Bring on OU! I wish I could go to Dallas for the game, but I am a StrandedTexan and stuck in Cali.

As far as sig bets, I have no sig other than my winery hyperlink...so bring those on too!

Won't make the game for the same reasons I didn't get the PPV for the Sam Houston game. Can't seem to waste my money to watch Texas blowout a bunch of lesser talent scrubs. Game will be over by half time.

Just a Wolverine dropping in to say...

This is one of my favorite games every year. Not for the game, it would seem that they've seldom been close of late. I love this game because it pits the teams with the two largest groups of fans on this board against each other. Quality smack gets tossed to and fro. The pre-game banter is spot on. The resulting sigs and or avs are usually well done.

Good luck to all.

carry on now.

My sig bet record this year has been worse than Corso making predictions. I may have to pass in order to help give OU a decent chance of winning.

Don't worry. There is no way Texas loses this game. Texas has faced tremendous backs all year and has stuffed all of them. If North Texas, Rice, and SHSU can't run then the Sooners are screwed. By the end of the game they will be wishing for a return of Kejuan Jones cause AD is going to post his first negative rushing stats of the season.

UT climbs back into the national title discussion, along the way becoming a huge fan of the underdogs in the Big 10...

Texas' D contains Peterson while forcing Thompson into a couple of key turnovers.

OU's D is simply unable to stop the Texas rushing game, which in turn creates wide open receivers and all sorts of time for McCoy to look good while operating under zero duress.

I have a serious feeling that Thompson will find the perfect time to have his best day as a Sooner. Texas has posted some good rushing D stats but that was against way lesser competition and OSU did not seem to relly need the run to exploit Texas. I fully expect Texas to sell out to stop AD and most likely will pay for it a few times at least. I'm most worried about the Texas offense. OU has had some backs gash them, but we all know Texas' game plan. Average 5-6 yards a carry and abandon it in favor of 2 yard hitch routes. You know the same routes that have never worked in this game. If OU learns to tackle then I feel there may be a INT returned the other way. Both teams have issues, but they seem to be pretty equal. We all know what happens when OU brings equal or better talent. I'm just hoping the Texas D hold up and Colt can find some thing similar to a verticle passing game. In all seriousness Texas will win 21-19 with OU failing a 2pt conversion to tie late in the 4th. And I'm willing to make a sig bet.

Here is my take on the game

Texas passing offense v Sooner pass defense.

Texas has 3 great receivers any of which can take it to the house when called upon, the Sooners have one guy that I would consider a shut down corner that McCoy should not challenge and that is Smith. Other than him I think Texas can beat the rest of the defense. Where I think Texas has a real advantage is TE Jermichael Finley who is just now starting to come into his own.

Up front Texas has faced much better DTs but probably won't face a better bunch of DE. I think Texas has a clear advantage on the oline but I fully expect Stoops to bring the heat which should mean single coverage on some people. The only question is can McCoy exploit it. So far he has done a good job of playing it safe, but this is a game where safe might not be good enough.

I love our offense in 2nd and 6 or less, but get in long yardage situations and it isn’t that great against this D. I don't expect the Sooner D to miss tackles in this game so it is important to protect the football. This will likely limit the YAC yards but its better than a turnover.

Texas Run offense v Sooner run defense.

The Texas Oline has a clear advantage in the run department especially up the middle where Oklahoma is soft as Charmin. The key is to develop better consistency and avoid penalties. Charles is faster than anyone OU has faced and that is a decided advantage Texas can exploit. I don't see Texas having great success outside the tackles because of the speed of the OU defense but if Texas can plug away between the tackles eventually Charles or Young will break one.

Ou run offense v Texas run defense

Ou has the most talented running back in college football since Ricky Williams. It is going to be a huge task to stop the Ou running game. Texas has an advantage on the dline, which will help to blow plays up. The key is to get lots of people to the ball carrier before he builds up a head of steam. Ou has not faced a single dline that is considered close in talent to the Texas dline (outside of practice). The Texas dline has faced a damn good oline in Ohio St and did a great job holding the buckeye rushers below 100 yards. I expect Peterson to get his 100+ but it will take him better than 25 carries to do so.

Ou passing offense v Texas pass defense
If Ou is going to have a chance in this game it will be riding the arm of Thompson. Truth be told Texas has been lit up this year by lesser Qbs and that does not bode well. Ou has a truly gifted receiver in Kelly and a dangerous threat in Peterson out of the backfield. The key is that again Ou has not seen a front 4 as good as Texas and their ability to put pressure on Thompson will tell the story in this game. The good news for Texas is the Dbs and linebackers are healthier now then they have been all year.

Special teams
Both teams have dangerous return men, by the numbers Ross seems to be the most dangerous but that means nothing in this game. Neither have had trouble in the turnover department which means the one that does turn it over will probably cost their team a victory. Texas has a huge advantage in the kick and punt blocking dept where they have blocked several. I don't know if Ou has had trouble with kicks being blocked but even if not its still an advantage Texas can exploit. Texas has the better punting team while Ou has a better field goal kicker. I think the key here is for Texas to win in this department they will have to make something happen, a blocked kick or huge return. for Ou to win they need to make special teams a non-factor in the game.

Coaching - people can talk about stoops and Brown but this game is going to be won or lost by the Coordinators and that is where Texas has a huge advantage. Chizik has stopped better offenses than Ou has this year and Davis has done a great job of building the offense around the talent he has. I think Stoops is going to have to pull a rabbit out of his hat to overcome the talent difference on the LOS.

I predict that this game will be won in the trenches with Texas dominating both sides. Peterson will get his, but by the 4th quarter Texas will ware down the Ou dline and be running at will on them. I also think Texas will break the game open with a huge play from special teams.

Vito, nice breakdown but you can throw out all those individual category national rankings.

Texas has played one game this year, against OSU. That's it. The stats they've compiled this year while playing five home games (Rice might as well be a home game) against three cupcakes plus ISU mean next to nothing.

How'd they do against OSU? Yeah, OSU is better than OU but those numbers are a lot more telling than the Texas rushing attack numbers against N. Texas, Rice and Yosemite Sam State...

Lets look at who each team has played. Since only the computer polls rank every team here are the rankings for each team's opponents.

blOwU opponents Saragin ranking as of 10/4

UAB - 88
UW - 29
UO - 6
MTSU - 103

Texas opponents Saragin ranking as of 10/4

UNT - 128
OSU - 2
Rice - 75
ISU - 57
SHSU - 142

Sans SHSU and it looks to me like Texas and ou schedule are about the same. So I feel pretty confident that the national rankings are as accurate as can be for week 5 of the season.

Yeah, I came correct a while back. Stopped posting under phoneboy back when it was still Scobode. Registered here under a different name and tried to troll, since I never had one of my own, and I always wanted to . It started out as a stalking attempt on ouskull, but I couldn't keep the nonsense up. So I came back this season to read all this great stuff here. And try to put my own spin every now and then. Anyway the secrets out, but OU still sucks.
