Fwiw, I've thought LSU was the SEC's best all season long. Both their losses were very iffy road game losses, with the Auburn game especially being marred by multiple controversies.
Main reason I think LSU is the SEC's best is LSU possesses the ONE dominant unit in all of the SEC. There are no dominating offenses in the SEC. LSU's defense though, to me they're easily the best of the group.
They also have weapons on offense, even if the weapons far too often misfire.
I definitely think LSU's "best game" is better than anybody else's in the SEC right now. When they put it all together they'd be the most difficult team to beat.
Btw, JSC, enjoy your soon-to-be-arriving $5K windchime, courtesy of m2.
Also, I'll be getting my first "in person" taste of SEC football this weekend when my wife and I travel to Tiger Stadium to see the LSU-'Bama game with a buddy who's an LSU alum. He just informed me last night that the game is now definitely a night game, which is what he was hoping for, big time. He wanted to show me an ALL DAY LONG tail gating party followed by 90,000 drunk cajuns roaring under the lights...
Good thing LSU beat Tennessee. First off, it got you your windchimes from m2. More importantly though, how much of a morgue would Tiger Stadium have been had Tenesseee held on to beat LSU? At least now the LSU Faithful should still be fired up so I should get a representative sampling of SEC Ambiance...
Too bad 'Bama's horseshit though. In other years this would've been a huge one.

LSU...bah, humbug.
Do they have an aversion to winning all of their games? They just can't put it together and get out of their conference cleanly.
If a Big East team is undefeated, then they will have the better case for a shot at the title game in my book, CATEGORICALLY.

The problem remains, then...LSU won't offer a compelling case on their own, we have to take their greatness on faith. If they're so great, then why can't they win all of their games?

So, is the name of your book "Categorically" or is it "How To Boise St Your Way Into A Perfect(ly Meaningless) Record And Subsequent Title Game Shot"?PSU wrote:If a Big East team is undefeated, then they will have the better case for a shot at the title game in my book, CATEGORICALLY.
Jsc, we arrive in New Orleans on Wednesday. We screw around there for a few nights and then we drive up to Baton Rouge Saturday morning, where we'll spend a few more days.
As for wearing the USC gear, nah, I'm no bedecked all in USC gear Jimma type. I own no USC gear. I think my entire stash of sports teams themed gear consists of, lessee here...a Cleveland Indians cap (not a fan, just like the cap) and a Miami Dolphins cap my charming wife bought me in a wholly transparent effort to get back on my good side after she spent an entire day far too pointedly "commenting" (laughing at me) on how badly I got sunburned the day before at Laguna Seca Raceway...
My LSU buddy and I, man, it's become far too much of a sore point between us, the 2003 season. We go out of our way now to avoid the topic. I'll bet that for the entire time I'm there the topic won't even come up between us. No need to be pissed at each other during my stay there, ya' know?
Besides, we both know he's just bangin' on a technicality even as we both know that USC was the better team and the true consensus champ that year.

Wonder what would happen, actually...
I don't drink and I'm not prone to making a spectacle of myself so other than wearing USC gear it's not like I'd go out of my way to antagonize anybody there.
I'm a boring, nondescript looking dude anyway. I doubt too many people would even notice me.
My guess is that as long as I didn't pop off left and right (which I wouldn't) I'd probably be fine. Again though, I own no USC gear anyway so it' a moot point...

Jsc, what if it was just a generic USC hat or t-shirt, as opposed to "USC: 2003 National Champions" gear?
Just asking, hypothetically. I have no intentions of buying new USC gear, just to wear to an LSU-'Bama game.
Mace, that's fuggen pathetic. Sorry to hear that. I guess the moral of the story then is when in doubt always carry a badge and a gun...

Only LSUFan would take pride in this kind of behavior.Jsc810 wrote:I'm pretty sure if you kept your mouth shut and wore a USC 2003 National Champions shirt, you still would get yelled at. But I think as long as you kept quiet, nobody would try to fight you, although it would be 50-50 that someone would throw a beer on you.
I'd be ashamed.

Exactly.
Tailgating at an LSU football game has always been more than enjoyable experience for me. I only make it to one or two games a year if I'm lucky but every time I have its been a blast! The vast majority of the fans take pride in showing the opposing team's fans nothing but the best in southern hospitality. Sure there is some playful banter here and there, but mostly its all about having a good time.
Jsc, I'll be in Louisiana six days, starting Wednesday.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in New Orleans and then Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Baton Rouge. Fly back Tuesday, outta New Orleans.
Make no mistake, I shall partake fiendishly of various and sundry cajun eating establishments. Cafe Du Monde will also become my bitch. Or, vice versa, as the case may be...

Well, since I won't be sporting any gear that's likely to trip anybody's "anti hospitality" triggers I figure I should be able to get a decent reading...
I'll be with an LSU alum and from what I gather he's insisting that we sit in the student's section rather than sitting in his usual season ticket seats. He wants me to get the full effect of the LSU Experience, or some shit.
I'm sure I'll see all SORTS of southern hospitality. I just hope it isn't too cold because I specifically want to see the famous hair pie skirts, bared midriffs and copious tanned cleavage of drunken co-eds brand of southern hospitality he keeps bragging about...

What is this "new area" you speak of? With all this talk of tailgating, I'm thinking about driving to B.R. this Sat. - My buddy's FIL has a sweet Class A motorhome that they bring out to every home game which makes the whole experience that much better. I think I'm gonna give him a call.Jsc810 wrote:The student section is ok, but you'll be just yards away from the new area, where they serve booze and have all sorts of free food and stuff. But the students can't get in there.
I wonder what Les will do if Bo gets a nice job after this year. That will be a tough replacement to make. Some douche over on huskerconnection swore that Bo had the 'sker job offered to him but refused to make any concessions in terms of being more "head coach-like". I believe he he'd be hesitant about making big changes, but no-way does he have a job like Neb in his hands and piss on it by refusing to meet the AD halfway. Some of these homerboard guys amaze me, regurgitating rumor-mill stuff and acting like they actually saw the shite occur.
You gonna bark all day little doggie or are you gonna bite?
