Post by JayDuck »

I'm just curious about the difference between our posters and message board general public.

What if Oklahoma made the field goal?

Just a simply question.

Its easy to blame one turning point.

When Jonathon Stewart fumbled the ball, I was on the phone with my brother and we both thought we'd lost the game on that one call. He knee was down before that ball came out, but there was just no "conclusive" video angle to overturn the call.

I started drinking more heavily at that point. But that wasn't the end of the game for us, just a crucial play/call.

I don't understand why many of you feel the need to act like it was inevitable that you would lose the game after the onsides kick call.

I thought Stoops and OU was all about defense. Are you telling me that with 1 minute and 9 seconds you cant possibley be expected to defend 50ish yards of field and keep a team out of the endzone?

Is Oregon's offense so good that it's just a given that we score on you in a minute from the 50?

And even after all of that, did you not have your chance to win the game? Can't your line give enough push to give your kicker enough time to get a field goal off when he needs it?

I have a lot of respect for Oklahoma. The Duck program needed this win more than you guys did, after the past 2 seasons. And that's why our players fought, with all they had, until the final second. If we want to be taken seriously, we have to be able to play with, and beat, the top programs in the country on our home turf. And Oklahoma is one of those programs.

But, you play the cards you are delt. And we've all had calls go against us. And the moment you blame the refs for your struggles, is the moment you have given up in the game.

I don't think Stoops will blame the refs. He knows where mistakes were made and what you can improve on. If that field goal isn't blocked, you guys go back to Norman rising high. That's college football. It can be a game of inches. If our first half field goal bounces short instead of going though you go home champs too. It just wasn't meant to be tonight.

I can, honestly, say that I hope the Sooners win the rest of their regular season games this year and I have nothing but love for their program. At Oregon, we aspire to be where you guys are.

And perhaps, being a fan of Oregon, we understand losing more so than you are used to. But you guys did not lose the game on any one play or any one call.

Blah, blah, blah...

It doesn't really matter... we're going to kick your ass when you get to Baghdad by the Bay.

Same as it always is...

We had to pull Marshawn after the 1st quarter, because he had 113 yards on 6 carries and a TD. Hell, we pulled the whole 1st team after the 1st quarter.

The team we beat tonight/Portland St., beat New Mexico by the same amount as Missouri did tonight.

The big 12 is weak, your 1st real test, comes when you get to Bear Territory.

We'll be waiting!

Roll on you Bears!

Hmm. Interesting response.

Perhaps I should have made it clear that I meant "Sooner Fans" how would this post have gone over.

Obviously there's a lot of bitterness, at the moment, from soonerfan, but I didn't feel that the above post was very inflamatorfy. In fact, I made an effort to be overly nice and, overly, respectfull of their program. Yet the post was responded to as if I was Osama Bin Ladin pissing on the ashes of the world trade center.

Yes, we DID lose the game on the one call. It was the call where your player touched the ball after it had traveled 9.5 yards, not 10, and then nobody in a hideous green jersey came up with the ball, yet it was still awarded to them. (Allen Patrick had the ball and was down...)

Should it have gotten to that point? No. It was a great f'ing game, but OU played well enough; scored enough points -- to win the game and, because of circumstances outside of the two teams competing in the game, they did NOT win. Froz started a thread about it, but it's true... it's an f'ing shame that we're talking about the officiating and not a hard-fought, brilliantly-played game between two very good programs...

But, considering the screwjob OU got at Tech last year, and now THIS shit...? Believe me, no matter how much you feel that, "a game doesn't turn on one play," it's happened to us two years in a row now. Last year we lost four games. BFD. This year, that one play might have changed the direction of our entire season...

So yeah, we're not gonna be really pleased. I'm all for OU getting their ass kicked on the field. If it happens there, that's fine. It happens. But losing like this... this often... It's just fucked up.

Not really, I just said we're going to kick your ass like we always do when you come to the Bay Area.

Let me know if you'd like the "light" plunger. It's been a popular model in the big 12 this year.

Of all the guys to talk shit about the Big 12, you are one not to open your pie hole. The last time this happened your golden boy Erin Rogers got an enema from Texas Tech on national TV. Texas Tech.

Yeah, the Big 12 had a bad day. But a bad day in the Big 12 is still better than selling wind chimes dressed up as a fairy.

I don't know... I think Notre Dame and Penn State have it.

Let me know... the last time Ohio State, or any other major college team had the balls to start a season in Neyland???

Let alone travel east 3,000 miles.

Of course, we were the only team in the country... to go into Neyland to start the season.

You'll never see Ohio State, USK, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma, etc., have the balls to do that, let alone...

... with a qb that only had half a game experience in Div. 1 football.

Oh yeah, we lost a 1st team All -American cb, and replaced him with a freshman, who thought he could pick the ball off 3 times and it went for 21 points in less than 1:08 seconds.

We'll be fine. Once we get our young team, more than 3 games experience.

Yeah, if we went 3000 miles east we would be playing on the deck of the Titanic. Your stupidity knows no ends. Tennessee is shit this year. They will lose 3 games. Texas and Ohio State sacked up and played a home and home this year. I would love to see the teddy bears come to Austin to start the season. If you think the beating in Tennessee was bad.... shit.

The only type of teams that start the season on the road agaist a tough opponet are MAC schools and schools desperatly trying to make a name for them selves. Ohio State already has made a name for them selves. We dont have to prove any thing. We have 7 National Titles and a 4-0 record in the BCS. We dont have to start our season on the road, because we arnt a 2 class team like Cal. And you want to talk about a young team.. OSU has 3 returning starters on defence. Lets talk about young.. Excuses are like assholes...

Nice game against Cincy...

And I'll take it as you don't have the balls to go into Neyland to start a season, let alone with a guy with only 1 quarter of Div. 1 football under his belt at qb.

By the way, do you need to graduate from high school... to get into Ohio state??? Or just be a thug.

Hi guys! I'm blogging here from Jordan-Hare, where I just started my first ever college football game! It was our season opener, against Auburn of all teams! Guess what? Auburn was ranked MUCH higher than Tennessee was when #8 Cal went in and got buttshattered by 'em.

Jordan-Hare's considered to be pretty much just as tough a roadie as Neyland, innit? I think it is!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Unlike Cal, we actually went in and kicked ass and won easily.

Pretty good for my first game, huh?

Love and kisses for m2...

Yet only Cal has gone to start a season at Neyland.

Open your mouth when you fuckers have the balls to do it.

You pussies, back out of games against Hawaii??? and Utah??? when you find out they've won more games than they've lost.

Mack Brown and Texas will never play a team with a winning record in OOC games, ever again... and you know it.

This is the "new and improved" happy go lucky Gary Pinkel...he's got something in Chase Daniel and a competent defense to back up his bluster with now.

Mizzou fan is, quite simply, ecstatic.

m2, please, just once grow at least one testicle...

Neyland Stadium and this year's Tennessee team? They were ranked, what, 19th, when you played them? You were ranked 8th. This is the same Tennessee squad that lucked out and barely managed to avoid losing at Neyland the following week...to Air Force.

Now, marking your words and all, Tennessee went ahead and ran away with the SEC by following up that epic effort at home against Air Force with a loss at Neyland to a conference foe who hadn't won a significant roadie in years.

Meanwhile, Auburn was ranked anywhere from 1st to 6th when USC opened their season at Jordan-Hare with a first time QB at the helm. You aren't going to tell me that beating a much higher ranked Auburn on the road isn't at least the equal of beating 19th ranked Tennessee at Neyland.

Btw, for your next Kreskin like performance are you going to offer us up Colorado as the mortal lock winner of the Big 12?

Uh...Baghdad by the Bay is San Francisco.

Berserkley is closer to Oakland. You know...there's no there there?
Get your fucking geography straight.

Sorry dickhead. Spellcheck doesn't know the difference between Cain and Caen.

Obviously neither do you.

Nor the difference between Baghdad by the Bay and Oakland.

m2, check my sig to see who knows football and, more importantly, who doesn't...

Moreover, check Florida's recent road record against ranked teams, even under Urban Meyer.

Tonight's win was a turning point road win for a Florida team hoping to recapture some of their old Spurrier era glory. The fact that it came against a no big deal Tennessee team who made their name this early in the season by beating your nutless Cubbies and then following it up by nearly losing at home to Air Force will need to be overlooked by hopeful Forida Fan...

Hey wal-mart guy... you did notice that he left out 2002???

That's when Tedford came to Cal.
We didn't play you guys in 2002.

Oregon has beaten Cal 9 out of the last 10 times we've played. That includes 2 of 3 times that we've played with Tedford as coach (our schools have only played 3 times since Tedford took over). And the only win that Cal had was a one point victory (28-27) when Cal finished the year 10-2 and Oregon finished 5-6.

Bullshit. Cal was only nine plays away from winning all ten games vs Oregon in that span.

Cal is in the Bay Area. We have bitchin' trees nearby.

Dumbass.

I'm fairly certain that there is exactly 1 team that ventures into Knoxville each year to begin a season. Tennessee being a perrinial powerhouse usually opts for a cupcake as a tuneup for a grueling SEC grind.

Cal is among the priveledged few to make the trip to Neyland. Others that have made the trek are...

UAB
Fresno St.
Wyoming
UNLV

I guess Phil prefers patsies from the west. But "nobody" has the balls to come east and lose by quite as much as Cal.

Get a clue douchebag...Cal sucks. They got poleaxed by Tennessee. They didn't belong on the same field. Blowing them after they killed you makes you all the more pathetic.
