Longshore played half a game, and Cal only put up 1 TD, holding a 7 point lead over a division 1-AA team during that half. Aboob came in and never improved for the whole season, ultimately getting yanked, for a converted fullback, in the final game.
With Longshore and Aboob battling it out in Fall camp, Cal could be the motivation behind Season Over Troll's first appeareance this year.
Aboob couldn't hit an open reciever, with the crowd in Eugene, in our first game after our starting QB went down. 5-6, or not, I wouldn't be too confident that either of these guys are going to respond well to Tenessee on Opening Day.

Kal is the classic come-from-nowhere story. Saint Tedford comes along and turns a shitty program into one that becomes temporarily relevant. I have a lot of respect for the guy, he’s done a great job given what a complete fucking joke Kal has been in the past.
The media has followed this Cinderella-type story very closely for two reasons. First, college football is about pageantry and stories – this clearly qualifies and belongs on their story board. In my opinion, the NFL is about wins and losses. College football is about passion and tradition.
Second, and more importantly, it’s clear that Tedford will be leaving that shithole in the near future to take a job in the NFL – something many people think he’s qualified to do. I certainly do. In this regard, the media is smart to do some forward planning on the move. At some point, they’ll have pimped the guy to the level that the I-told-you-so card can be dropped immediately once he takes a dump on the Republik.
Kal will drop at least three games this year.

I like Tedford. I hope he spends a handful of years in the NFL and takes the Oregon job when Bellotti retires.
But, I'm just not seeing it with Cal this year. The level of hype is just completely unwaranted for what they looked like last year and who they have returning at QB. Tedford was sour enough on Aboob to play a converted Fullback over him, after almost a full season of him starting. And now, in fall camp, he's not sold on Longshore enough to outright give him the starting job over Aboob.
Cal was fortunate to be 8-4 last year. They didn't beat one single team that was above .500. They have a much tougher schedule this year.
They might be a team to watch, and I'm not saying that they won't improve. But to be ranked in, or near the Top-10, before the season has started, is ludicrous.

As I think about it, there's another I-told-you-so setup going on here. Admittedly, the media has ridden SC's jock for the past few years. The party came crashing down after our loss to Texas this past January.
Many think this is the year we stumble given the changes in personnel. It's hard to argue with this line of thinking...the pre-season ranking awarded to us is very suspect.
If Kal wins the conference...
...the media will immediately self-fellatiate (sup Indy) and claim they knew it all along.

Well this region of So Cal does produce a lot of pretty good football players. Longshore is an amazing QB. People are going on potential. What the hell as Booty ever done? What has Chauncey Washington ever done? Booty's amazing according to condom fans and Chauncey Washington is the second coming of Jim Brown.I was told yesterday that Longshore was an amazing QB and that region of So Cal produces far greater players than this shitty little place I live in called Orange County
This region has had hundreds of kids go on to the D-1 level along with several that have gone on to play in the NFL.
OC is a fine place for football players who have gone on to the D-1 level and beyond. I'd stack the area from I-10 North against anywhere as far as #'s of kids playing at the next level and into the NFL.

Tedford isn't going anywhere. His wife loves it in the Bay Area and doesn't want to leave. How could you blame her, when the Bay Area is one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Tedford has been offered many head coaching jobs in the NFL and want's nothing to do with it. Actually, he signed an extension a year and a half ago...
Tedford
Back to the topic at hand...
The Sept. 2nd game at Neyland will tell me a lot about where we are and will be as a team. Tennessee was ranked #3 in the country last year to start the season, but due to poor qb play they ended up with a disappointing season. Something that Cal can relate to. If Ainge comes back and plays the way he did his freshman season... it could end up being a disappointing day for Cal.
I maybe wrong... but if I recall correctly, Tennessee hasn't lost a home opener in the last 20 years, which is a rather scary scenerio.
It should make for one of the best opening games to start the season.
Now with that being said... here's a funny.
OREGON marketing at its finest
...relentlessly lethal? Yes, it is acceleratingly innovative {attention K-Mart shoppers, coming to a Eugene store near you soon...} but the only thing unstoppable about it is the momentum toward making their lockers look like sorority girl closets.

What region of So. Cal are you specifically referring to. If you live in OC, I'll take everything North and you take everything south.
Both geographic areas have produced a ton of fantastic football players and neither one is going to stop anytime soon. Throughout my broadcast schedule I'll probably see 50+ kids who will play at the next level. 15 or so at the D-1 level so we're pretty good up here, up North, out Ventura Oxnard way and down into the SFV.

For a third rate team like Kal they sure do get a lot of run on this board.
We need to invite some fans from better teams.
Can someone find a taco tech fan or a florida fan :D
I personally would like to find a Cane fan but I don't think they allow inmates on the internet.

Jimmy,
m2ool has made a lot of progress recently. After 40 years of retardedness, he seems to have caught on with the complicated issue of when to use your and you're. I might have to upgrade his skills from a second grader to a third grader. At this pace, he'll be on the level of an actual Cal student when he reaches 372 years of age.

Update
Oh well, off to Kansas.
Fuck.Tedford made that announcement after Thursday's first scrimmage of fall camp, a day that ended with a hollow sound when starting cornerback Tim Mixon may have seriously injured a knee while returning a punt.
"Timmy did not get hit," Tedford said. "He just planted, andhis knee gave out. He's getting an MRI, but at first glance if a knee gives out like that, it doesn't look good. We have our fingers crossed."
Mixon, a senior who was named by Street & Smith as a second-team preseason All-America, was having an excellent camp. He becomes the first Cal starter with a serious injury in the nearly two-week-old camp.
Oh well, off to Kansas.

^^^^^^^^
you keep pimping preseason 2nd Team All Americans and we'll just concentrate on 1st Team All Americans.
Sin,
The Rest of This Board
dude that must mean your depth is suspect. I mean tOSU lost Carpenter last year (many would argue he was just as important as Hawk) the first play of the Michigan game and Laurenitis stepped in and played awesome and then started the Fiesta bowl...your depth really must suck...well cal sucks so I would expect nothing less...
you going to sell windchimes to dorothy and toto???
So does this also mean you losing that player is worth another two losses so that means you will lose 6 games and still win a national championship???
