Bungals at Chiefs... Oh Shiiine

Post by War Wagon »

I suppose we must talk about this game, though both teams look like they're headed nowhere in a hurry.

Let's see, what's the storyline here? You'll have to forgive me for not being overly enthusiastic at this point in time. I've been too caught up in my Mizzou homerific myopia lately, but that's bound to change come Sunday at noon.

Hell, even though I know that I must, I'm struggling to offer up decent breakdown. Yes, I know. Par for the course, right?

Despite me giving you a bit of crap the past few weeks, I know you're a good poster and a decent dude, Shine.

Do me a favor, please. Say something that's going to piss me off and help me shake off the malaise I'm feeling about this game. I'm really not myself right now.

Aww, fuck it.

I'm not comforted by the Bengals potential to slow LJ.
I see Johnson finally having a 'break out' game here.

Huard may be hurting, and perhaps Croyle could even see the field.
Herm will want to keep going off tackle w/LJ .... and guess what?
This time it works.

Cincy will go vertical a number of times though, and make this a tight game.

Got a call from the Ben-Gals the other day asking if I wanted to try out for a linebacker job. ME. That's how desperate they are for LB help.

And they need to be- LJ, even with this shit excuse for an offensive line King Carl and Herm decided to roll with this season, has got to be losing sleep thinking about the huge chunks of yardage he's going to run up on the 'Gals D and he FINALLY gets into the end zone. I imagine that Tony G. and Dwayne Bowe can also envision getting sizeable yardage on that depleted 'Gal secondary as well. The Twin Towers should fare well against them IMO.

As mentioned above however, Palmer can and will go airborne more than a few times, and the two Oregon State products will get their fair share of catches and yardage, but not enough to win the game. Our run D is FAR superior to theirs, Jared Allen/Tamba Hali/Derrick Johnson will see to it that Carson gets to taste the fine Arrowhead grass, and we send the 'Gals home bitching and moaning amongst themselves....yet AGAIN:

I had a lot of confidence about this game a few days ago when I thought the Bengals would be getting back a ton of their injured guys. Now it turns out they're only getting back a couple of them so my confidence has subsided. The key guys I was hoping to see back in action were Brooks and Jeanty, both LB's. With them out along with Miller still Cincy heads into this game with only 4 LB's. Willie Anderson is out too, ending his streak of 116 straight games. Of course he only played 3 snaps against NE and has been in and out of all games this year so Cincy is somewhat used to not having him available. Rudi looks like he might not play either so Watson will get the call again.

Anyway I think the key to this game will be who establishes themselves first. The best way for Cincy to slow down LJ is to put points on the board and force KC to pass the ball more. Got a call from the Chefs the other day asking if I wanted to try out for a QB job. ME. That's how pathetic their QB situation is. Cincy will stack 8 (or more) in the box to slow LJ down and force either Huard or Croyle to beat them through the air. The "strength" of the Bengals D is when they're able to go into ballhawking mode so everytime they force KC to air it out it helps their cause. Of course if Cincy can't put points up early then it'll be an extra heavy dose of LJ and a loud Arrowhead crowd to contend with.

I don't doubt LJ will have his best game of the year, but the bar is set pretty low thus far. The key for Cincy is making his best day look more like 20 for 125 than 25 for 190. I like Palmer and company's chances against Law and Surtain so I don't doubt CP will put up solid numbers either. I think the bye week is the difference maker here as Cincy will have had 2 weeks to prepare for slowing LJ down and forcing the hapless Chefs QB to beat them. Not to mention the "must win" status this game has attained for Cincy. I expect a much improved and more disciplined team this Sunday.

Predictable responses by the Blot tards.....until Gates gets 60+TDs and 750+catches he BARELY scratches the Top 5.

Tony G. is STILL a better TE than Gates even today.

A win is a win, yet aside from Gonzo eclipsing the record, a totally uninspired effort today. Hell, even the Arrowhead crowd wasn't much into the game. I haven't seen that in almost 20 years.

Pathetic watching Herm and company sit on a late lead and play not to lose. You got away with it this time, but that's going to bite you in the ass more often than not.

Memo to LJ: If I'm the coach, the next time you toss the frickin' ball away after a 5 yard loss and draw a delay of game penalty will be the last time. Do you understand me, boy? Pull your head outta' your ass. It's not all about you, ok?

Pretty sure that I've never been quite so unsatisfied with a Chiefs win. Ever. Why Benny Sapp saw the field again after that moronic tantrum he threw is a mystery to me.

This team has some deep seated problems. I almost wish they had lost so they're not whitewashed in the aftemath of an unimpressive home victory over a team with even worse issues.

All that said, I don't want anything to take away from Gonzo's accomplishment. That guy has been a straight up warrior for this team and organization since day one and has earned every accolade along the way. You've made us proud that you're a Kansas City Chief, Tony. I wish I could say the same about some of those other dumbfucks representing my fair city.

Wags, I will in NO WAY defend B. Sapp's behavior, but clearly Houshyamama did SOMETHING to him on that play to set him off the way he did....did you happen to see what if anything happened to him?

Props to the Chiefs. This Bengal team has so many problems and injuries its becoming funny.
the better team won.

wish the bye week would have helped to sort some of the problems out.
seems like Levi Jones is hurt? and the loss of Steinbeck to the Browns hurt more than what they thought.
also, listening to ESPN radio, and the honk goes off talking about how Cinci hasn't addressed the Defense through the draft. uhhh sure they did. But Pollack broke his neck and Thurman likes to take illegal substances or whatever. (those two were one of the main reasons this team went 10-6 in 2005)

but alas.. props Chiefs. just remember you beat a team that is reeling from more problems than can be listed. Apperently if you want a MVP game for your RB and QB, play the Bengals..
this stinks of 90'-04'

That covers two of the convicts. What about the other 9?

I liked Mike Ditka, because he sought to knock the living crap out of people.

And of course nobody was better than Dave Casper.
Big time player.

Todd Christensen was fairly epic too.

Been off-line most of the week but just wanted to make a quick bump on this thread to give props to the Chiefs for knocking Cincy into "next year" mode.
