Haven't thought of that movie in a long time. Who was that director that also made Prospero's books and Pillow Book?

Caligula was a fine piece of cinema. I believe I saw it when it first came out at the Esquire Cinema on Mifflin Street. I later owned an uncut copy on VHS tape. That story line certainly makes Shoalzie's dating habits seem normal.

Did you go see that 3-D porn film they had at the theater next to Paul's on State Street a few years ago? "Disco Dolls in Hot Skin" and it was picketed by many women's/lesbian groups from the UW. Seeing John Holmes fuck a woman and then drown her in a pot of soup was fascinating.

I heard that Annie Sprinkle used to come to Madison in the 70's and early 80's. You ever see her on stage?

The Esquire was just another Madison movie theater that eventually bit the dust. It currently houses the Gerald Bartell Community Theatre, a community theater playhouse.

Where the Civic Center currently sits used to be the old Capitol theatre. Went there to see the only 3-D movie I ever went to, The Stewardesses (also porn).

Never saw Annie Sprinkle, though I used to stop in to the Dangle from time to time. Knew a gorgeous local black dancer there.

Annie Sprinkle is a stripper/porn star/performance artist who would do shows where she would give the audience a speculum and let them examine her while she was on stage. Someone told me they saw her in Madison years ago.

The Dangle? That is an interesting name for a titty bar. I used to go to Visions on East Washington but the women they had in there went from good to downright terrible. I saw an 18 year old fatty in there from Marathon County who danced during Amateur Night in combat boots. I didn't feel the need to drive to the Dells to frequent the strip clubs they had there so I would go to Visions when I really, really bored.

I like the Overture Center (Saw Bill Cosby there right before I moved) but it seems that places like it are going to run out the older, more established theaters in the city. I could be wrong though.

The Dangle and Visions were both owned by the Reichelbergers. I really liked the atmosphere at the Dangle. Cozy old bar, lots of wood. The main bartender at the Dangle is now the publisher of Isthmus.

The city cut some kind of deal with the two brothers. The city wanted to get rid of strip joints altogether, but they compromised, letting them keep Visions while closing the Dangle to help clean up the downtown area.

I never saw a stripper at the Dangle that was anything less than attractive, with many that were smoking hot. They brought in talent from all over the Midwest. No U & L skanks need apply.

I met this one young lady back in the 70’s at the old Bachelors Three. She was a senior in high school, 18 years old, and had been kicked out of her mom’s house. I was nice enough to put her up for a night or two.

Several years later I walk into the Dangle and there she is up on the stage. Naked. Black. And beautiful. She had done a hitch in the Army and had started dancing then. She had really a really tight little pubic rug, and she would take a maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick and nestle it in her muff. Some lucky goober from the audience would get to nibble off the cherry.

We renewed acquaintances that night. I didn’t know it at the time, but when she danced she applied some kind of dark brown cream to her thighs to even out the skin tone.

I woke up the next morning, and stumbled into the bathroom in my alcohol and drug fueled stupor. I looked at my face in the mirror, and for this split second I swear to God I had this thought flash through my mind that I had slept with this black woman and that I was turning black. Good times, good times.
