

Doubtful. It'll be closer than you think.
Indeed. CBS/New York Times has BO trailing by one (and yes, within the margin of error).
I'd ask Jsc if he'd like to re-think his post - but it's clear he didn't think about it the first time before he posted it.
BTW, the president isn't exactly helping his own cause:
"If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
As a small business owner, I was insulted by the arrogance and stupidity of Obama's statement. But I also realize it wasn't directed to folks like me - we aren't going to vote for him anyway.
Of course, the "that" in the quote refers to "this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive," and "roads and bridges," not to your "business." But keep spinning it nonetheless.
And Obama is right. If you have a small business that succeeded, that was due in part to the fact that government built the roads that allow your customers to come to you (and your employees and you to come to work), that government developed, or helped develop, certain things like the Postal Service and the internet which help you to conduct your business, and that government helped to educate yourself and your employees. All he was saying is that no one, including himself, accomplished his/her success entirely on his/her own.
Oh, and as to your thoughts on the election, latest electoral college projection has Obama winning 332-206. http://www.electoral-vote.com/. What's more, Romney would need a sweep of the states where current margin is </= 4% (Pennsylvania, Ohio, North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, New Hampshire) to eke out a narrow 270-268 win.
But sadly, I think Smackie is right. Too many people are going to vote for the empty suit assclown the Republicans nominated because of his skin color, or the fact that he plays for their "team."

Oh, and let's not forget, there is the little issue of the press release in a Honolulu newspaper announcing his birth in August 1961. Apparently, the Republican/birther crowd must believe that Obama also owns a time machine and was able to transport himself back to Honolulu in 1961 to plant that announcement in the local fishwrap.

I was helping out at the Houston Housing Authority during the last election and asked a ton of folks why they were voting for the current idiot. There reply was "because he looks like me", 90% couldn't name something they agreed with him policy wise.
