Do you find this behavior troubling?

Post by M2 »

In an article from ESPN.com:

"Tennessee receivers coach Trooper Taylor said the Bears also made the Volunteers' jobs easier. Taylor said the Volunteers were able to pick up California's defensive signals from the coaches' box and relay the signals to the sideline. So sometimes, Ainge knew what defense he was going to face before he even stepped to the line of scrimmage."

Article:

Wow, that really bites if they were doing that. An unfair home field advantage if the Cal sideline is situated across from them, whereas the Cal coaches' box can't see the Tennessee sideline signals from their angle to due it facing away from them. Pretty troubling shit. Does this kind of thing happen all the time? If so, maybe Cal needs to encript its signals better.

Anyway, this may explain why Cal was caught with its pants down on those throws to SQT's side, where there was nobody around to aid the young man (i.e. Ainge may have known before he broke huddle that there would be isolation for Meachem with SQT on those plays). Bastards, resorting to poker tricks (like the Lannigan character on the train in The Sting).

Sounds to me like Kal needs to join the 21st century and get some headsets.

Or maybe do what baseball does and have two people doing the signaling.

Don't blame the opponent for your short comings.

No, not "troubling shit" at all. You see, that's why they call it home field advantage. Aww screw it.

Sucks for Kal.

This is nothing new for Cal to bitch about either.

The first time we played Cal, with Tedford as the coach, he had not changed his signals from what he used as the Oregon OC. When we beat Cal they bitched that we were stealing their signs and knew what plays they were running.

Don't blame us for being stupid enough to show up at your former school without having changed your play signals.

Obviously Tedford is doing something wrong when it comes to sending in signals, because I've never heard any other team bitch about signal stealing, let alone bitch about it multiple times.

Trying to figure opposition signals is hardly new or illegal tool. The only way I can see any problem with it is if you tapped-in to the opposition headsets or through cloak-and-dagger means stole information on how to read that team's signals from that team. Geez this is a weak excuse, Cal wasn't careful and Tenn took advantage of that, end of story.

Oh Christ, you'll come up with any excuse won't you. One of the most difficult things to do is steal hand signals from an opposing football team. There are so many things tht can be done that mean nothing that it's impossible to figure out. Quit your bitching. You got your ass kicked.

It seems you have a difficult time with reading and comprehension, or you just enjoy playing follow the leader with some of the other posters that didn't even read my post... yet had some shit to say that made no sense.

Let me help you out here...and take this to someone with comprehension superpowers . Mmmkay.

The quote came from one of the "Tennessee" coaches and not from me.

Here it is...

In an article from ESPN.com:

"Tennessee receivers coach Trooper Taylor said the Bears also made the Volunteers' jobs easier. Taylor said the Volunteers were able to pick up California's defensive signals from the coaches' box and relay the signals to the sideline. The only one bitching is you, but with your comprehension skills, you'll never figure that out.

Ok numb nuts, if you've ever been on a head set (and I'm sure you haven't) the coaches in the booth suggest things, or make calls to the coaches down on the field, then the calls are signaled in. For example I may say something like 722 bullets cover 0. What the hell does that mean?
What about this? 606 double lightning cover 1. Do you have any idea? What about 723 cover 7? My cover 7 may be different than yours, or you may call cover 0 something other than what I call it. Unless you know the terminology of the other team it's very difficult to figure it out.
Here try this: Ace Right firm, 272 delay corner close.
I right Toff, tim 727 swing, close.

I'll give you as much time as you need to figure each of those out Einstein. When you do, please get back to me. I should be around 80 by then.

Shit for brains... I was offered a scholarship to UCLA as a tailback. I was walked around the campus by " JoJo Townsell " who later played for the Jets.

I had over a hundred letters from schools around the country by the end of my soph. year. Take your shit "calling"/plays to someone who gives a shit.

You fucked up, and now you want to go to formation calls?

Well for starters, I tend to skip right over your posts so I have never read this before. Maybe you have said it before, maybe you haven't. However, now that I am privy to this information, I would like to recant any previous discredit I have directed toward you. You, apparently, are THE expert on everything college football. In fact, you could probably rule the NFL forum like you do for us CFB guys. I didn't know you had such a storied background and I would like to sign up as your apprentice or page. Whatever you need, I am here to support you if you would only bestow some of your vast knowledge on me.

For starters, could you explain what these mean:
722 bullets cover 0
606 double lightning cover 1
723 cover 7
Ace Right firm, 272 delay corner close
I right Toff, tim 727 swing, close

Thanks in advance for your pity and generosity.

No, if it means anything.

Every team has it's own terminology... but you already knew that. :meds:

P.S. I played on offense and those would "maybe" be D calls.

Doesn't that kind of refute your entire argument in this thread? Or was Tenn employing windtalkers to decipher the code?

Oh, so you aren't privy to what the defense is doing. Funny, it sounds like you only look at one side of the issue.

Dear m2,

As I'm sure you'll agree, I have put forth a strong effort not to pile on when you are getting hammered by those in here. I also have nothing against anyone that wishes to hang out where women don't shave their legs or wear deordorant whilst you try to peddle your chimes. I admire you unflinching loyalty to Kal, and truly hope they win a MNC with their 4 losses sometime.

But with all due respect, why have you chosen my team/school of choice to tarnish and sully? A hundred some odd D-1 schools and you had to pick those 4 letters (UCLA) in your hallucination!

However, as a Pac 10 poster, I will aid in your eternal quest for legitimacy. PM me with at least your real last name and I will verify your scholie offer. If true, I will stand behind Sky as one of your interns.

Looking forward to your reply,

The Seer

So, m2, you were "offered" a scholarship to play running back at UCLA, and had "hundreds" of letters from other schools.

What, exactly, haulted your advancement of this?

Career ending injury?

I seperated my shoulder in the second game of the season(as a jr.)... and didn't play 'til the North Coast' sectionals.

As a senior, I went through the motions, and took my visits. I really had no intent to play college ball after that.

It was cool to hangout with ballers, but I had other interests.
