An unfair home field advantage if the Cal sideline is situated across from them, whereas the Cal coaches' box can't see the Tennessee sideline signals from their angle to due it facing away from them. Pretty troubling shit. Does this kind of thing happen all the time? If so, maybe Cal needs to encript its signals better.

Anyway, this may explain why Cal was caught with its pants down on those throws to SQT's side, where there was nobody around to aid the young man (i.e. Ainge may have known before he broke huddle that there would be isolation for Meachem with SQT on those plays). This is nothing new for Cal to bitch about either.

The first time we played Cal, with Tedford as the coach, he had not changed his signals from what he used as the Oregon OC. When we beat Cal they bitched that we were stealing their signs and knew what plays they were running.

The only way I can see any problem with it is if you tapped-in to the opposition headsets or through cloak-and-dagger means stole information on how to read that team's signals from that team.
