When you're retired with family all over the rest of the country, why not GTFO early. Hell, why sit in SFLA and bake anyway, this time of year. My mom who lives in wolfie's neck of the wood went to a friends in Tampa. It is looking like that won't be much better. Should have flown up here.

At 8' elevation I damn well hope he bailed out, the storm surge will be vicious if this thing stays West of him. The way this thing is tracking there is a very real chance we will see the eye here. I expect power will be gone within 14-20 hours from now. Hunkered down and waiting at this point.

Buc, my mom bailed on ft Meyers to stay with friends in Tampa. Kinda seems like she ran the wrong way. How far above sea level is most of Tampa?

Most of the area is far enough above sea level to not worry about surge. As long as she's a bit inland away from the gulf, bay and a couple of the larger rivers she will be fine. There may be some localized street flooding from the rain but definitely not a Houston level event.

I also just heard that Irma is experiencing some wind sheer. Hopefully it weakens her a bit more on it's approach.

Yeah, looks like it hung a right turn at Ft Meyers. Very good news.....unless you're in Melbourne.

And yeah, the catastrophe whores on fox/cnn/etc are doing their best to keep it alive.

Hopefully wolfie and my mom will have homes to return to.

Just heard some dude in Key Largo interviewed. Said damage is minimal, mostly landscaping.

This thing was allegedly a very strong 3 or 4 when it rolled through. I am starting to wonder Irma may have just had a really good press secretary. It definitely was a very large storm and was quite ferocious when it raped a few eastern Caribbean Islands, but I think Cuba knocked a fair bit of the stuffing out of it, but, that wouldn't play as well for the TV audience.

The mayor of Punta Gorda, just north of Ft Myers, said they were largely spared as best she can tell. This place was decimated by Charlie about a 12 or 13 years ago.

Yacht builder stocks up in early trading today.

You would think that if you had the money for a 50 ft sailboat, you'd also have the money to get it the fukk out of the way of a bigass storm.

Good god, dude. We're more prepared for stuff like this over this way.
Ya think? I'd guess we're probably more prepared for earthquakes than you are. Maybe there's a reason for that.

Glad to hear the damage has less than predicted in some areas. Still plenty to go around though. You and 'holic seem disappointed.

In 'holic's yard, this doesn't even count as landscape damage.

I'm in the next town over and you can't really tell that a hurricane went through this area.

Have been without power for 2 days, but that's ok.

This area is totally not prepared to take a direct hit from a major hurricane.

Good to hear you are fine Mucho. Here's hoping the power comes on soon. Sucks not having conditioned air.

That's good to hear. I'm glad you rode it out alright. I should have never been worried about my uncle. My parents called him up after the storm passed and asked him if he had any problems. He replied that he was fine and that he had two women looking after him, two much younger women looking after him and that he didn't have any problems. Anybody who knows my uncle should not be surprised at this.

Sounds like your Uncle is weathering the "aftermath" pretty well.

He's prolly looking forward to the next storm.

The media was definitely hoping for the worst here, couldn't take another minute of local or national news from Sunday morning on. I travel through 4 separate counties here for work weekly. Some areas look like not a damn thing happened, others look like N. Korea dropped a nuke. All from wind damage. If a real storm rolls through here we are truly fucked.

Glad to hear Mucho is good, hope to hear from Wolf soon.

Thanks for the well wishes all.

I hope you are getting somewhat back to normalcy Coogs, this is nothing compared to what you all are dealing with.

Worst part of the weekend was preempting all the football I was looking forward to.

“You go to other places in Macon and it looks fine. It looks like nothing is wrong. They have power back everywhere,” Street said. “Here, it’s a different story.”

Tom McMahon was walking his dogs, Ginger and Daisy, down Jackson Springs Road, where trees tore through the roofs of a couple of houses.

“It’s horrible around here,” McMahon said after getting a good look Thursday morning. “It’s heartbreaking because this neighborhood is all about these trees.”

Yeah gee I wonder why a bunch of trees all planted on a street 100 years ago all came down in the same storm. :meds:

Are you seriously too ignorant to understand the points? JFC, man. I'm going to be nice and say that you're fucked up because you're lonely on a Saturday night. Try reading it again when you're sober.

Fuck!
You said they were trees and that you have lots of trees which I never said they weren't and I never said you didn't then you dropped some non sequitur about rain in California and liberals. So yes that is incoherent dibble (and drivel) when trying to understand why a bunch of trees that were all planted at the same time on streets 100 years ago all came down in the same big storm. :meds:
This is why I rarely post to you. You are the dumbest one of a bunch of idiots.

And MS - I know you're a inbred cunt dumplin', but there are a LOT of trees around here. We have other things than concrete here as opposed to where you're at. We also have thunderstorms here ALL of the time that doesn't wipe us out. Pussies like you cry if you have one T'storm pop up per year.

That's seriously fucking hilarious. Even funnier is how all of those atheist liberals quickly turn to god during stuff like that. It's not uncommon for us to get 3-4 of those per week here in the summer.

Grow a ball. At least one.
They have a name for this in most of Florida at least 8 months a years. It's called 4:30 PM.

My dad lives in Kissimmee just south of Orlando in a gated community. The water came right up to the edge of his house, but he's on a little higher ground than much of the village. They evacuated everyone as power was out. As far as I know, power is still out. Florida doesn't drain very well.
