This is my belief when it comes to these authors concerning articles, Op-Eds, and books about Trump: If your fear is that Trump is wildly reckless and a danger to the Republic, then penning and publishing these pieces would have the exact opposite effect that you claim to want. Loudly proclaiming Trump’s propensity towards dangerous actions or decisions and then tell everyone that he is surrounded by likeminded individuals like the author who are determined to act as guardrails against Trump’s own worse instincts only serves to marginalize these people (if there really are such people in “senior administration” positions) by making The Donald even more paranoid and suspicious of those advisors surrounding him.
This is why I find it implausible that the Op-Ed writer is an actual senior official. It negates any influence he would otherwise have. As for the Woodwards and Omarosas of the world, they are in it for themselves and their bank accounts, fame, or relevance— whatever motivations they have.
