Best unranked team could easily be

Post by The Seer »

UCLA.

QB Ben Olson 1st start:

25-33, 318yds, 3 TD's, 0 int.

Defense held an Urban Meyer designed offense scoreless in 2nd half.

Hate to break it to you, but New Mexico accomplished the same feat last season (Yeah, New Mexico, who lost to Portland State tonight)

Utah, sans Urban Meyer, is not anything close to Utah w/ Urban Meyer

Utah did beat Georgia Tech(the team ND) barely beat tonight... in a bowl game last year by 4 TD's.

Some folks with considerable knowledge, including Phil Steele, thought Utah had the potential to run-the-board. UCLA handled their ass, Bruins deserve props. IMO UCLAhas turned a corner. They aren't a national power but are a legit top25 program.

It wouldn't surprise me if Utah pulls the shirt off of Brian Johnson if this play keeps up.

I will give the Bruins their porps. I watched the game and they did look good. Their defense actually came to play something they didn't do last year.

With UCLA the Eternal Question remains: Can they stand up to a team with a physical running game?

There's UCLA be-all-end-all. They'll always be able to move the ball and score points. They always have great speed at the skill positions and in the defensive backfield.

Will they ever have enough ass to smack a strong, fast and physical offense in the mouth and tell them no, not here, not now, we own these five yards of turf right here and you ain't going anywhere...

This new D-coordinator DeWayne Walker came in with a nice resume. Seems to have changed the attitude on that side of the ball. Helps immensely to get back 3 injured starters on the D-line. I realize it's only 1 friggin game, but they far exceeded my expectations, and Dorrell, who I'm not thrilled with, seems to have good Assts that are running the show......

We'll see how it plays out when you play ND and USC.

You've had great QBs, receivers, RBs and DBs before but when the opponent's RBs are more physical than your LBs it ends up being a running of the bulls every time your offense has to turn the ball over to your defense...

Did you see how they scored that last touchdown against Tenn.? There was less than a minute to go in the game, and the outcome was decided by halftime, and Tenn had their 4th string players in the game, but WOW that was a great touchdown.

So, you're a USC fan this year?

A major part of being a head-coach is finding quality staff and facilitiating them doing their jobs. Solich would likely still be at Nebraska if he'd started bringing in staff he(rather than Osborne) wanted and not micro-managing so much before we'd gone down hill rather than after. Maybe after some up's and down's Dorrell has finally put together a staff that can get it done on both sides of the ball.

They should call him Orrell, because there's no D at ucLabia.

I actually think ucLabia will be a better team than a year ago - their record in 2005 was NOT indicitive of the kind of team they had.

Socal, keep your Troygoo laden chin up. It's still very early and with all the inexperienced players USC is fielding this year they very easily could turn in a stinker or three before season's end.

One of these years you're going to break the streak. I'm pretty sure...

Maybe instead of Orrell we should just call him Oral. He seems to be giving it to us pretty good these days.

Beat him again he's a shoe in at Oral Roberts.

Then again, if UCLA breaks the streak, Petey will be busy for a while.

Hmmm, lessee here...

USC's 2006 schedule

-at Arkansas
-Nebraska
-at Arizona
-at Washington State
-Washington
-Arizona State
-at Oregon State
-at Stanford
-Oregon
-Kalifornia
-Notre Dame
-at UCLA

Nope. The Kal game is at the Coliseum. Meaning, Kal has to play on the road. Meaning, that's a guaranteed victory for us because Kal instantly curls up and queefs as soon as the bus leaves Berkeley.

Also, hey, look! Six home games and...six road games! Just as it's supposed to be! None of this eight homes games and only four roadies nonsense...

Yeah, but I didn't know Socal back then. This new streak has taken place entirely on his watch.

Coincidence? I think not.
