Hey Van

Post by RadioFan »

Nice "dominant" performance by your team.

The only thing that sucks worse than USC squeaking by tonight (at HOME) is that it will likely make them stronger, when they play in the MNC (at HOME, for all practical purposes).

Btw, Van, take all your "dominance" bullshit, and stick it up your ass. It takes LUCK, along with talent to win a MNC.

OU did it in 2000. You're just insane if USC comes away this year with a MNC, and you come in here talking all about "dominance." Fuck that, and fuck you.

Admit it, they got lucky tonight.

Btw, I hope they lose, just on principle alone. Leinart will never make it in the NFL ... not with receivers wide open tonight, and him not being able to hit them.

Fucking Lucky-ass bullshit.

I seriously want the ref crew that was calling the Taco Tech-OU game today to do the Texas-USC game in the Rose Bowl. That steller Big 12 crew ... yeah that's the ticket for "domination."

After all, USC is going to "dominate" anyway, right?

Not so fast, my friends. We've got a 17th mens on the field.

Btw, I forget the conference Fresno plays in these days, but, after all, it must be a tough one, right? I mean, USC can't actually be allowed to be challenged in prime time, right? Or is it just on ABC that they can't be challenged?

Jesus fucking Christ.

RF, what's with the hostility?

USC's defense and special teams looked like shit tonight. Bonafide.

Some of the credit must go to a very good and very experienced FSU offense led by a senior QB who's been there since dirt was new. Some of the blame must go to USC's passive approach this time on defense, plus their one true achilles' heel, their inept special teams. (At least their place kicker had a good game for once...)

Ever notice how teams sometimes seem to move the ball all over USC early and then the third quarter arrives and suddenly USC abandons their "bend but don't break" passive defensive approach in lieu of actually going after the QB? It always leads to a slew of turnovers and it pisses me off to no end the way they don't attack like that all the fucking time!!

Thing is, in order to beat USC you still have to actually have more points on the board than they do at the conclusion of sixty minutes (or more) of play. Merely looking good and moving the ball and scoring effectively isn't enough. You have to stop USC's offense more than their defense stops your offense.

Until this offense graduates or loses to the NFL its key components it's going to continue to prove to be very difficult to stick that final killing dagger in USC.

To date, it hasn't happened. Nobody's been able to do it. USC now only needs to win two more games to complete an unprecedented run of success in the modern era. Anything beyond this year is all gravy. Hell, as far as I'm concerned this year is already nothing but gravy...

Was SC dominant tonight? Thier offense again was dominant but overall, no, USC wasn't dominant tonight.

Were they beatable tonight? Yep, but they weren't beaten tonight and that's all that matters at this point.

Were they lucky tonight? Hell no, they weren't lucky. If anything FSU was more often the recipient of the "lucky" plays tonight. USC earned what they got. There was nothing fluky or controversial or lucky about the turnovers they caused on defense or the continuing domination they showed on offense. They outscored their opposition, which is the definition of a win, and while there's obviously a cuntload of sour grapes on your part there was no undue amounts of luck on USC's part...

They eeked out a win. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't dominating, but it was another "character builder" for 'em and it'll only make 'em that much more difficult to beat next time.

Not much in the way of style points here but then style points are no longer necessary at this point in the season.

UCLA, and then Texas. That's it. Eight more quarters of an era and then it's over and you'll just have to live with it: A USC Three Peat and the additional title of Greatest Offense Ever, and maybe also the greatest sustained team in the modern era...

..at which point I'll then return the favor and say...Fuck You.

Van's off pontificating about Fresno, in another thread.

Oh well ... such is dominance in college football.

Damn, it sure rocks that there isn't playoff in college football, right guys?

After all, teams like Fresno State have no reason even being there.

:meds: :meds: :meds:

Btw, mark my words, Leinart will make Charlie Batch look like a good Q-back in the NFL. Dude SUCKS. He's got great talent around him, and has made a few plays in college ... but as to being a good QB in the NFL? Good luck with that dillusion, Van.

Leinart, in the NFL ... reaching down deep with what's within him, from his experience, against Fresno State ... Bwaaaaah.

Fresno State is probably a better team right now than anybody Texas has beaten this year.

And where's all this "luck" you're talking about? SC came up against a good team that was ready to play, and they came out with a close win. Where's the "luck"?

Bitter much?

OK Van, fair enough. I made my previous post just after yours. Damn it.

Nice post you made. RACK it.

Without a playoff system, however, all that typing is all just a fart in the wind, along with any "championship," as far as I'm concerned. No offense .. I'd say the same if it were OU. Hope you know that.

When did you suddenly become so gawdawfully cunty like this??

Leinart proved his mettle against Notre Dame and a few other games. Tonight was Reggie's night, not Leinart's.

You know full well (at least I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt) that Leinart will not only be drafted higher than Young but he'll also have a better NFL career.

Have I ever said he's the next Joe Montana, or that he's dominant? Nope. Nothing of the sort. I've simply said he's a much better QB than Young and he'll be a much better NFL QB than Young.

Anyway, USC again went for over 500 total yards on offense and they again hung a fifty spot on somebody so yeah, their offense was again dominant.

Fuck yes, I'm bitter, especially when people dismiss a playoff system out of hand, or want to limit it to 4 teams, because teams like Fresno "just don't make the cut" or some bullshit.

Actually, just giving Van some shit, for his "dominance" statements. Hey, I'm getting all that I can out of it, given I like Van and USC is a phenomenal team, which is why I wanted them to lose. Or better yet, why I'd like to see a playoff.
Mikey wrote:Fresno State is probably a better team right now than anybody Texas has beaten this year.
A few tOSU fans just might disagree with you there.

Fresno played USC better than any team has so far. This game only strengthened my feelings about a playoff, and had USC lost, you and Van and Jimmy would be agreeing.

Now shut up.

This year, the playoff argument looks to be a fart in the wind. While I'll always be all for a playoff system the NCAA is one win apiece away from OUR worst nightmare: A "See, The System Works!" national championship game pairing of the only two undefeateds in the nation.

I guarangoddamtee you that the winner of that game need not here Word One from anybody that their national title was "mythical" or disputed or anything of the sort. The winner of that game will be the only undefeated team still standing and in any year and under any system such a team hailing from any of the major conferences would be everybody's undisputed national champ.

There will likely never be a more airtight national champion than this year's, if USC and Texas both run the table and make it Pasadena.

No, I don't. And it's a foolish bet. Don't confuse me with myopic Texas Fan, por favor ... although, I still want them to kick USC's ass, on principal alone.

And I never said that you claimed Leinart himself was dominant. I was talking about your references to USC, in general.

You know, your arrogant claims about your team. You do remember that, don't you?

Or am I just being "cuntish?"

Since it's a virtual home game for USC ... I guess.

The only team on Texas' schedule that might be as good as Fresno State.
Both teams have two close losses, to top 10 teams.

Texas was "lucky" to beat them.

Either way. If Texas beats USC then nobody on god's green earth can deny them their wholly undisputed due. Their national title will be airtight in this or any other year.

If USC beats Texas, same deal.

The BCS lucked out. They're getting exactly what their stupid system is so insipidly designed to get: A championship game pairing the only two logical options for a title.

It's a fucking broken clock and this is one of those two times a day...

Assuming that it's USC vs UT, I'm going to go on record right now and say that Texas kicks USC's teeth in. I wasn't so sure until last night when I watched USC's "defense." They're not a good defensive team, which is what made last year's team so dangerous. They're a step better than Texas offensively, but Texas is a much better defensive team. I can't see the game turning into a shootout that would favor USC. USC has given up some numbers to good teams this year and none of those teams are on the level of Texas.

Didn't see any of the game, but watching the highlights on espn this morning, all I could think was that airforce coach sure was right. they can run.

Like many games yesterday USC did not win that game the refs awarded it to them.

I wonder if any of the Freesno receivers are filling police reports for the molestation they received last night.

I didn't watch a lick of football this weekend. Didn't need to, this results of this game didn't surprise me even without watching.

I'm only going to say 3 thing:

1. I'm confident in my teams ability to take care of business against anyone including USC, anywhere including LA.

2. The Texas defense is light years ahead of anything SC has faced.

3. The Texas offense is on par with the SC offense.

Have a nice & safe thanksgiving

Sheesh ... my drunken ass was affixiately affected after the OU-Taco Tech game, combinded with the USC-Fresno game.

USC-ND was arguably the best game of the year, if not the decade. And, yes, ND did play them as tough, if not tougher than Fresno ... perhaps the only reason I didn't make the comparison was that USC was at home, and the atmosphere in ND is a factor.

Btw, Van, Mikey ... I hope you guys know I was just fuckin with you. Post more, read less, especially you, Van. :)

USC is one of the most dominant teams of the modern era, no doubt. ('95 Huskers notwithstanding of course :brad: )

Which is why when they actually become human, and provide a window of opportunity for me in which I can give some of their fans in here a hard time, I'll take it.

RF you better start qualifying your slams of SCfan. I've never been that guy on these boards and certainly didn't let you guys have it after the Orange Bowl last year the way I could have.
