Barnett to Mizzou in '06?

He wanted the job before Smith or Pinkel got it.
He does want the job, he knows the potential the program could be. The $$$, booster support, fan base is there. They need the right man and they could finally beat those cocksuckers from Lawrence.
But i'm not sure he is the right man, Peterson at TCU??? Price at Utep(mu connection and stull was MU head coach, now ad at Utep)
Something has to be done immediately. Colorado media asked if the team has been this poorly coached all year, MU fan knows the answer there.

Barnett is a good (mediocre?) coach. He's good at getting teams with less talent to overachieve, but it remains to be seen if he can build a true national power. He's better than what you've got now, just like he's better than what we had then (Neuweasel), but I don't know if I'd get too jacked up over the guy. If your goal is to be a semi-consistent 8 or 9 win team, then he's your guy. But that might be his plateau...

i don't think it's gonna happen. Barney is pretty loyal/stubborn to a fault. He may see MU as his dream job and there's no doubt there's always going to be heavy anti-football flak at CU/in Boulder....but it seems more fan board driven than anything else. and he's got a proactive AD who is REALLY behind marketing the program in the state and Denver area whereas the previous AD was more likely having a couple lagers over a long lunch.
i think the GB extension offer is all but a done deal. You never know though, i've heard some pretty nasty rumors over the last year and a half on campus at CU. i could see both parties wanting to part ways.
i'd say Barney is about an 80% stay. i also don't think Pinkel will get the axe....they've still got a shot to be bowl eligible. MU has been to 3 bowls in 22 years.

If Mizzou wants Barnett, Mizzou will have to give a written guarantee to have several subdued-light hotties on hand who won't mind taking on an occasional 5th or 6th darkie at off-campus recruitingbangs.

As for Pinkel wasting the Brad Smith years, there would be no Brad Smith at Mizzou without Pinkel.
soph: make him into pocket passer, failure
junior: see sophmore year
senior: change whole offensive scheme
Pinkel is a genius
After all the thugsker bullshit you are jocking Barnett? Uh OK.
Seriously though, Barnett is a solid coach and an upgrade over Pinkel who can't seem to do jack outside of Columbia. If CU runs the board in the north(ISU will be tough at Ames) his value will be high as it is likely to get and it will be as good a time as any for Barnett to jump.
But like you said there are other options. Price and Patterson are definitely good coaches(wouldn't mind either coaching the skers right now). Pat Hill from Fresno would be another worth looking at.

You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
I believe hill is waiting for the big pac10 job in Cali. I think hes a hell of a coach, but not sure MU would be a big upgrade in jobs.Danimal wrote:After all the thugsker bullshit you are jocking Barnett? Uh OK.![]()

Price or patterson, i'm no burnett fan, but he wants the job, and it looks like they will offer him the job when he is ready. a kinda sorry for fucking you when you wanted the job last time. It's the MU way.

I think that ship already sailed a number of years ago. Barnett's stock was at an all-time high after he took Northwestern to the Rose Bowl. Every program in the country looking to make a coaching change had him at or near the top of their list; in fact, he was the first choice of a sizable portion of ND's fanbase to replace Holtz.Danimal wrote:If CU runs the board in the north(ISU will be tough at Ames) his value will be high as it is likely to get and it will be as good a time as any for Barnett to jump.
Short of winning multiple national championships, I don't see his stock ever getting that high again.
