Another NBA fight...
Geez, Of course the shitty Knicks are involved against the Nuggets with a cheap foul by the Knicks to start it. Time for Isiah to be fired and props to George Karl for not shaking his hand.

Listening to the post game interviews it seems like the Knicks were upset the Nuggets didnt pull their starters despite being up big. Isiah was bitching about it in his news conference as were some of the Knick players. Nice to see the players have taken on Zekes whiny its everyone elses fault but mine mentality.

Nuggets and Knicks Erupt in Wild Brawl
By BRIAN MAHONEY
AP Basketball Writer
NEW YORK (AP) -- The NBA has another ugly scene to recover from. This one involved its leading scorer and happened in its most famous arena. Denver's Carmelo Anthony and the other nine players on the court at the time were ejected for fighting during a wild brawl between the Nuggets and Knicks, triggered in part by a New York team that felt it was being shown up on its home floor.
Multiple players, including Anthony, threw punches, and New York's Nate Robinson and Denver's J.R. Smith - fouled hard by Mardy Collins on the play that started the brawl - flew into the first row of the crowd while fighting during the NBA's scariest scene since Indiana players fought with Detroit fans in 2004.
According to the Knicks, the whole thing happened because the Nuggets still had their starters on the floor with 1:15 left and a 19-point lead. Denver won 123-100.
"They just wanted to embarrass us," Robinson said. "It was a slap in the face to us. As a team, as a franchise, we weren't going to let that happen. A clean, hard foul happened and after that it went down from there."
The foul wasn't clean at all. Collins grabbed Smith around the neck as he was going in for a breakaway layup. Anthony and Robinson quickly jumped in, and the melee went from one end of the court all the way to the other.
Anthony threw a punch at Collins, and now awaits what will surely be strong punishment from a league still trying to repair its image after the melee in Auburn Hills, Mich.
"Something's going to happen, but we shall see and wait," Anthony said. "I don't really want to comment on that right now."

I'm sure Isiah will offer to take George out to Red Lobster and this'll just be water under the bridge.

Finally saw the highlights of the incident...I'd be curious to see if Carmelo gets the star treatment with his suspension when he clearly sucker punched Collins on camera. He deserves more than a slap on the wrist but I guess we'll see if one of the superstars and faces of the league can get away with something like that. Anything less than 5 games is garbage...

Yeah, their tax attorneys will get all up in their grills and demand they chill. :rolleyes:Diego in Seattle wrote:Who gives a rip about fines?
The day that those fines are no longer tax-deductable is the day that they actually start meaning something.
dolt.
Nothing will change until the league actually grows a sack which is gonna happen right about never. Until these fukkers are subject to the same rules as the rest of us, they will continue to act like the ghetto thugs they are. If I take a swing at somebody at work, reguardless of how much they need it, I will be sacked, permanently, for evah, or longer, from that company. When they are subject to these rules, some of them will actually comply.

Here's an idea on how to deal with this and other bad conduct by these players: Make the suspensions and fines have some teeth by creating the "Thug League" for suspended players. You get 1/4 salary and buy your own unis, shoes, etc. You also pay for transportation to and from games around the country. If you don't show up for a game......you get no credit. Example: Carmelo gets a 20 game suspension means he plays for 1/4 of his salary and CANNOT rejoin the NBA until he plays/serves his 20 games in the "Thug League"
I bet they might appreciate what they have after a couple stints in the Thug League. Oh yeah...get in a fight while you're there? Your sentence doubles....on the spot.

one other thing about this whole mess. Just how many times does zeke have to fail miserably before the NBA tells him to fukk off. are they that desperate to have a black dude in NBA front offices.
He was great as a player, but, he just sucks out loud doing anything while not wearing numbers.

does melo actually run a 'don't be a snitch' program? nice. wonder how that's gonna go when he or one of his family is inevitably whacked.
Oh, and rack the hell outta old school athletes like jim brown. the whole showboating think that has infested every sport around is really getting old. All of you young punks could learn something from watching old clips. Bird or Magic had wayyyyyyy more reason to showboat than these whelps do, but, they didn't. And what magic did might have been flashy at times, but, it wasn't after the play bullshit like we see way too much of today.

Bird didn't showboat? After nailing a 3-pointer he used to backpedal down the court with his hand in a limp-wristed jump shot position. Additionally, he was known across the NBA as the biggest shit-talker in the league.
I agree that there's way too much showboating though. It's the world we live in. In the 50's and 60's, NFL players didn't have multi-million dollar marketing deals driven by how recognizable their image is. The sad fact is, that shit sells sneakers and whatever else athletes put their names on. Being classy doesn't.
Jim Brown was a classy athlete, but his play has been overshadowed in my opinion by his modern day tendancy to preach about the white man oppressing the black man. Unfortunately, he's come close to being as bad as an Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson.

backpedalling down the court is showboating? You ever play ball? backpedalling is a way of getting down court while still seeing wtf is going on. And it is a far cry from the post dunk antics that go on today.

bull fukking shit. MJ, the king of the marketing deal was/is 100% class.

yeah, I hear you about jimbo today. Funny thing is, back in the day, when what he is talking about was REAL he stfu and played.

Part of what gives some folks a skewed impression of Anthony and many other NBA players is the constant (and undeserved, obviously) praise by "analysists" during the TV broadcasts. I swear, not but a couple of weeks ago, I was watching an NBA game on TNT or ESPN, and these jackasses were talking about what a "great person" Carmello is and how much he's "matured." I wish I could remember which asshat it was. Regardless, these same idiots' takes now will be something along the lines of "Well, he just let his emotions get the best of him in that particular situation," no doubt.
Give me a fucking break. Like far too many pro athletes these days, dude is a chickenshit, spoiled punk, plain and simple.

Sure, I've played tons of basketball.backpedalling down the court is showboating? You ever play ball? backpedalling is a way of getting down court while still seeing wtf is going on. And it is a far cry from the post dunk antics that go on today.
That was Bird's way of showboating probably because he couldn't perform any of the aerial dunks and accompanying antics that others were known for. Did you ever see Bird play? Remember how a couple of times a year he would get someone so pissed off from his showboating antics and constant trashtalking that they would take a swing at him?

Okay, so the best player in the history of the game got his notoriety and his endorsements from his game and not his act. Big shocker there. Ditto Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, etc, etc.bull fukking shit. MJ, the king of the marketing deal was/is 100% class.
Everyone else needs to do something to get noticed and get their paycheck. Or at least that's what their agents tell them.

Isiah is one of the biggest pussies on anybody's payroll.
Oh, so when your team is sucking like a Hoover with a turbocharger, you threaten the other team's star player? "Don't go in the paint, you'll get hurt" Was Thomas that big a fag in his playing days? If you're going to fuck somebody up, just do it and dare them to do something back- don't act like a pissed off little 5 year old talking shit.
As for Carmello, the sucker punch was a bitch move. He should have gone Kermit Washington on Isiah Thomas and then bent him over & went Kobe Bryant on his ass. Soon as he figured out what was happening, Isiah would have stopped resisting.

Please link me to a quote where Jim Brown says the white man is oppressing the black man.
I've never seen it.
A few years back, in a discussion regarding a lack of black coaches in the NFL, I recall Jim Brown said that if black people felt they were being slighted they need to go out and buy their own teams.
