She is just so in your dome. Rack Babs for getting off a STFU blast.

NEW YORK (AP) -- It was an evening that elicited tears, standing ovations, raucous laughter and shouts of joy from the audience -- and that was just in the first few minutes.

Yes, Barbra Streisand's return to touring after a 12-year absence was the extravaganza that it promised to be. Monday night's show at Madison Square Garden was the third stop of a 20-city jaunt across the nation -- a virtual lovefest between the ultimate diva and an adoring, sold-out, celebrity-dotted crowd.

Streisand effortlessly crooned through a select repertoire of the hits she's amassed during her four-decade-plus career. But the night's most riveting moment came during what was perhaps the only unscripted -- and truly uncomfortable -- episode in the three-hour show.

There was Streisand, enduring a smattering of very loud jeers as she and "George Bush" -- a celebrity impersonator -- muddled through a skit that portrayed the president as a bumbling idiot.

Though most of the crowd offered polite applause during the slightly humorous routine, it got a bit too long, especially for a few in the audience who just wanted to hear Streisand sing like she had been doing for the past hour.

"Come on, be polite!" the well-known liberal implored during the sketch as she and "Bush" exchanged zingers. But one heckler wouldn't let up. And finally, Streisand let him have it.

"Shut the (expletive) up!" Streisand bellowed, drawing wild applause. "Shut up if you can't take a joke!"

With that one F-word, the jeers ended. And the message was delivered -- no one gets away with trying to upstage Barbra Streisand, especially not in her hometown.

Thing is she wasnt joking. For some ungodly reason he paid money to hear sing, not to hear her biased political views.

Sorry Goobs, but you're wrong on this one. No one signs up to see a pro or anti-Bush skit, especially one that will never fucking end, when they go to a concert like this. Babs had a captive audience and abused the privilege.

Yeah. Takes so much creative intelligence to summon an f-bomb; especially to an audience member that shelled out hundreds to listen to her sing; and with the comfort of thousands of adoring fans cheering her on.....

Yeah. rackable - :meds:

Your stupidity is the result of much practice....can't all just be natural ability.....

Give me a fucking break Mike. Everybody knew going into that concert exactly what Barbra Streisand's political views are. They also knew going in that she's not exactly shy about expressing said views. Like she said, STFU if you can't take a joke.

It's not about being able to take a joke, it's about knowing the right timing for something like that. And guess what, that wasn't the right time.

You're right. Everyone knows her political views, which is why if she wants to go Lorne Michaels and do an anti-Bush skit, she should do so on SNL or some other venue meant for that type of thing.

Can you imagine showing up to a comedy show where the comedian says, "I hope you'll all bear with me as I sing a few songs that I've composed," then drops an f-bomb on a fan who came to hear comedy and heckles the comedian about it?

Shocker that all the pro-Dems don't see anything wrong with yawn-inducing anti-Bush skits at a music concert. :meds:

Why? Because some dittotard got sand in his vagina? I bet if she had made a Clinton joke, that same dittochump would have been rolling in the aisles.
You're right. Everyone knows her political views, which is why if she wants to go Lorne Michaels and do an anti-Bush skit, she should do so on SNL or some other venue meant for that type of thing.
Last I checked, it was her show. She rented the hall and printed the tickets. That means pretty much anything she thinks would entertain the crowd is fair game. And from what I've read, the vast majority of the crowd enjoyed the show.

You mean like Dennis Leary? Steve Martin? Milton Berle?

Are you seriously that narrow minded?

You really made me laugh with this one. Not for the reason you think, but a laugh non the less.

Babs is a performer (think masculine version of Barry Manilow) whose political views are well known. The stage is her office and she get's to do what she wants. Ted Nugent has been using the stage for his own political views for years, right wingers don't seem to have a problem with that. I don't necessarily agree with Ted's political views, but that's not why I've attended his shows. If you don't like the political rant that a performer is ranting about, go get another beer and/or take a piss. You should be thanking them for providing you a break so you don't have to miss any of the music that you came to see. If you really don't care for their politics, don't go to their shows.

"I no longer have the showbiz clout I once did..I will do damn near anything to call attention to myself. The younger, more attractive performers make the big bucks, and my comeback will manifest itself by me becoming more of a foul-mouthed has-been than I was previously. The fools will buy it."

Also the reason why you'd never catch me dead at a Ted Nugent concert. There are plenty of far more talented rockers who won't browbeat you with that right-wing b.s.

What slays me about these performers is that most of them have zero education. Yet, they feel like they have the right to spout off about stuff they mostly know nothing about. When rock stars get on TV and start with all their political bullshit, I turn it off.

The crazy thing is there are some kids that see this shit and they start developing their political beliefs based on what some uneducated singer thinks. That is the scary part. Just because you have a mic and a record deal, it doesn't make you a preacher of views. I would have asked for a refund from both Babs and Ted.

Just because they act for a living does not necessarily mean they are distant from the issues.
