I'm loving that all the "experts" are giving IU no shot in hell of beating Gonzaga.

well, they have no shot in hell of scoring more than 50 points, so there you have it.

i don't get that either. this is not a "vintage" Zags team....and, sure, i know it well, Kelvin has had some trouble in the first round.....but that is IMO a function of the tourny getting called pretty tight and KS' teams play pretty physical more than anything. hard to win, when the Indy State's or Manhattan's of the world are in the double bonus the last 10 minutes of the second half.

I'm taking the Zags in part due to the fact they were able to beat some heavy hitters in Texas and UNC on neutral courts.
I wouldn't take it personally though. Taking Gonzaga over anybody in the first round is the most popular decision to make come bracket time. They could be paired up against the 92 Dream Team and people would still take the Zags.

Alright bitches, it's the eve of tourney time and this place is nuthin' but crickets.
*I love the fact the IU/Gonzaga game is the last of tomorrow's lineup. Should be able to see the game in its entirety here.
Other games I'm looking forward to are ODU/Butler as I took ODU, MSU v Marquette (for obvious reasons) and, VCU/Duke (seems like I'm one of the few that doesn't think Duke will get upset). I'm also interested to see how A&M/Acie Law come out and look in their first game since I have them winning it all.
*Anyone see Roy Williams crying to the press about having to play a 10 o'clock game? Christ man, get the sand out of your vagina and get ready for the fucking game. What kind of example does that set for your team when you're bitching about stupid shit like that? You've had plenty of time to rest, just show up, ball, and shut the fuck up.

well, it's UNC's divine right to play on a neutral floor in Charlotte or Greensboro. who can blame Roy for crying?

Yeah, what with IU leading the Big 10 in scoring this year and all.

I too think Dook will win, not only on Thursday but on Saturday as well against an extremely overrated Pitt squad thus keeping their Sweet 16 streak alive.
I think the MSU/MARQ game will be quality entertainment, but I do wish McNeal were healthy so we could see both squads at their best. Of course I'll be pulling for MSU to rep the Big 10.
FWIW on the late games thing. Bob Knight bitched about this years ago and ever since, even with him in the boonies of West Texas, IU always (barring a Davis "led" team missing the tourney of course) seems to end up with the late game. And look who's the late game on Thursday, IU a-fucking-gain.
Other Thursday game I'm interested in is the WSU/ORU game as I think ORU could make a run to the 16 as a 14 seed.

I think Gonzaga was overseeded as a 10. I would have put them in as a 12.
I like Indiana to win this one.

IU/Zaga was a difficlut game to pick. I picked Zaga b/c I think the game will come down to coaching and I think Few has the advantage.

I got the Zags in my bracket but that's mostly just for the big "Fuck You" to all the IU guys at work. Can't pick the higher seeds all the way down the bracket, and this is one that I think is a better possibility than most to be an upset. I also have Old Dominion knocking off Butler.

Same here, that's my 12 pick for this year.
Butler stumbled a bit down the stretch, and the 5 seed is a bit high imho. You could say the same thing about USC, but Arkansas is in the "lucky just to be there" category much moreso than Old Dominion.

So go to cbssportsline.com and find out how to watch it online

Stanford is getting their shit kicked by Louisville.
41-13 w/ 4:30 in the 1st Half.

yeah, no doubt. Louisville closed out the Big East a pretty hot team. playing in Lexington is basically home game for the 'ville.

yeah, but if you guys get through it you've got the rounds of 16 and 8 in San Antonio.
my annual rant against the pod system is in some other thread (Maybe the UT-ATM OT game thread)....but it's kind of a joke.
in a month, after the tourny is over and the Masters ends....i'll find myself doing my other annual rant: Jim Nantz, the Shakespeare of sport.

Yes, which is why I feel better about the possible A&M/OSU game. That's a loooooong ways away though.

tceh lost.

they didn't belong. they had some bad losses....Jackson is a player and has been great all 9 years he's been at Tech.
personally, i think the Big XII deserved 3 bids. though, since Stanford is getting ass-waxed i bet the KSU fans are grinding their teeth. hey, play a SOS out of conference.
i tell you, that's one thing Kelvin Sampson always did well at OU....was schedule a OOC that was geared toward the rpi. and once the conference season kicked in, OU's rpi was always money.

does Pitino use black shoe polish in his hair these days? he was going grey a couple years ago.

ANd he's carried that tradition on to IU. Of course, I think most of thier schedule, if not all of it, was in place before he got there. Schedule tough teams (beat none of them) but have the strong SOS for OOC and get in the tourney

Well, so far so good with BC, Louisville, and Maryland all winning. I figured Davidson would give MD a good scare, but that the Terps would pull it out in the end, which is fortunately what came to be. You hate to lose a Sweet 16 team early on day one...now I'm sure Wash St will have me sweating it out.

Stanford was able to make a comeback and only lose by 20. Nice job.
3-0, so far. Not really tough ones to pick though.

I picked tceh to win as a minor upset, but Knight came through in the clutch to keep with his tourney success, or lack thereof, over the past 15 years.

I disagree. I think the 3 wins they have against Kansas and ATM, incluing at ATM, are as impressive of a group of 3 wins as any team in the country. They were exactly where they should have been, in the tourney but as a 10 seed meaning one of the final at-large teams to get in.
IF- Why all the Knight hate?? Is it simply because he's at Texas Tech or is there more to it?? Not that you're the only one on here, or in general (no pun intended), that hates RMK but I don't know your VHI Behind the Hate story.

Still early, but Oral Roberts leads Washington State at the half.
That would be a shocker to me if it holds. I had Washington State into the Sweet 16 -- not because I'm particularly enamored of them, but I thought they got a pretty favorable draw.

Shine,
We've been down this road before. I've explained it all before. I've never liked Knight. He's a bully and an asshole. He takes a tone with people asking him honest questions who are just doing their jobs like they just raped his daughter, wife and mother in the same day. He can fucking hang for all I care.
Going to tceh was the "just when I thought I couldn't stand the guy any more, he goes to tceh" icing on the cake.

Gotcha, didn't remember going down that road before.
WSU off to a hot start in the 2nd half. Hope ORU comes back as I had them as my sleeper team in one of the pools I'm in.

.
they have at least one bad loss for each good win. they played a good stretch in January....and were marginal down the stretch and got waxed by KSU in the conference tournament. i don't think KSU should have been in, but Tech sure as heck didn't belong in over them. if anyone other than Knight coached TT, they would be a middle seed in the NIT.

I won't argue long over things that are already in the rearview mirror but a couple quick things. First is how everyone wants to talk about how KSU beat TT in the B12T but overlook that TT beat KSU on their homecourt. Second is that TT was 7-9 versus the RPI top 100 (using Pomeroy). Other teams with much better seeds that nobody argued about include:
8-6, Texas A&M 3 seed
9-11, Michigan St 9 seed
8-9, Texas 4 seed
7-10, IU 7 seed
7-9, Louisville 6 seed
Simply put, TT won enough games against top competition to be among the top 34 at-large teams and were seeded correctly near the bottom of that group.
Looks like ORU is playing like well uh, ORU.

Wash St ended up winning by 16.
Butler figured out how to score and now is 38-32 halfway thru the 2nd Half.

Looks like A&M is taking a shit.
14/32 from the field for 43% against a shitty team.

Oh well, might as well lay an egg in this one. I can't see the game, but I wonder how many Louisville fans stuck around for the second game to cheer on Penn.
