Joey Harrington will be lucky to survive next season. Mike Martz runs an offense that has damn near killed Trent Green, Kurt Warner and Mark Bulger. Amd let's not forget that Bulger wouldn't even have gotten a sniff of the starting job had not Jamie Martin been smashed upside the head after starting for all of one quarter.

Everything Martz does is predicated on the QB making quick reads. Has anything Harrington done in the past 3 years made ANYBODY think he can make reads quick enough to compensate for Martz's minimal protection schemes?

A lot of Owners in the NFL know that . Along with Martz being a nutcase .

That's why Martz was asking for interviews .

They've definitely gotta upgrade the offensive line. Harrington had next to no time to make reads in the Mariucci offense because the line was so porous. Martz is definitely going to need to grab collectively those young receivers by the scruff of the neck and teach them how to be pros and run better routes. These guys just need a swift kick in the ass and a crash course in how to be professional football players. Mariucci was too soft with these guys.

True dat. With Martz they might as well bring in 3 Arena League guys this summer and let them compete for the job.

I wouldn't be shocked if Dan Orlovsky got a look at the starting job. He played in a passing offense at UConn. Harrington is owed a roster bonus soon. They need to make a decision soon on if he stays or he'll be cut. I don't think they can deal him away with the money he has left on his contract.

Lions: Martz gives Harrington a clean slate
02/17/06 10:43 AM
THE NEWS
Lions offensive coordinator met the Detroit media for the first time on Thursday and noted that he will not hold Joey Harrington's past struggles against him. "I'll start with Joey like we start with everybody – like they're at ground zero, like they've never played before," Martz told the Detroit Free Press. "I think whatever problems he's had in the past, all sins are forgiven." Harrington is scheduled to earn a $4.5 million roster bonus if he's on the roster June 15.
Our View (Fanball)
The new coaching staff has given no indication that Harrington won't be around next season. In fact, it appears that Martz enjoys the thought of taking on the challenge of helping Harrington become a better player. Plus, general manager Matt Millen is considered a Harrington supporter, so fantasy owners should assume Joey will stay in Motown.

If Joey and the young receivers can't thrive in a system like Martz, there isn't any hope for this team.

Just read The Lions have expressed interest in Bruce.

(Please refer to pic above)

Are The Lions going to be the first team in the NFL to field 1 QB and 10 WR?

Okay guys, everyone go long....I got 3 alligators, remember.
