Not a difficult schedule, to be sure, but it's just a bit of a stretch to say that there are no potential stumbling blocks there. Just off the top of my head:
Maryland: Rivalry game.
Louisville: Louisville is also ranked in the preseason Top 10, and this is on the road.
Pitt: A rivalry game on the road.
Not saying that West Virginia won't go through the season unbeaten, but it's by no means a certainty that they will, either.

Like Terry says, WVU isn't going to walk through their schedule. I think they're a good team, with some great tactical coaching...but they always have trouble with Maryland, and Pitt will be a bit improved, and the long arm of the Law might visit their starting roster, etc.

Seeing as to how USF plays @ Louisville the week before I don't think they'll have enough going up to Morgantown the following weekend. Our LB's are good enough and fast enough to slow down Slaton and White, but I worry about what our offense is going to be like.Bucmonkey wrote:Hey now, dont sell USF short !
Louisville gets both WVU and USF at home, so they have the inside track to winning the Big East this year.

Gotta say, A&M has the softest OOC schedule.
The Citadel
ULaLa
Army
LaTech
Then...I see no reason we should not be 9-0 going into the OU game (i say this every year). The exception is the taco tech game, but we tend to play well against them at home.

you seen Bamas OOC schedule?
or the entire SEC's for that matter?
SEC teams will play 8 out of 48 OOC games on the road.
Of those 8 games only 4 require the SEC team to leave their state, and those 4 are played by SEC lightweights Ole Miss, Miss St and Vandy (twice)
Bama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, and Georgia play all of their OOC games at home.
Louisiana Monroe is on 3 SEC OOC schedules
Tulane is on 3 SEC OOC schedules
Florida International is only on 2 OOC schedules
all 8 of those games are at the SEC school
Alabama Birmingham, Memphis and Duke all play SEC schools twice and each get a home game, Duke goes to Bama, Memphis plays at Ole Miss and UAB goes to Georgia, in return UAB gets to host Mississippi State, Memphis sort of hosts Tennessee and Duke gets a home game with Vanderbilt.
Other OOC toughies include home games vs Central Florida, Southern Mississippi, Western Carolina, Western Kentucky, Utah State, South East Missouri State, Buffalo, Wofford, Arkansas State, Louisiana Lafayette, Northwestern State, Jacksonville State, Texas State, Central Michigan, Middle Tennessee and Temple
SEC honk will surely say that they need to play Wofford, Western Kentucky, Louisiana Monroe and Florida International because conf games vs Ole Miss, Miss St, Kentucky and Vanderbilt is too tough of a week to week schedule

Nebraska is going to be a tougher game for SC than Louisiana Tech or Nicholls State will be for Nebraska. Where the hell is Nicholls State, I mean at least you know where directional schools come from but Nicholls State?? never even heard of them, is it a beauty college? a trade school??? does Sally Struthers do commercials for them?

The SEC is most definitely in your dome!SoCalTrjn wrote:you seen Bamas OOC schedule?

LSU's road schedule...
Auburn 9-3
Florida 9-3
Tennessee 5-6
Arkansas 4-7
USC's road schedule...
Arkansas 4-7
Arizona 3-8
Washington St. 4-7
Oregon St. 5-6
Stanford 5-6
These stat arguements are stupid but you don't play one game on the road against a team that had a winning season last year? Gimmie a break.
Our four road teams went 27-19 last year. Your five went 21-34. Who's looks tougher?
We're bringing in Arizona and Fresno St to Baton Rouge this year. They have every chance in the world to beat us. I can't wait for the season to start!

I don't recall defending playing either one of those teams for any reason.
Maybe your underlying worry is that Nebraska will have 2 games under their belt vs. SC's 1 and Nebraska will have a returning QB starter and ya'll won't.
My point was you assuming NU would be a tough game when NU's reputation has been beaten like a rented mule for 4 years now. (and rightfully so.) I give you props if you know why you should.
My feel is you don't, based on the above post.
I believe you're using Nebraska's reputation as an excuse as a tough game more than fearing USC has any chance to lose.
I also believe the average So. Cal bandwagonner has no concern the glitz and glitter boys will lose to hayseeds.
I personnally am looking forward to that game.
The hidden secret here is Nebraska will have a bitch of a defense, and they ain't gonna be beat up the 3rd week of the season.
I want to be the first to introduce the world to LB Steve Octavian.
He blew a knee the second series of the first game last year.
My concern is the road trip more than the team on the other end.
UCLA is a road game for the Trojans and the bRuins were 10-2 last season
OK, USC plays 6 road games and those 6 teams combined to win just 31 games last year. LSU plays only 4 road games and those 4 teams combined to win 27 games last year. I know, youre saying that USC had 2 more teams so they should have had more wins. LSU plays 8 games at home, those teams combined to win just 38 games, the 6 teams that USC will play at home won 44.
LSU's schedule is so tough that the 12 teams they play combined to be 7 games under .500, USC's opponents were 12 games over .500 last year.
Where are your stats, how do you make it look like playing just 4 road games makes that school anything more than cowards affraid to leave home?

The SEC is definitely a very tough conference to get through but there is no excuse for cupcaking like that. You gotta at least schedule one tough team and one respectable one, then you can fill-out with the 1AA and sunbelt teams.
aTm's sched looks like it was drawn-up by Franchione himself. If he can't manage at least 8-wins given that OOC-cadre from Dolly Madison his bags should be packed.
You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
Texas and Oklahoma play a neutral site game where each school is given half the tickets and split the money down the middle. What is wrong is that both schools act like its a home game and then say that the reason they cant play more than 1 OOC game a year on the road is because they need 6 or 7 home games in order to survive. Play that series as home and homes schedule 2 road and 2 home OOC games a year and then you wont have to defend your schedule anymoreBelieve the Heupel wrote:Yet you bitch about Oklahoma and Texas considering their game a non-home game.
thats fine, make the Texas-OU game a home and home series, that way neither of these schools AD's would lose the massive amount of revenue that the game would generate.
What I dont buy is that both Texas and OU fans point to that as an away game every year as if both teams arent making massive amounts of money from that game, same with Florida and Georgia. They use that game as an excuse to playing 3 out of 4 OOC games at home vs toughies like Middle Tennessee State, Alabama Birmingham, Sam Houston State and North Texas.
Nearly every team in the nation will make more money playing at home than they will on the road, maybe everybody should just play 12 home games vs schools like Sam Houston State that way they can all claim that they dont want to lose money.

Wow SC's road schedule is tough. I would compare going to Stanford, Oregon, Cal, Arizona etc....with such places as Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Florida etc......UCLA....come on, they're lucky to get 50K for a game there. Kind of like $C 4 years ago. That place was a morgue. For all the complaining you do about the SEC you now prop them as a tough conference and Arkansas being a tough game. Give it a rest. ND....yep, you've been playing that one for 60 years. the Crap-10 has no tough road games. Please don't give me that Autzen is a tough place to play. So it's small and kind of loud. There's a difference betweek 40K tree huggers and 105,000 screaming red necks down south. There is no such thing as a tough road game in the Pac-10.
Props to OU for hosting Washington and going to Oregon. What year will Oklahoma play in Seattle, it is a home and home right?Believe the Heupel wrote:Convenient that you left out the games against Washington and Oregon this year.
USC did go SEC and scheduled a game vs Idaho or something at the Coli in a year or two, they said it was to help boost a team that a former Trojan coach was coaching, except that coach is now back on USC's staff so hopefully the game will be cancelled and replaced with a home and home series vs a BCS conf team
