In that situation I'm pretty sure you aren't allowed to release early.

Sorry for the delay in responding. I have been in Europe for a while.

There is no restriction on any player of the kicking team holding behind the LOS until a scrimmage kick happens. If there are no rushers to block a player is free to travel down field whenever he feels like it.

Now Federation rules for HS games in states other than Texas or MA may be different.

I couldnt' remember if the line had to wait until the ball was kicked to release in college.
