Wait a second here. Back up.

Jess, did you even read a single post in this thread? How on earth did you think that listing a bunch of stupid ass wrestlers fit what's been going on in this thread? Seriously.

You didn't even attempt to make it funny by attributing that list to, well, okay, screw it, there was no way in hell to make that thing funny.

So, are you actually saying a bunch of wrestlers would be your pick for the biggest enemies of mankind?

I mean, geez, even for you...wtf, dude?? What possessed you to hit "submit" with that?? What were you "thinking"??

That might literally be the worst post ever, Jess. Ever. Fuck the World Cup or the Stanley Cup or the Yellow Jersey. You might've just locked up the hardest title to capture in all of human endeavor: Worst Internet Post Ever.

Dio, the followers of Christ and Muhammed have done more physical harm to mankind than just about any other man made phenomenon in history.

Also, almost nothing has prevented more people from actually taking responsibility for improving their lot in life here on earth than the worshipping of Christ and Muhammed.

For the past thousand years so much human potential and so much human life in the real here and now on earth has been sacrificed in lieu of fairy tales involving promises of after life paradise.

Tobacco?

If organized religion isn't the devil on earth than smoking is. Can't think of too many other things that more predictably and consistently ruin one's quality of life before eventually administering the kill shot. Millions upon millions upon millions, never ending, the numbers forever swelling...

Seriously van, was just adding a little light heartedness to this thread.

Mankind's worst enemies? I'd agree with your #1 Religon/"God"/ but also throw in with it politics, national pride, organizational living.

The fact that we all follow certain leaders that we accept what they do despite whether we individually agree with that they do in any affairs.

How about our inability to care about global warming or poverty or racism, etc?

Sure many do care but its never going to be enough for us to do anything about what keeps happening.

Peace will never happen.

Wars will always be raging.

Technology is an enemy. sure we have gained fuel effecient cars, cured some diseases, are able to get from point a to point b in 2 hours to a day. We can communicate with anyone anywhere at anytime. But technology also advanced our bad sides, there are more guns, more bombs, more tanks, more planes, nuclear missiles in every feuding country. Results more deaths, rapes, child molesters, etc.

Sometimes the enemies that we have makes you wish you could declare your own independence from all nations.

I am so sick of the party systems and how divided we still are as a nation not to mention the entire planet.

I would embrace with open arms the world embracing the fact we are all the same, we are all humanity. We can still believe in different gods, follow different rules, but humanity as one on the entire planet would be stronger than any other force in the universe. But that would never be the case because of everyone's ability to think for themselves, there would always be rebels, revoultions, etc.

Mankind's worst enemy is that we are never happy with what we have.

Global warming causes worse natural disasters, buddy, and we've been causing it since we've been here

You have no clue if that's true, Jess. The globe has warmed and cooled countless times over history and mankind will never be able to pinpoint the cause of any specific natural disasters to a man made gradual cooling or warming.

That burrito you ate for lunch had a greater impact on your body temperature than 100 years of global warming ever had on the earth's overall climate. We're talking, what, 1 degree; a degree swing that in no way can be positively proven to be the result of anything man did to cause it.

The globe was cooling and warming periodically long before man ever gained the dominion.

Dio, atheism is just another faith based set of beliefs, just like organized religion.

The main difference is we aren't seeing shitloads of (Non) Holy Wars fought on behalf of atheism.

As for the "actual followers of Christ", well, I'm pretty sure all the marauding Crusaders and all the blood thirsty witch hunters and all the leaders of the Inquisition would've considered themselves devout followers of Christ.

In fact, they would've been happy as punch to kill you right there on the spot had you the temerity to suggest otherwise.

Also, organized religion is the absolute prize winner of all time in teaching people that they don't have to be accountable for their actions here on earth.

Many Christian followers believe they can make no effort at all to better themselves as human beings, 'cause there's the afterlife to reward them. They've come to believe that they can slaughter non believers. They've come to believe that they can do practically anything and commit any crime...'cause all they have to do is "repent" at some point before they die.

"Confession", for some brutal animal gang leader who spends his days doing mostly nothing but evil?

If anything takes away a person's real sense of accountability it's having faith that some anthropomorphic deity will absolve them of any and all sins and responsibilites. Hell, so many "believers" think all that's required of them is to attend church and maybe do their best to try to adhere to the 10 fucking Commandments.

The 10 Commandments? Those are just basic rules of living which the average monkey with any sort of a conscience ought to naturally follow, and without first having to have it beaten over his head by some derelict Sunday School preacher/pervert.

Posted: Fri Jun 30, 2006 7:55 am

"Adhering" to the 10 commandments isn't nearly as important as fighting to have them displayed in schools, courthouses and all public places. Most of the people who yammer on and on about the commandments couldn't recite them to save their lives.

You left out the conqiustadors.

And the fact is, even given (mearly for the sake of argument, since it isn't actually true) that all of the above were following Christ, they still wouldn't have the numbers to match Pol Pot, let alone Stalin.

They couldn't even match the numbers who died due to the French Revolution and the Napoleonic wars which resulted from it. Historicly, you simply don't know what you are talking about.

Atheism still wins.

But itis good to know that all ministers are nothing but derelicts and perverts.
